Review Y-Luk-O explore new paths of Industrial-Pop with their fifth studio album "Sin(n)" and surprise with more brilliant melodies and possibly the most honest and direct sound in their 7 year history. Cello, violins and acoustic guitars have made their way into Y-Luk-O's compositions as well as one of the most classical of electronic instruments : the Theremin. In contrast to previous albums, Y-Luk-O base the sound of "Sin(n)" not on multiple complex and over-used sound designs or different styles and genres, but create it out of a very limited selection of instruments and sounds. The band limit themselves to six different basic synthesizer sounds, which have been effected and altered to various extents. A custom made 'true Industrial' drum kit was designed in their own studio. Acoustic instruments like guitar, piano, violin shape the rest of the sound. The intent of this work was to concentrate on the composition of the song itself and the message and emotion in it and in so doing Y-Luk-O free themslves from the progressing dehumanization and effect - overload of many contemporary compositions. Y-Luk-O's new album deals on one hand with the dark and inevitable edges of the human soul and inter-individual relationships as well as philosophical considerations. Harsh, merciless and critical, like their lyrics, the edgy and memorable sound leaves deep tracks in the memory of the listener.
