Welcome to the weekly round-up of forthcoming releases. It's a short one this week following Friday's KRAFTWERK newsletter.

Germany's GREATEST rock band, RAMMSTEIN, return to the scene this year after an extended break from both studio and live activity. The lead single from their sixth studio album will be the double-A side "Pussy/Rammleid", being released as a limited edition specially packaged CD single. Order quickly as this may sell out on pre-order!

THE CRÜXSHADOWS offer up the "Quicksilver" EP, featuring three brand new tracks, as well as a radio edit and a club mix of the title track. After several months of silence from the Californian band, they are now ready to return both on CD and to the stage.

"Beautiful People" is the brand new single from the PET SHOP BOYS, featuring two remixes of the title track plus one additional track, "Fugitive".

After THE MISSION finally broke up last year, singer WAYNE HUSSEY has finally had the time to record his first solo album, entitled "Bare", featuring songs that Wayne has been presenting on his recent solo tour. The album also features four live bonus tracks, recorded at a sold-out show in Bochum.

Following on from last weeks EPs, "State Of Decay" is the second album from Australia's synthpop duo PARRALOX. Mastermind John von Ahlen and vocalist Amii have created an album that transfers the charm of the 80s directly into the present day, sounding like a modern mixture of bands such as PET SHOP BOYS, ERASURE, YAZOO and NEW ORDER. Highly recommended by MNS!

Two years ago, MINISTRY founder and frontman Al Jourgensen set out to retire his 30-year project and exit gracefully in a blaze of glory with the release of MINISTRY's final studio album "The Last Sucker". Now Jourgensen gives us his final chapter and epilogue with "The Last Dubber" remix album.

In March 2009, Jourgensen released REVCO's "Sex-O Olympic-O", featuring the incarnation of REVCO's live touring musicians. Now, hot on the heels of their North American tour, the first headlining tour in over 20 years, Jourgensen presents us with the companion release to the last album "Sex-O-Mixxx-O": a ten track remix album with a star-studded cast of remixers on board, featuring COMBICHRIST's Andy LaPlegua, MARILYN MANSON's Chris Vrenna, SKINNY PUPPY's Dave Ogilvie, and more.

A great return for TERRORFAKT, two years after the amazing previous album "Teethgrinder". "Re/Evolution" is a looking forward/looking back type of release, which features some classic out-of-print TERRORFAKT material, in addition to a few songs that were never officially released, some new remixes and some new studio material.

The highly anticipated "Forever Is the World" continues right where the previous album left off for THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, but without the use of electronic elements and with a much more natural sound. The album features the amazing vocals of Nell Sigland. Be prepared for the newest incarnation of THEATRE OF TRAGEDY!

In the two years since the release of "The Last Days of Rome", here is the first physical release from Australian veteran of the industrial movement, SNOG, out on ADVOXYA RECORDS. "Thirteen Remakes for the Rapture" covers a full spectrum of outstanding music, from danceable electro and EBM, to slow acoustic tracks, all remixed by well-known names on scene such as BLACK LUNG, HAUJOBB, HECQ, AMBASSADOR21 and many others.

If AMBASSADOR21 had a press agent, you could now be reading something like 'smashed drums', 'ultra fast broken beats', 'sharp guitar riffs', 'earf*cking duel of vocals', 'wall of noise', 'absolute dancefloor killers', and so on. But they don't. "Power Rage (Face Your Future Killers)" is the sound of the underground, it's A21's rock'n'roll. Are you ready?

DUNKELWERK's lost trooper has returned to write and arrange another conceptual long player. "Höllenbrut" is another truthful "Endzeit" album, in the pure and traditional sense of the word. German texts and samples, sorrowful orchestral arrangements and dark electronics create a desolated atmosphere haunted by hard and raucous yet distinct vocals and carrying marching beats. Additionally, "Höllenbrut + Nightbreeders" is a deluxe carton box comes with tarot cards, a poster and the "Nightbreeders" bonus disc.

The Italian duo HELALYN FLOWERS break their silence with the E.P. "Spacefloor Romance", and reveal the sound orientation that we can expect from their forthcoming second album. Includes four quality remixes by LEAETHER STRIP, PSY'AVIAH, HALO IN REVERSE and STUDIO-X, each of which each offers a totally new electronic dimension to these great songs. Recommended to fans of GARBAGE, KILLING JOKE, DURAN DURAN, THE CURE, and even GARY NUMAN.

With the promising title of "The Enemy", ACYLUM's new CD has all features necessary to be elected best dark electro album of the year. The assault is relentless with solid harsh beats, hammering drums, 'punch-in-the-face' provocative lyrics, massive orchestral arrangements and intensely harsh vocals. Beware: this album holds harsher and darker material than any previous releases in the genre, beating :WUMPSCUT: and even SUICIDE COMMANDO's respective early work. Also available as a limited deluxe carton box edition, with the bonus remix album "Der Feind" presenting some 15 re-interpretations of tracks by the likes of VON THRONSTAHL, LEAETHER STRIP, SUPREME COURT, FGFC820, IMPLANT, and more.

Wayne Hussey Bare £14.00
Review
After THE MISSION finally broke up last year, singer WAYNE HUSSEY has finally had the time to record his first solo album, entitled "Bare", featuring songs that Wayne has been presenting on his recent solo tour. The album also features four live bonus tracks, recorded at a sold-out show in Bochum in October. The recording is uncut and with Wayne's explanations and comments it really captures the special atmosphere that prevails at his concerts.

For the album, not only did Wayne record old classics by THE MISSION ("Shelter from the Storm", "Garden of Delight", "Black Mountain Mist"), he also covered songs by THE CURE ("A Night Like This") , U2 ("With or Without You") and DAVID BOWIE ("Ashes to Ashes") among others. He plays these songs with all due respect but also adds a new twist to them. "Bare" is an album which really reflects Hussey's personal taste, a very personal and melancholic album which perfectly fits into the cold autumn and winter days.

Ministry The Last Dubber £15.25
Review
"My work is finished but it's never done."

Two years ago, MINISTRY founder and frontman Al Jourgensen set out to retire his 30-year project and exit gracefully in a blaze of glory with the release of MINISTRY's final studio album "The Last Sucker" to high critical acclaim, a release touted by many as Jourgensen's career best. In tandem with this exit strategy, throughout 2008, he and his crew assaulted sold-out audiences around the world with the final MINISTRY "C U LaTouR" live performances. These very performances were captured and archived forever in the Spring 2009 audio/visual releases of "Adios... Putas Madres". Now Jourgensen gives us his final chapter and epilogue with "The Last Dubber" remix. Given the political and economic landscape that has transpired within the global community within the past two years, revisiting Jourgensen's remix of his final words, we find that hauntingly prophetic in hindsight and eerily poetic. "The Last Dubber" is the fourth in a series of remix releases from Jourgensen's imprint 13th Planet, and serves up a cross-genre of trance-metal that will please both metal and club enthusiasts alike, and as Jourgensen delves deeper into the studio now that his doppelganger is finally put to rest, expect future remix releases from 13th Planet with an array of collaborations between Jourgensen and artists of many genres.

Revolting Cocks Sex-O-Mixxx-O £15.25
Review
In 2006, after a hiatus of nearly a decade, Al Jourgensen resurrected his delinquent side project THE REVOLTING COCKS with the star-studded release "Cocked & Loaded", which included appearances by members of ZZ TOP, CHEAP TRICK, THE BUTTHOLE SURFERS, and JELLO BIAFRA; subsequently in March 2009, Jourgensen's 13th Planet indie imprint released REVCO's "Sex-O Olympic-O", featuring the incarnation of REVCO's live touring musicians from the hugely successful 2006 "MasterBaTouR", for which THE REVOLTING COCKS served as direct support to Ministry. And now, hot on the heels of REVCO's North American tour, the "LuBriCaTouR" (their first headlining tour in over 20 years), Jourgensen presents us with the companion release to the last album: a ten track remix album with a star-studded cast of remixers on board, featuring COMBICHRIST's Andy LaPlegua, MARILYN MANSON's Chris Vrenna, SKINNY PUPPY's Dave Ogilvie, GRAVITY KILLS' Doug Firley, as well as REVCO's very own Clayton Worbeck.

Terrorfakt Re/Evolution £12.50
Review
A great return for TERRORFAKT, two years after the amazing previous album "Teethgrinder". Acidic and harsh, TERRORFAKT's music is unavoidable. The fast-paced and heavy beats bite at the eardrums and reverberate through the body, blurring the vision and rapidly transporting you to another world. "Re/Evolution" is a looking forward/looking back type of release which features some classic out-of-print TERRORFAKT material, in addition to a few songs that were never officially released, some new remixes and some new studio material. While this may satiate the longing for a new studio album, "Re/Evolution" will also stand on its own as one of TERRORFAKT's best releases.

Theatre Of Tragedy Forever Is the World £15.50
Review
The storm that they literally set free with their latest studio album from 2006 ("Storm") has paved the way for new opportunities for THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, Norway's best-loved Gothic band. The highly anticipated "Forever Is the World" continues right where the previous album left off but without the use of electronic elements and with a much more natural sound, which represents a step back to their roots yet with a very up-to-date approach. The album features the amazing vocals of Nell Sigland and was recorded at Room 13 studios in Oslo with producer Alexander Møklebust (who has previously worked with ZEROMANCER, SEIGMEN, MONOMEN, DELAWARE and others). Be prepared for the newest incarnation of THEATRE OF TRAGEDY!

Ambassador21 Power Rage (Face Your Future Killers) £14.50
Review
If AMBASSADOR21 had a press agent, you could now be reading something like 'smashed drums', 'ultra fast broken beats', 'sharp guitar riffs', 'earf*cking duel of vocals', 'wall of noise', 'absolute dancefloor killers', 'and again about guitars - hard, speedy, motorbike sounding', 'and again about drums - punchy hammerbeats', 'and again about noise - king size', 'and again about vocals - a mouthful of nails, unique, sexy'. You could read: 'industrial', 'hardcore', 'breakcore', 'gabber', 'noise', 'digital hardcore'. You could read: 'must have', 'strongly recommended', 'you can love it or hate it, but you cannot stay in the middle'. But they don't. They made this album, just because they are. They believe one hundred percent everything they say. They don't make music - they are the music. It's the sound of the underground. It's A21's rock'n'roll. Are you ready, suckers? Bon courage!

Dunkelwerk Höllenbrut £12.50
Review
It took some four years for our one-man army to emotionally recover from the despair he encountered on the German Battlefields of his debut album "Troops". Yet time has passed and although the wounds have not healed, DUNKELWERK's lost trooper has returned to write and arrange another conceptual long player celebrating once more the difficult theme of "Total Defeat".

"Höllenbrut" is another truthful "Endzeit" album, in the pure and traditional sense of the word. DUNKELWERK takes us this time through dark horror fields haunted by beasts and vampires. We follow him in an eternal quest for the loved Queen in a desperate world of broken hearts and defeat where fairytale characters are plunged into the harshness of dark literature. A dense atmosphere that is brilliantly captured and rendered in the album's artwork designed by the talented artist Oliver Haecker (Bastart-Worx).

On "Höllenbrut", DUNKELWERK reinforces his 'Endzeit by conviction' musical approach reminding us how unique he is in his effort to create strong sonic atmospheres where music and emotions merge and become one. German texts and samples, sorrowful orchestral arrangements and dark electronics create a desolated atmosphere haunted by hard and raucous yet distinct vocals (far away from the overused hyper-distorted effects) and carrying marching beats. Uncompromising Endzeit Electro with a strong attitude and impressive imagery that will please fans of dark elektro orchestral element.

Helalyn Flowers Spacefloor Romance £10.50
Review
Definitely one of the most alluring and outstanding bands on the Alfa Matrix roster, the Italian duo HELALYN FLOWERS instantly caught the attention of the media thanks to their unique and exploding musical cocktail as well as their eye-catching imagery. With the E.P. "Spacefloor Romance", they break their silence and reveal the sound orientation that we can expect from their forthcoming second album "Stitches Of Eden". Definitely not the kind of band that enjoy repeating themselves again and again, HELALYN FLOWERS add to their characteristic intricate and incisive sound a touch of 80s pop rock inspiration, bringing a very pleasant catchy and melodic dimension to the band's already quite open and diversified musical style - currently based on dynamic synths, powerful basslines, strong guitars and outstanding female vocals.

Next to the upbeat alternative rock of "Hybrid Moments" and "Your Killer Toy", the wave-pop tone of "Never Enough" shows how Max's compositions have become more open and give much more space for N0emi's voice to breathe and reveal her impressively wide vocal range. As the icing on the cake, HELALYN FLOWERS have selected four quality remixes (all exclusive to this EP!) by LEAETHER STRIP, PSY'AVIAH, HALO IN REVERSE and the dancefloor masters STUDIO-X, each of which each offers a totally new electronic dimension to these great songs. An EP warming our appetite for more unconventional electronic pop-rock tunes from HELALYN FLOWERS... Recommended to fans of bands like GARBAGE, KILLING JOKE, DURAN DURAN, THE CURE, DEADSY, ORGY and even GARY NUMAN.

Acylum The Enemy £12.50
Review
Chemnitz-based artist Pedro Engel strikes back with a powerful third album. With the promising title of "The Enemy", ACYLUM's new CD has all features necessary to be elected best dark electro album of the year, blowing away all standards of the genre. Distancing himself even more from the myriads of Hellektro clones, ACYLUM takes his very own dark electro style and throws it onto the battlefield, facing the enemy without any compromise. The assault is relentless with solid harsh beats, hammering drums, 'punch-in-the-face' provocative lyrics, massive orchestral arrangements and intensely harsh vocals.

On this new CD, ACYLUM shouts his hate out clear and loud against humanity's sickest sides and chases his own personal demons. Battle after battle, song after song ("Achh", "The Enemy", "Torture Tactics") ACYLUM reveals his ascending power, excelling as usual in what he enjoys calling his 'anti-club songs'. These massive mid-tempo multi-layered tracks mix dark noise, dramatic heavy electronics and melodic moments. In his continuous sound progression and quest for new inspirations, ACYLUM also focuses on intelligent contrasts and challenging opposites, adding the unique female vocals of Nadine "Cooraz" Hagenbeck (HAUSHETAERE) who at special moments reinforces melodies and adds a dramatic tone to ACYLUM's apocalyptic tunes. Male and female vocal duets reach devastating heights on songs like "Zyclon B", "Kategorie C" or the brilliant pearl "Lightning Child", ACYLUM's most contagious song to date!

As if returning victorious from electro/industrial warfare was not enough, ACYLUM raises a sign here with "Raise Your Fist", an instant raging club hit that will trigger a tsunami effect on dancefloors all over the world. Throughout his three albums, the East German artist has gained a huge amount of sound identity and production maturity and has grown today into a dominating force on the dark electronic scene. No compromise, no failure.

The ACYLUM war-machine is marching your way, raise your fist and join the master on his raging ascension. Beware: "The Enemy" - this album holds harsher and darker material than any previous releases in the genre, beating :WUMPSCUT: and even SUICIDE COMMANDO's respective early work.

Ahnst Anders Many Ways £12.50
Review
Though he started out as a DJ who focused on electronic sounds, AHNST ANDERS now works as a stage and studio performer who merges collages of noise, organic sounds and electronic music into a inimitable blend of dark ambient and experimental music. His debut 'dialog' was released in 2007 simultaneously with his first concert at Maschinenfest. Following were various remixes, collateral sound work for art exhibitions/installations and a collabo rative album with CONFIG.SYS.

This new album is based on different field recordings from natural sources (fire, water, wind), found objects (chains, metal breakers) and different daily environments (street sounds, trains). Using the inspiration received from these recordings Anders has transformed the raw sound into tracks that range from ambient to breaks. During the production process he kept his senses and spirit as receptive as possible, treading many paths to achieve this result - this open-mindedness to try 'many ways' is what named the album.

The music on this release combines ambient soundscapes with a huge variety of rhythmic patterns - from tribal breaks to slow dub-influenced cadences. Ruminant keyboard layers with added field samples generate a mixture of soothing and unsettling atmospheres. (Dark) ambient, musique concréte and repetitive beats offer a soundtrack for a large number of moods.

Crossover Space Death £10.00
Review
American/Italian duo CROSSOVER are back with their pariah mythos, descending upon us with their new full length third album. "Space Death" features the quintessence of their inimitable sound: dirty, sexy, black and naughty! Pop music for the 21st century.

This album goes deeper into the world of CROSSOVER both lyrically and musically. One will sense that there have been many moons since their last release. This time the sound and themes run darker and heavier, the instrumentation teams with hard-edged electronics. The songs range from dusted out dancefloor head-bangers, screwed up electro-punk madness, and even some melancholy ballads. These songs make up the sound pioneered by the band which they call 'gloom' - sick synths, nasty beats, and haunting melodies. These will be the soundtracks to your dreams and the anthems in your head during all of your waking hours. Each song is quite different from the last, yet somehow they relate to each other as if they were chapters in a book. It would seem that lyrically both Rat Boy and Rat Girl have some things to get off their chests on this one.

Fans will be more than pleased to find that CROSSOVER stay true to their sound, vision, D.I.Y. ethic, and underground spirit. Not only fans either, as cult music collectors, art-rockers, and fashionistas will all be rabid for this release. Just like previous offerings from CROSSOVER, their music will reach many audiences.

CROSSOVER "Space Death" is ready for the nightclubs, the radio, and your headphones.

Angelspit Hideous and Perfect £14.25
Review
Hailed as one of the most innovative new industrial bands, ANGELSPIT return with their new album "Hideous and Perfect", a confronting audio-visual statement set to corrupt listeners the world over.

"Hideous and Perfect" promises to be ANGELSPIT's darkest release to date with its sonic textures ranging from hard, pounding beats, to organic, atmospheric samples, topped off by a feverishly powerful male and female dual vocal assault. The duo's sonic exploration and creative process took them out of the studio and into an abandoned shipping yard in Sydney Harbour, where they recorded much of the album's pounding industrial percussion. They fashioned and sampled handmade acoustic and electronic instruments, imparting a unique organic sonic texture to the album, while also giving a nod to the experimental roots of industrial music.

A vicious concoction of industrial guitar riffs, clever hooks and pathologically disturbed synths, making up 12 harsh, heavy and deliberate tracks set to self destruct, "Hideous and Perfect" is challenging as it is catchy. The cyber-punk track "Ditch the Rest" opens the album, with its crunching malicious guitars and aggressive percussion setting the dynamic for what is to follow. "Cold Hard Cash" is next, combining deceptively sweet vocals with grinding rhythms and anarchic synth melodies.

The remaining tracks range from the hypnotic pounding analogue hell of "Sleep Now", to the elegantly deranged "Let Them Eat Distortion" and to "Fuck the Revolution"'s brutal and unforgettable rock'n'roll trip to insanity. Cinematically chilling instrumental tracks provide some respite from the otherwise intense mood. Zoog and Destroyx's turbulent vocal onslaught deals thematically with an apathetic cashed-up society who are simply 'bored to death'. ANGELSPIT's double-edged lyrics can be poetically poignant, at other times witty, but are at all times severely potent.

And their aesthetic concept is equally as iconic as their musical statement, as they continue to develop their fierce design and fashion aesthetic. Visually arresting photography and bold typography characterises the album's striking artwork making "Hideous and Perfect" a defining album of the industrial genre. Packaged in an eco-wallet digipak.

Esplendor Geometrico Pulsión £16.00
Review
"Pulsión" is the all-new album by the legendary ESPLENDOR GEOMÉTRICO, the influential and acclaimed Spanish duo, survivors of the second Industrial wave of the early 80s! It includes nine tracks recorded between November 2008 and May 2009, some of which have already been played live with great success during the band's most recent performances in Leipzig, Madrid and Barcelona.

ESPLENDOR GEOMÉTRICO's style continues to have that absolutely unique and unmistakable mark, distinguishing them from later bands upon whom they had a major influence. At first sight, "Pulsión" is based on the electronic manipulation of sounds together with irresistible rhythms, repetitive, machine-like, industrial, hypnotic, sometimes tribal, sometimes danceable, then layered over with voices and chants. Some of these elements were taken from traditional arab and oriental music, to be later electronically manipulated, others are simply speech fragments, including material from the radical Che Guevara, and there is even an anti-occidental harangue from an Islamist leader. But the idea of EG is not to transmit any political or ideological message, the sources have been chosen solely for their strength and sonority.

This first edition of the album comes in a limited edition digipak.

Sell System Red Room £13.75
Review
SELL SYSTEM are a highly promising synth-/futurepop band based in Turin, Italy. In October 2007 Rikux, Simon & D@x decided to put together their previous experiences as musicians and their common love for electronic music (especially for 80s synth pop and darkwave) to create a band named SELL SYSTEM. The second half of 2008 was full of gigs for the project and as a result of some highly successful shows, the band got signed by the Breakdown label. "Red Room" is an astonishingly fresh and modern sounding debut, an intelligent mix somewhere between DEPECHE MODE and FROZEN PLASMA, and warmly recommended to fans of the genre!

Marc Almond Orpheus in Exile - The Songs of Vadim Kozin £12.75
Review
MARC ALMOND, as the a latter day curator of popular song, has rediscovered the songbook of VADIM KOZIN. Kozin was the Soviet era's much-loved, exiled and then forgotten singer of Gypsy Folk and Russian Torch Song Romances.

Almond discovered Kozin's work on his first visit to Russia in 1992 and was immediately taken with the purity and passion of his voice, as well as the beauty and melancholy of his songs, which are enhanced by the hardships Kozin suffered throughout his life. Marc has joined creative forces with Russian producer and musical arranger Alexei Fedorov who shares both Marc's love of Kozin and his aim to help bring his repertoire to a new audience. The songs have been specially translated for Marc and have never been sung in English before. "Oprheus in Exile" was recorded and mixed in Moscow, and features Russia's most famous folk ensemble, Orchestra Rossiya, conducted by renowned arranger/conductor, Anatoly Sobolev, who also arranged some of Kozin's songs for the orchestra.

The flamboyance and despair of Kozin is juxtaposed by the ever-present optimism of a lost genre of song. Marc gives these universal concerns an overdue airing on a unique album that gives the original songs an all-new big, classy and stylized orchestral production, yet stays true to the original
feel and roots of the songs.

The first 3,000 copies of the album will be released in a Limited Edition digipak.

Duran Duran Sing Blue Silver - 1984 Tour Documentary £13.50
Review
In 1984, DURAN DURAN toured Canada and America. It was their first major tour as headliners in these two countries. Over 79 days they travelled approximately 18,000 miles and played 51 shows in 43 cities to over 550,000 fans. The entire tour was filmed for this 'behind the scenes' documentary which offers some fascinating and intriguing glimpses into the fun, glamour, agony, ecstasy and ultimate glory of three months on the road.

The band is shown thriving on the pressures, psyching themselves up pre-stage and then delivering their all to a thunderous response. The production manager, tour manager and road crew are frequently caught on camera, fraught with last minute panics and touring nerves. Hoards of hysterical fans are seen chasing down and beating on the band's limo and with a camera placed inside the car it gives the viewer an insight into how loud and sinister that must have been. And in between all of this comes the great music.

"Sing Blue Silver" captures the excitement and hysteria that was, and still is, the live DURAN DURAN experience.

Duran Duran Arena (An Absurd Notion) + The Making of Arena £13.50
Review
Doctor Duran (actor Milo O'Shea), the evil character in the cult film "Barbarella" returns to earth, crash-landing his time machine directly underneath the giant stadium in Oakland, California. He is bent upon doing battle with the five imposters above him (the band) who have stolen his name. The evil doctor sends out his henchmen to destroy them as they perform to a packed stadium. DURAN DURAN continue to perform throughout, as chaos ensues around them.

DURAN DURAN are captured at their musical best in "Arena" by award winning director, Russell Mulcahy, who honed his skills working on music promos throughout the 80s, directing Duran videos "Planet Earth", "Hungry Like The Wolf", "Rio", "Save a Prayer", "The Reflex" and "Wild Boys" amongst others. He then moved into full length feature films and had success with "Highlander" I and II and "Tale of the Mummy". He has recently moved into TV, directing the US version of the UK TV series "Queer as Folk".

"The Making of Arena" documentary prises open the lid on the creative processes involved with making "Arena". It reveals how each member of the group contributed ideas and how after two years work and a million pound budget a fantastic sci-fi film was created through the fusion of extraordinary sets, stunning costumes, original dance sequences and visual effects. It also helps to explain director Russell Mulcahy's motto "If I can imagine it, then I can film it".

Christian Death Only Theatre of Pain (Re-issue + bonus) £12.50
Review
And thus was American goth rock born. Perhaps an extreme statement, as one could argue .45 GRAVE beat CHRISTIAN DEATH to the punch, if with a lot more intentional humour. Still, it's about the only thing that can be said upon listening to CHRISTIAN DEATH's debut, "Only Theatre of Pain", released in 1982 and influencing countless bands since then. The member who got the most attention was, unsurprisingly, singer Rozz Williams, but guitarist Rikk Agnew was the secret weapon that makes this album so good. With the first phase of THE ADOLESCENTS (and a solo album) behind him, he brings his punk-inspired influences here, and with the help of longtime producer Thom Wilson, the two created a perfectly ominous world of tolling bells, heavily treated guitar, and general spookiness. Bassist James McGearty and drummer George Belanger keep the murky energy going and thankfully aren't afraid to kick up a storm when needed either. The most memorable song is "Romeo's Distress", a catchy slice of doomy punk-pop that admittedly it has one of the most un-PC lyrical starts around.

Throughout, the band either kick out the melancholy jams with McGearty's purring bass leading the way, or indulge in sheer atmospherics, some quite effective. Witness the slow wash of sound concluding what was the first side of the vinyl release and kicking off the second, or the combination of noise, keyboards, and treated vocals on the closing track "Prayer". And then there's Williams — those who accused BAUHAUS singer Peter Murphy of delivering up pretentious lyrics and overwrought performances must have flipped upon hearing this record. Sodomized boys in front of furnace altars, hilariously naive reversed words meant to be spooky ("Reficul!"), incense-laden sex, "roses and candles, silver knives and spoons", song titles like "Mysterium Iniquitatis" and "Spiritual Cramp", all delivered with a breathless moan at once low and whiny. His weird charm comes through after a while, but it usually takes a couple of listens to get the giggles out. The CD version contains also contains the Deathwish EP as a welcome bonus.

SOUNDCLIPS ADDED THIS WEEK
00tz 00tz Death by Numbers £11.75
Review
Debut album from a promising new project whose name derives from their love of the beat in electronic music.

Nicky Phoenix, who is the leading force behind 00TZ 00TZ, has had many creative sleepless nights experimenting to find the absolute limit of what one can do with a computer, a keyboard and some other random equipment, along with assistance from Veronica Button, who has helped provide 00TZ 00TZ with incorporating movie samples and further musical arrangement.

00TZ 00TZ combines elements of harsh industrial, trance and EBM to create an original wall of sound consisting of dance grooves, hard beats and dark melodic synths that bring along dance floor mayhem chaos. Listening to 00TZ 00TZ will drive the masses out of the house and on to the local industrial, ebm and goth club's dance floor.

Black Heaven History £13.75
Review
BLACK HEAVEN, side project of MANTUS, present for the first time their extensive history on double CD. This collection should not be regarded as a 'best of' in the accepted sense, but a retrospective which makes clear that BLACK HEAVEN have until now been unfairly underestimated.

BLACK HEAVEN are the other side of the coin. This project is not the opposite of MANTUS, but neither is it a sphere in which the musicians 'just want to mess about', as is so often the case with side projects. With the lyrical depth of their material, BLACK HEAVEN are certainly beyond all cliches; from pure dark poetry to the contrasting voices of Martin Schindler and Thalia. In contrast to the main project of the two protagonists, BLACK HEAVEN are more electronically-orientated and dispense with the rock guitars and bombastic classical arrangements without losing themselves in EBM stamping or standard future-pop pap. Instead, what we have here is a convincing attempt to drag intelligent, poetic lyrics out of the self-absorption of the lonely bedroom and onto the dancefloors of the clubs - the perfect mixture of rhythm, delicate sequences, danceable sounds and the lyricism which we already know from MANTUS. Dark vignettes which on the one hand, due to the unusual rhythms have a certain light-heartedness, but which on the other hand have gained emphasis due to the reduction in the musical elements. No MANTUS fan should ignore this "History", for BLACK HEAVEN have musical and lyrical surprises up their sleeves which simply have to be experienced. This retrospective provides the opportunity to do so.

Camouflage Spice Crackers £18.50
Review
CAMOUFLAGE are one of the few German bands to have been making music successfully at home and abroad for the last couple of decades. "The Great Commandment" (1987) and "Love Is a Shield" (1989) were actually worldwide hits. After four albums, CAMOUFLAGE felt it was time to experiment. This phase reached its zenith with the album "Spice Crackers" in 1995 - the most daring, most interesting work they ever released. Electropop tracks sit side by side with hypnotic, repetitive, spherical pieces which give a taste of what follows on the bonus disc.

The bonus CD contains 14 tracks, eleven of which have never before seen the light of day. Unlike any of their other productions, "Spice Crackers" drew heavily on extravagant live sessions and bold experimentation. Countless tapes and DATs mounted up, of which only a fraction made it onto the final album. Yet amongst the "rejects" were genuine pearls of 90s electronic music (dub techno, downbeat, electronica, intelligent dance music, ambient), evoking memories of the golden age of German electronic creativity, the 1970s. This is no ordinary bonus CD, it is an important, integral element of the re-release. Heiko Maile, CAMOUFLAGE founder member and producer of "Spice Crackers" says about this re-release: "It was a very formative and inspiring time for us in terms of album production, so the additional CD offers something of an insight into these works".

Mesh Only Better £7.00
Review
After three years of silence following the release of their successful album "We Collide", MESH return with "Only Better", the pre-release single to the forthcoming LP "A Perfect Solution" to be released in October. Those who are familiar with this British act will know that neither title is meant to be taken as optimistically as they may first appear, and those who let the music take effect quickly realize that it is precisely the opposite, for MESH have become harder, dirtier, and darker on "Only Better" than we have become accustomed to. The former synth-pop heroes are not afraid to break from convention and make use of guitars either, which will likely raise some eyebrows, particularly on the exclusive B-side "Shattered Glass".

Both songs are perfect previews to the style of the new album, both in music and lyrical content. Single and album deal with the less beautiful aspects of a relationship, painful compromises, fateful dependencies upon each other and because of each other, relationships whose best days are behind them yet are continued out of fear of giving them up rather than an emotional connection.

If that were not enough, the tracks also feature the incomparably melodic vocals of MESH frontman Mark Hockings, who is definitely to be regarded as one of the best singers in the genre.

Peter Bjargo A Wave of Bitterness £12.50
Review
The awesome solo album from ARCANA Mastermind Peter Bjärgö.

During the first few months of this year, the mentor of this legendary Swedish cult act has been busy recording a masterpiece in his very own studio. "A Wave of Bitterness" has turned out to be a Dark Ambient jewel with subtle leanings towards other styles too, the most visible of these being the Ethno sounding percussion, lending an atmosphere that bears a slight resemblance to DEAD CAN DANCE. Simply stunning.

The Frozen Autumn Fragments of Memories [Argentinian Import] £16.50
Review
FINALLY, a much, much overdue re-release of this legendary album! Founded in 1994, THE FROZEN AUTUMN quickly became well known and respected in the 'dark-romantic' music scene. After a very strong first album, they spent more than three years recording their second album "Fragments of Memories". It has been deleted for many years, but now this cult album from a cult band is now being re-releasedon Twilight, complete with new artwork and two bonus tracks (two remixes of "I'm Coming from Nowhere").

Please note, this album is being imported from Argentina in very limited quantities, so please order quickly!

Von Thronstahl Imperium Internum £12.75
Review
Originally released in the year 2000, re-released in 2001 and 2004 and unavailable since April 2006, Cold Spring is finally repressing this title. The incredible orchestral power of VON THRONSTAHL has found its first climax on this CD. "Imperium Internum" became an instant classic of its genre - massive orchestral arrangements and military anthems, akin to the finest moments of IN SLAUGHTER NATIVES, LAIBACH, TURBUND STURMWERK and BLOOD AXIS. Accompanied by a fantastic book packed with images of VON THRONSTAHL and their manifesto.

Poordream Immaterial Monarch £10.50
Review
John Valasis is a professional sound designer and a very talented young musician from Greece. Although he has been working as a producer and a mixing engineer for other artists for quite a few years while also composing his own music, this is the first time that John has officially released a part of his recent work under the moniker POORDREAM.

His aim is to decode the secret messages of a dreamy world by composing melancholic melodies and intricate, uncanny sounds, all put together within a masterly combination of elaborate programming and field recordings. "Immaterial Monarch" is his own adaptation of a truly exceptional experimental music conception, the absolute experience of an internal trip, in which no 'strict' sound forms belong. Drawing influences mainly from the "Zeitgeist" movie series, "Immaterial Monarch" features 3 tracks by POORDREAM, which carefully blend genres such as IDM, ambient, electronica and experimental world music, as well as the same-titled track remixed by no less than SEVEN different artists!

Since all the participating musicians come from different musical backgrounds (although they share common thoughts on how to deliver passionate and exciting music) this album proves to be an absolutely unique journey towards humankind's deepest feelings. Anger, despair, social and personal breakdown, man's self-exploration, the brain as the slave of the strong, and socially constructed loneliness portrayed as a mental cage for each and every one of us... These are only a few of those nighttime thoughts that, carefully but still chaotic, build up POORDREAM's futuristic world.

Psydoll 10 Spyglasses £12.00
Review
Japanese psyborgs PSYDOLL return from the workshop, having spent the last few years since their first European release "I PSYDOLL" perfecting the new album "10 Spyglasses" on live stages across the world. The result is ten tracks of their distinctive brand of gothic industrial metal pulverised through a manga-blender and performed by the trio of escaped, renegade psyborgs: Loveless on digital percussion, Ucchi on guitar and Nekoi on keyboards and vocals. These all-new tracks offer PSYDOLL's unique take on the alien world around them, with twisted fairytales of ghosts resting next to odes to the seedy side of Tokyo, all regaled with Nekoi's feline-enhanced vocals and each rich in a swathe of glitch electronics, construction-yard beats and searing guitar. Featuring tracks that have become firm fan favourites and sealed their reputation as a must-see live act, "10 Spyglasses" is an essential purchase for fans of the darker side of Japan.

Ever since their debut "Truth is Fanatic" exploded like a bomb, it has been impossible to imagine the clubs and the alternative charts without ROTERSAND. And with their new album, "Random Is Resistance", they have once again succeeded in performing the balancing act between club-friendly music and a total work of art, mixing chilled-out electrobeats with shimmering futurepop sequences, trance-like sounds with atmospheric samples, clear-cut melodies with warm and charismatic vocals, subdued new wave with classical strings. Nor do they shy away from acoustic guitars and pop hooklines, creating a unique universe that pulls together all strands of electronic music and which remains masterfully emotional and above all, intelligent. "Random Is Resistance' is the most perfect work to date from ROTERSAND's unique creative musical forge. Without doubt, in the world of electronic music, ROTERSAND once more claim their special position, not least because the intelligence of their lyrical message is mirrored in the skillfully employed variation of their music. Individualists who dance their way out of the grid, achieving musical resistance to the well-worn pigeonholes.

"Coincidence" is an unpredictable factor. To remain unpredictable was not only ever just an integral part of ROTERSAND's music. To remain unpredictable in a world in which we are (voluntarily) monitored and in which we relinquish all of our data and personal preferences in order to become the perfect controllable consumers - that is resistance! "Random Is Resistance" is guaranteed, like its predecessors, to implant itself into various charts, onto the dancefloors of the clubs and into the brains of the listeners. A collectors' piece which no fan of ROTERSAND should be without!

The first edition of "Random Is Resistance" is released as a lavish eight-panel digipak with an extensive booklet full of sombre illustrations which perfectly set the visual scene for the story and which can be described without over-exaggeration as a work of art.

Kraftwerk The Catalogue £67.00
Review
KRAFTWERK: Electro Pioneers, living legends and globally revered masters of electronic sound, celebrate the 35th anniversary of their landmark 1974 hit "Autobahn" by releasing digitally remastered versions of eight astounding albums in a special box set. Rolling back musical barriers with every forward-thinking phase of their career, Dusseldorf's Zen Masters of electronic minimalism laid the foundations for four decades of computerised pop and dance music. By chain reaction and mutation, they have influenced generations of artists in all genres, mapping musical futures yet to come. From BOWIE to DAFT PUNK, APHEX TWIN to PORTISHEAD, DR DRE to LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, and almost everyone in between, the mark of KRAFTWERK is endless, endless.

In 2009, KRAFTWERK have upgraded their Kling Klang masters with the latest studio technology and these eight magnificent recordings still sound like nothing else in the history of music. KRAFTWERK are unique, pristine, profound and beautiful. Decades may pass, but their streamlined synthetic symphonies stand outside time, as fresh as tomorrow, transcendent and sublime.

Perfidious Words Feel Like Me £12.75
Review
A cult band who almost slipped into oblivion return with a magnificent new album. PERFIDIOUS WORDS present what is only their third studio album in ten years, but some things need time in order to become fully realised. "Feel Like Me" is not only fully realised: it's perfect! An accomplished electro-pop album which will satisfy the longing of many fans. Whereas some bands have spent years indulging in wild experiments or creating generic chart-friendly mush, PERFIDIOUS WORDS create music which is a perfect mixture of the danceable, the sensitive and the catchy, without spillingn over into the realms of triviality. Warm, dark vocals combine with insanely catchy synth sounds to form a fervent album of electronic music. Full of spirit, full of sounds; exactly that which every electro-pop fan has waited in vain for years for...

Here it is! The ultimate work, which shows that after over 20 years, this genre is a long way from coming to an end. Those who liked the early works of YAZOO and ERASURE can't afford to pass this electro-pop pearl by. These aren't the 'sounds of the universe', simply single stars in the dark sky of electronic music, which shine all the brighter for it!

In addition to the CD, the album comes with an 80 minute DVD, which proves beyond doubt that PERFIDIOUS WORDS are exceptional musicians who understand their craft. With this concert recording, some studio sessions and a video clip, people will be asking themselves in astonishment where this band have been during these last few years in which we mourned the old gods, who with their most recent releases only disappointed.

Rabia Sorda Noise Diary £13.50
Review
"Noise Diary" is the second outing from HOCICO front-shouter Erk Aicrag's solo project, and here the energetic Mexican artist has created a new RABIA SORDA album that outshines his debut in all aspects. His harsh Electroclash/Cyberpunk hybrid sounds more versatile and melodic but also more aggressive and powerful. The self-confessed melody-junkie Erk has spiffed up his sound with more catchy elements than ever before. Vocally, Erk is also a jack of all trades, this time around taking the listener under fire with his most aggressive distorted screams outside of Hocico, angry punk shouts and raw but catchy melodies. With massive production from mixing desk wizard John Fryer, hard beats and driving bass lines, the album will take the club crowds by storm, but then that was to be expected from a man like Mr. Aicrag.

With "Noise Diary", RABIA SORDA prove once again with an energetic fusion of melody and aggression that they are the most interesting and unique hard electro act out there.

Assemblage 23 Compass [Deluxe] £18.00
Review
ASSEMBLAGE 23 and Tom Shear - there's no need to introduce the man behind this figurehead of electronic music. For almost ten years, he has provided the scene with a string of hits.

Still, his new album demands a closer look. It is not just his sixth studio album - "Compass" is a lot more than that. This album is the uncompromising presentation of Tom Shear's biggest strength, the composition of dreamingly beautiful ballads, relentlessly catchy tunes and club hits that will draw all the party animals to the dance floor. He is a real master of his trade, and on this newest work, he has achieved the feat of sticking to the sound all ASSEMBLAGE 23 fans love and hope for, while still creating a powerful and exiting new vibe. Listening to this album and discovering "Compass" in its whole glory is pure fun; it fascinates and electrifies.

All this combined makes sure that "Compass" is not just a treat for Shear's big fan base but will also excite all those who have not yet discovered the fascination of ASSEMBLAGE 23. The single "Spark" has already proven a strong and promising harbinger - but who would have thought that Tom Shear might surpass this benchmark in such a glorious way. For all those who love straightforward but also sophisticated and substantial electronic music, this album is not to be missed!

The very limited deluxe edition of "Compass" comes complete with bonus CD and in special, and very beautiful packaging.

Emilie Autumn Opheliac [Deluxe Second Edition] £16.50
Review
COURTNEY LOVE's 'anarchy violinist' EMILIE AUTUMN returns to the digital and physical shelves with her European smash "Opheliac". Updated and expanded for North American release, this new second 'deluxe' edition (and fourth version of "Opheliac" altogether!) features six additional songs and lots of never-before-available video footage - over 2 hours of goth-tastic pleasure. And this time around Emilie is keeping the spotlight all to herself. With appearances on Leno and Letterman already under her corset, glossy magazine covers, and guest spots on albums by artists as varied as OTEP, BILLY CORGAN, COURTNEY LOVE, as well as TV's Metalocalypse, Autumn's devilishly dark lyrics, metal-shredding violin solos, and industrial-strength voice reinvent 'gothic' for the masses... and goths have never had so much fun.

Visually and sonicly compelling, Autumn was recently chosen by Interview Magazine as one of their "14 Artists to Watch". The Los Angeles-born starlet's theatrical stage show is a sexy circus of glam-rock burlesque, backed by her evocatively-clad girl entourage "The Bloody Crumpets". Written in the style she calls "Victoriandustrial", "Opheliac" is a magnificent musical miasma reflecting Autumn's life: a child-prodigy's classical training and performances in the concert halls of the world, a passion for industrial and metal, and of course all things Vaudeville! Bravely and humorously addressing subject matter ranging from depression (with the harpsichord-driven "Opheliac") to self-mutilation ("Liar"), sexual abuse ("Gothic Lolita"), suicide ("The Art of Suicide") and Autumn's real-life experience as a psych ward inmate ("Thank God I'm Pretty”), "Opheliac" is truly a reflection of all of us!

The results are in; with Vaudevillian appeal, Autumn's signature electric violin, heartbreakingly lush orchestrations, hard-core beats, and intense lyricicsm, "Opheliac" is the musical calling card for the blue-black set! The finest harpsichord-heavy romp through soundscapes at midnight!
