Welcome to the weekly round-up of forthcoming releases. I've just got back from a great weekend in Utrecht at Summer Darkness in time to write this newsletter before we close for 12 days!
This is a real bumper issue, including the re-launch of magazines, as there will be no newsletter next weekend.
It's difficult to know where to start with so many big releases this week, but I've gone for the new EP from UK synthpop act MESH. After three years of silence following the release of their successful album "We Collide", MESH return with "Only Better", the pre-release single to the forthcoming album "A Perfect Solution". The Limited DVD + 2CD "The World's a Big Place" set is also available again in small numbers.
The long-awaited new album from ASSEMBLAGE 23 "Compass" will be arriving in mid-October, available as a standard CD and very limited deluxe edition, complete with a bonus CD that will include two exclusive remixes and three additional tracks that are currently still work-in-progress! More info to follow.
SUICIDE COMMANDO, a name synonymous with hard electronic dance music, release the new single "Die Motherf*cker Die" (played last night in Utrecht!) shortly. This formidable appetiser for the soon-to-be-released new album is topped off with two dancefloor-optimized remixes from NOISUF-X and C-LEKKTOR plus one previously unreleased B side.
After the quieter-than-anticipated "Bestie:Mensch", [:SITD:] are back with a new power album, and as befits its title, "Rot" is destined to shake the dancefloors worldwide! This release will also be available as a limited double CD.
A couple of offerings from the UK-based TOFFEETONES RECORDS now, in the shape of a special limited edition double album of LOUIS GORDON's finest work to date. "Electric Shock Treatment" is a semi-autobiographical look through the magic eye of Louis Gordon and the second CD, "The Motion Picture Event of the Year", perfectly extends the themes of "E.S.T." and takes you places you never expected to be...
TENEK have fought to be themselves through many different guises (GLASSHOUSE, THE NINE, ALIEN 6). Only now though have they found their true identity and "Stateless" is their call to arms. A combination of anger, pop, frustration, electronics, bewilderment and sheer determination bark out at you in every song. The much anticipated debut album from TENEK proves that music doesn't have to be disposable... For fans of MESH!
"Pulsión" is the all-new album by the legendary ESPLENDOR GEOMÉTRICO, the influential and acclaimed Spanish duo. "Pulsión" is based on the electronic manipulation of sounds together with irresistible rhythms, repetitive, machine-like, industrial, hypnotic, sometimes tribal, sometimes danceable, then layered over with voices and chants. Featuring live performances from the 2008 edition of the Kinetik Festival, the "Kinetik Festival DVD" is a one-of-a-kind showcase of some of industrial music's surging talent. The DVD features thunderous performances and previously unavailable footage from THE HORRORIST, ASCII DISKO, HEADSCAN, FUNKER VOGT, MEMMAKER, TERRORFAKT, ISZOLOSCOPE, THIS MORN' OMINA, FEINDFLUG, SONAR and countless others. This is a limited edition run of 800 hard copies and will never be reprinted.
DEATHWATCH ASIA - Japanese Special
We have a whole load of very limited (100-300 copies) Japanese releases from our friends at DEATHWATCH ASIA, including DOPE STARS INC.'s Criminal Intents/Morning Star, FGFC820's Law and Ordnance, OBSCENITY TRIAL's That Night, the new F*ck #1 MCD from SINS OF THE FLESH and the Infacted Asia club compilation.
Magazines
At last, we have found the time to bring back current editions of magazines to the site, to coincide with the long-awaited return of UNSCENE and the new issue (22) of DEVOLUTION. We also have back copies of DEVOLUTION issues 19, 20 and 21.
Gigs
Lots added here too, with three gigs for DOPE STARS INC., and London shows for the mighty PROJECT PITCHFORK, FADERHEAD and LAHANNYA. We also have details of additional support acts now for ALEC EMPIRE's London gig and the A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS' gig.
Summer Break
As our main supplier will be closed from 8th to 23rd August for their annual holiday and stocktaking, we will also be on holiday from the 12th to the 23rd. As such, we will be unable to place orders with our suppliers and ship goods to customers whilst we have a well-earned break (after working 7 days a week for the last 12 months). Your patience would be greatly appreciated whilst we are away.

Review After three years of silence following the release of their successful album "We Collide", MESH return with "Only Better", the pre-release single to the forthcoming LP "A Perfect Solution" to be released in October. Those who are familiar with this British act will know that neither title is meant to be taken as optimistically as they may first appear, and those who let the music take effect quickly realize that it is precisely the opposite, for MESH have become harder, dirtier, and darker on "Only Better" than we have become accustomed to. The former synth-pop heroes are not afraid to break from convention and make use of guitars either, which will likely raise some eyebrows, particularly on the exclusive B-side "Shattered Glass". Both songs are perfect previews to the style of the new album, both in music and lyrical content. Single and album deal with the less beautiful aspects of a relationship, painful compromises, fateful dependencies upon each other and because of each other, relationships whose best days are behind them yet are continued out of fear of giving them up rather than an emotional connection. If that were not enough, the tracks also feature the incomparably melodic vocals of MESH frontman Mark Hockings, who is definitely to be regarded as one of the best singers in the genre. Review In January 2007, MESH toured five German cities as headliners for the "Elektrisch!" festivals. The gig at the Kulturfabrik, Krefeld, brought this extraordinary tour to a successful close, which can now be re-lived by MESH fans everywhere on this wonderful DVD (the bands first DVD release). Mesh swept along their audience with an energetic performance and an exciting setlist including songs from the latest album "We Collide" alongside classics such as "People Like Me (With This Gun)". Review "Pulsión" is the all-new album by the legendary ESPLENDOR GEOMÉTRICO, the influential and acclaimed Spanish duo, survivors of the second Industrial wave of the early 80s! It includes nine tracks recorded between November 2008 and May 2009, some of which have already been played live with great success during the band's most recent performances in Leipzig, Madrid and Barcelona. ESPLENDOR GEOMÉTRICO's style continues to have that absolutely unique and unmistakable mark, distinguishing them from later bands upon whom they had a major influence. At first sight, "Pulsión" is based on the electronic manipulation of sounds together with irresistible rhythms, repetitive, machine-like, industrial, hypnotic, sometimes tribal, sometimes danceable, then layered over with voices and chants. Some of these elements were taken from traditional arab and oriental music, to be later electronically manipulated, others are simply speech fragments, including material from the radical Che Guevara, and there is even an anti-occidental harangue from an Islamist leader. But the idea of EG is not to transmit any political or ideological message, the sources have been chosen solely for their strength and sonority. Review reshly returned to Japan from their latest marathon European tour to promote the Russian release of the album "The Death Of The Flesh", Osaka-based SINS OF THE FLESH have now completed the first of tw concept mini-albums based on tracks from that album. Review Finally, this long awaited document is to be made available! Japan has been a wasteland for German Industrial and/or Power Electronics bands for many years, but in 2003, GENOCIDE ORGAN entered the motherland of noise. Invited by Teito and MSBR, GENOCIDE ORGAN played two remarkable shows in Tokyo. The first took place in a typical noise/hardcore club called 20000V, and the second at a small theatre called Die Pratze. Because of the different locations and atmospheres, G.O. prepared two completely different sets. While the material at 20000V featured tracks from what was, at the time, the forthcoming album "In-Konflikt", plus a selection of powerful, well-known tracks, the setlist at Die Pratze featured a calmer and more peaceful atmostpher integrated into a theatrical-type performance. Though very different, both gigs represent the repertoire of G.O., which makes this band more than just a phenomenon of one genre. The two shows are presented here on DVD in their entirety, edited from three different camera angles by Frank Merten of Seismic Wave Factory, known for the visuals of Herbst9 and Land:Fire. The DVD is professionally mastered and features a fully animated menu. In 2007, GENOCIDE ORGAN returned to Tokyo for two more shows, both hosted at 20000V, and again, each show had a different setlist. The audio CD in this collection features a selection of the best tracks from both evenings. Many had never been released or played live before, while some 'old favorites' appear here as completely different versions. Review In 2003, Pete Brough, founding member of German band TWELVE DRUMMERS DRUMMING, and Ralf Aussem, guitarist from the original 12DD cast and mastermind behind the hugely successful band SUN, joined forces with vocalist Carlo van Putten (THE CONVENT) and collectively gave life to DEAD GUITARS. In 2007 they were joined by Patrick Schmitz on drums and Sven-Olaf Dirks on bass guitar, a down-to-earth rhythm section providing a solid foundation within the DEAD GUITARS family. After the success of their 2007 debut "Airplanes" and their extensive European tour with THE MISSION in 2008 the band returned to the studio to record the new album. This time three members of THE MISSION collaborated and performed on the new album, Wayne Hussey ("Isolation"), Mark G. Thwaite ("Pristine") and Richie Vernon ("Blue"). The result is an album with 12 unique tracks representing the whole DEAD GUITARS universe including mid- and up-tempo tracks like "Miss America" and "Pristine", strong epic/psychedelic songs like "Silver Cross River" and moody pieces like "Lazy Moon" and "Raise Your Flags". The songs are covered by strong lyrics based on powerful and melancholic song-writing. Review In 1984 VORTEX CAMPAIGN invited COIL and THE NEW BLOCKADERS to collaborate. The result, unofficially referred to as "“Dolbied"”, was released on cassette in an edition of 50, and later reissued on CD in an edition of 500. The release has since gone on to become legendary, showcasing two of the most influential groups on the scene at the early stages of their development. “"The Melancholy Mad Tenant"” is an authorised release, sanctioned by all three groups. Formed in 1983 the output of COIL has ranged from the avant-garde, to experimental neoclassical, to extended excursions into pure electronica. Many bands and composers have cited COIL as an influence. They were originally mainly a studio group, but in 2000 they commenced a successful series of tours that proved to be extremely remarkable events. THE NEW BLOCKADERS began in 1982 with the release of their debut LP "“Changez Les Blockeurs"” which is cited by many as a defining moment in the history of noise music. TNB have gone on to influence a generation of artists from Japanese noise maestro MERZBOW to noise punks WOLF EYES. Limited edition of 500 copies on 180 gram clear vinyl. This album sees the band reach a new level musically. More soulful and raw than ever before, VNV NATION are moving into new musical territories with their own distinctive sound. "Of Faith, Power and Glory" is set to be the band's strongest and most profoundly evocative release yet, taking a big leap beyond what they had achieved on their last album "Judgement". The album features a cover designed by Polish graphic artist Michal Karcz, who also created the artwork for "Judgement". It is undoubtedly one of his finest works, featuring an image of a monument in the middle of a wasteland, a metaphor for all our greatest hopes and solemn intentions, as well as the brutal extremes that we are capable of, the schizophrenic nature of human beings and the eternal struggle to move forward. Review People who still believe that electronic pop music is no more than a relic from the 80s have obviously missed a lot. Review After three years of silence following the release of their successful album "We Collide", MESH return with "Only Better", the pre-release single to the forthcoming LP "A Perfect Solution" to be released in October. Those who are familiar with this British act will know that neither title is meant to be taken as optimistically as they may first appear, and those who let the music take effect quickly realize that it is precisely the opposite, for MESH have become harder, dirtier, and darker on "Only Better" than we have become accustomed to. The former synth-pop heroes are not afraid to break from convention and make use of guitars either, which will likely raise some eyebrows, particularly on the exclusive B-side "Shattered Glass". Both songs are perfect previews to the style of the new album, both in music and lyrical content. Single and album deal with the less beautiful aspects of a relationship, painful compromises, fateful dependencies upon each other and because of each other, relationships whose best days are behind them yet are continued out of fear of giving them up rather than an emotional connection. If that were not enough, the tracks also feature the incomparably melodic vocals of MESH frontman Mark Hockings, who is definitely to be regarded as one of the best singers in the genre. Review Rising electro-pop stars Code 64 started their career with the release of the much acclaimed "Storm" album on the Norwegian label Angel Productions. The album made it all the way to the top of the Nordic Alternative Chart ( NAC ) and was supported by the electrifying dancefloor single "Without You". "Storm" presented crystal clear, melodic and danceable futurepop, a genre the band have developed further on their new album "Departure", released by the Swedish Memento Materia label in April. "Departure" have been preceded by two singles - "Leaving Earth" and "Sea of Stars" ( released on the singles compilation "Dynamo Vol 1" ). Two singles where the band shows their electropop muscles - danceable beats, vivid, melodic soundscapes and strong, catchy refrains. "Departure" presents a total of 11 new songs, from more laid-back tunes like "Carry Me Home", together with more hardhitting, club anthems such as "Leaving Earth" and "Run to you".
