Welcome to our weekly round-up of forthcoming releases.

New from the excellent IAMX is "Dogmatic Infidel Comedown OK", a series of re-works and interpretations of songs from IAMX's third studio album "Kingdom of Welcome Addition" by the likes of COMBICHRIST, TERENCE FIXMER, ALEC EMPIRE, and AESTHETIC PERFECTION.

FRONT 242's "Vintage Tour" concept was so well-received across the globe that it is actually still running today. On "Moments in Budapest" F242 offer us yet another treasure: the very first live moments in the band's history, filmed in Budapest, Hungary in December 2008. We invite you to discover this exceptional second official live DVD, immortalizing once more the legend and genius of FRONT 242. 81 minutes of live material plus some extras including interviews and a photo gallery.

After quite a wait since PAINBASTARD's last album "Borderline", now finally a new album is coming. "Kriegserklärung" ('Declaration of War') offers the thirteen new tracks, representing a relentless work of maturity and originality. The precious limited digipak edition will contain a full-length bonus disc with fourteen previously unreleased tracks from the years 1998-2001.

"Live Execution '99" is the re-release on DVD of the VHS tape from German EBM/electro legends FUNKER VOGT. This is the original material, according to the standards of that time, so don't expect something like quality like "Warzone K17", but more a historic document. However, tons of bonus material has also been added, including even older footage, such as recordings from the Zillo Festival in 1998 (now M'Era Luna). As a special bonus, the DVD also includes the long deleted FUNKER VOGT Remix CD "t".

"Box 1" is the super deluxe 5CD Box-set, featuring the first albums and cassettes from ESPLENDOR GEOMETRICO, and other rare material from the period between 1980 and 1986. All material has digitally remastered, and the original cover-artworks have been carefully been reproduced as miniature paper sleeves of the original LP and cassette designs.

Hot off the heels of their critically-acclaimed 2009 LuBriCaTour, the REVCOs are back - bigger, thicker and nastier than ever! The eleven-track "Got Cock?" juxtaposes trashy subjects with classy high-end production values - the band's most powerful sound to date!

SLAVE REPUBLIC is the name of the latest addition to ACCESSION RECORDS roster. The duo stand for modern indie-pop where guitar, bass and synthesizers melt together to form danceable, clean and well-structured songs. The debut album "Electric One", being evidence of enormous musical maturity, composing ability and long-time experience, emerged out of a symbiosis of catchy refrains with the courage to experiment.

Recorded during the band's 2009 sell-out UK tour, the "Return to Eden" tour was the first time that the classic ULTRAVOX line-up of Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Criss Cross and Warren Cann had performed together in over two decades. ULTRAVOX now release the much anticipated live abum, which is also available with the DVD of "Return to Eden - Live at the Roundhouse".

Originally a child intellectual, JOHN FOXX subsequently joined the Royal College of Art before forming legendary outfit ULTRAVOX. After three albums he went solo in 1979. "Glimmer: Best Of" is a selection put together by John drawing from his entire solo career. A comprehensive 2CD retrospective featuring original hits, demos and alternate versions.

The long-awaited brand new album from GAË BOLG is full of craziness, deviant orchestral songs, cabaret savour and perverted psychiatric dancefloor anthems. "Petite Traité Gymnosophie" delivers eleven new direct and ultra-powerful tracks - bombastic, orchestral, mad hymns dealing again with happiness, craziness and the human condition.

"The Unquiet Grave" is the 2010 album release from ALIEN SKIN. With musical reference to artists such as DEPECHE MODE, MARTIN GORE, ENIGMA and DAVID SYLVIAN, this album contains eleven evocative songs, varying between pulsing analog basslines underpinning haunting vocal melodies and spacious atmospheric layers.

Lots of re-issues to finish with now, especially from Brummie New Romantics DURAN DURAN. Their eponymous debut album was originally released in 1981, charted at no. 3 in the UK and remained in the charts for 18 weeks. Featuring the three singles "Planet Earth", "Careless Memories" and "Girls on Film", it has now been re-issued in 2CD, 2LP and Deluxe Box formats.

"Seven and the Ragged Tiger", the third studio album from DURAN DURAN released in Nov 1983, has also had the same treatment. The album featured the singles "Union of the Snake", "New Moon on Monday", "The Reflex" (their first number one hit) and "Tiger Tiger" (Japan only).

And "Greatest Videos" is a collection of all the band's videos, digitally remastered, including the long uncensored and explicit versions of "Girls on Film" and "Come Undone". Nice!

One of the most successful and enduring groups of the New Romantics era, SPANDAU BALLET have shown they can still draw the fans with 2009's sold out UK tour. Their first two albums, "Journeys to Glory" and "Diamond" have now received the complete remastering treatment and come bursting with bonus material and previously unreleased tracks.

And to finish we have the first in a series of MARC ALMOND expanded re-issue CDs. "Open All Night" was originally released in 1999 and pays respect to the sound of SOFT CELL, whilst mixing in elements of R&B, gospel, latin and trip-hop. It features duets with Siouxsie Sioux and with former SNEAKER PIMPS vocalist Kelly Ally, plus an 18-track bonus disc curated by MARC ALMOND himself, containing original song demos, film soundtrack rarities and alternative versions of tracks recorded at the time.

Gigs

Three new London gigs have been added for THE DEEP EYNDE, PUNISHMENT OF LUXURY and CONJURE ONE.

Have a great week!

FRONT 242's "Vintage Tour" concept was so well-received across the globe that it is actually still running today... During the last couple of years, Belgium's very own pioneers of electronic music, FRONT 242, have performed live in front of many thousands of fans, all impressed by the early electronic music atmosphere they bring to the stage through the good old analogue sequences the band has reloaded to match the spirit of their time... Funker Vogt Live Execution '99 [Re-Issue] £19.75
Review
Re-release on DVD of the VHS tape "Live Execution '99" from German EBM/electro legends FUNKER VOGT. This release is especially for those fans who are always asking for this particular video to be made available on DVD. So here they get the original material, according to the standards of that time. Despite the age of the film material, the quality is still good and we believe fans will appreciate it! As a special bonus, the DVD also includes the long deleted Funker Vogt Remix CD "t"! Slave Republic Electric One £12.50
Review
SLAVE REPUBLIC is the name of the latest addition to Accession Records roster. The duo stand for modern indie-pop where guitar, bass guitar and synthesizers melt together to form danceable, clean and well-structured songs.

The band originally started in the early nineties as a quartet. After a long silence, they re-united as a duo three years ago, wrote new songs for a demo being produced by Olaf Wollschläger (who has worked with the likes of AND ONE, PARADISE LOST, etc.). With encouraged self-esteem they wrote the song "My Maker" which was mixed by Peter Jem Seifert of HIM. The debut album "Electric One", being evidence of enormous musical maturity, composing ability and long-time experience, emerged out of a symbiosis of catchy refrains with the courage to experiment. After a number of gigs with ASSEMBLAGE 23, the band will present their live qualities again in spring when they open several shows for DE/VISION and for SONO.

Recorded during the band's 2009 sell-out UK tour on April 30 at the legendary Roundhouse in London. The "Return to Eden" tour was the first time that the classic ULTRAVOX line-up of Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Criss Cross and Warren Cann had performed together in over two decades, and was followed by a highly successful European and festival tour that ran through the summer and into the autumn.

Following the success of last year's live schedule and the accompanying 'Best Of' release, ULTRAVOX look forward to another exciting live year in 2010, and also release the much anticipated live abum and DVD of "Return to Eden - Live at the Roundhouse".

After three albums he went solo in 1979, forming his own label (Metal Beat) for the purpose. He continues to work in the arts to this day and recently performed his debut solo album ("Metamatic") in its entirety at the ICA Festival and other key dates in the UK. Alien Skin The Unquiet Grave £15.25
Review
Immerse your subconscious in the enigmatic and subtle electronic sojourn of "The Unquiet Grave", the 2010 album release from ALIEN SKIN. "The Unquiet Grave" is a subterranean world of brooding songs that hauntingly weave themselves into your senses. With musical reference to artists such as DEPECHE MODE, MARTIN GORE, ENIGMA and DAVID SYLVIAN, this album is a perfect follow up to the acclaimed 2008 debut album "Don't Open till Doomsday". Beginning with an eerie and lush rendition of a mournful 14th century English folksong, itself called "The Unquiet Grave", the album continues the melancholic bloodline of the debut. With eleven evocative songs, varying between pulsing analog basslines underpinning haunting vocal melodies and spacious atmospheric layers, this album will mesmerize and beguile. ALIEN SKIN's unique alternative sensibility laced with trancey gothic undertones is, once again, to be found alive and breathing in "The Unquiet Grave".

Punishment of Luxury 7 [Re-Issue] £10.50
Review
From a background working in left-wing English fringe theatre groups, PUNISHMENT OF LUXURY were a four-piece post-punk band formed in December 1976 in the north-east of England. They released the single "Puppet Life" on the Small Wonder label in June 1978 and in 1979 were signed to United Artists and released the single "Jellyfish/Engine Of Excess" and the album "Laughing Academy".

1980 saw the release of the single "Secrets/Brain Bomb" which received great critical acclaim and sold well. An extensive European tour followed and United Artists sent the band into the studio to record another album, a concept album to be called "Gigantic Days". In 2007 the band reunited and played a few songs for the bassist Jimi Giro's 50th birthday party. A little more than a year later they landed a gig at a small pub in Gateshead, in the north-east of England, called The Three Tuns. Due to the success of this gig, the band are planning more live appearances in the future and possibly introducing more new material, of which a taster was given at the Three Tuns in the form of one song called "Fracture".

This album "7" was originally recorded for Red Rhino records in 1983, and now being re-released with bonus material, extensive notes and deluxe artwork.

Stephan Eicher Spielt Noise Boys £16.75
Review
It was in December 1980, when STEPHAN EICHER released a 7" single on the now legendary Swiss label Off Course Records. The single had an immediate and strong impact on the then still young electro/minimal punk scene and in particular the song "MiniMiniMiniMinijupe" has become a timeless classic of the scene, still being played today by DJs re-discovering the early 80s pioneering electro acts.

This is electro 80s minimal punk at its very best - think GRAUZONE meet D.A.F. meet SUICIDE!

STEPHAN EICHER recorded a total of seven songs (of which only five were later released on the debut 7") on a simple dictaphone recorder with no overdubs or mixing and purely with 'stolen' equipment (after the Police stormed the Spex Club where Stephan worked, causing the band that was supposed to play to leave behind their equipment...). He tried to reproduce tracks by his short-lived first band NOISE BOYS. The result was a MC, of which only 25 copies were ever produced, leading eventually to the 7" single by Off Course.

Only 6 months later he produced the undisputed No. 1 80s classic "Der Eisbär" with the band GRAUZONE, that he founded with his brother Martin Eicher. The song was in the official German sales charts for more than a year, staying in the top ten for weeks and selling over 600,000 copies. STEPHAN EICHER later started a solo career with a few releases on indie labels at first, and then with countless singles and albums on the French major label Barclay/Virgin later on. He is still a big star today, mainly in France and other French-speaking countries.

This re-release of his very first ever recordings comes with all seven tracks from the original MC release, including the two tracks that did not 'make it' on the 7" release from 1980!

Leaether Strip Retention No. 3 (Solitary Confinement + Voluntary Confinement) £25.25
Review
Here comes the most anxiously anticipated third volume of LEAETHER STRIP's "Retention" box series through which Claus Larsen is re-releasing his complete back-catalogue. Each re-release has both the fully remastered version of the original album (with special bonus material) on disc one and on the second disc, totally rewritten and re-interpreted versioms of some selected songs from the original album re-recorded with current technologies.

Once again, the "Retention No. 3" box includes two complementary albums: the first of which is the "Solitary Confinement" CD remastered by Claus Larsen himself, giving a stronger and wider sound to this chef d'oeuvre while staying very faithful to the original work. The original tracklist has also been extended to 16 tracks with the addition of tracks from the "Material" EP.

Next comes the "Voluntary Confinement" CD which gathers some 10 selected tracks taken from disc one, totally re-written and re-recorded by LEAETHER STRIP in the 2009 upgraded Strip Farm studio, benefiting from today's technologies and Claus Larsen's acquired expertise through the decades. Add to this two brand new songs with "Voluntary Confinement" and "The AEnd", as well as a very cool melodic "Taeknopop" version of the interstellar hit "Strap Me Down".

"Solitary Confinement" is without any doubt the album that has forever seated the Danish artist on the throne of classic dark EBM. An album frothing with countless club hits in the likes of "Strap Me Down", "Adrenalin Rush" and "Evil Speaks"... an album that established LEAETHER STRIP as THE reference point for aggressive electronics with distorted vocals performed with a strong sense for melody and carrying choruses. The fully extended power blast is a guarantee for LEAETHER STRIP's faithful and ever growing fanbase. The "Retention" series proves once and for all that Electronic Body Music is NOT dead and allows the younger fan generation to discover the early work of the living legend LEAETHER STRIP. Once again a series proving that good old giants still have what it takes to command today's dancefloors. These discs are NOT available separately and are only sold in this deluxe carton box.

Absurd Minds Serve or Suffer £12.75
Review
For ten years, East German darkwave/electro project ABSURD MINDS, brainchild of singer Stefan Grossman, have played on national and international stages. Having started as a home studio project by Tilo Ladwig and Stefan Grossman, the way of the band rapidly changed in 1999 with their first gig at the scene club 'Bunker' in Dresden: it ended with a contract with the label Scanner run by Frank d'Angelo.

Their very first release, 2000's album "Deception", struck with great force into the world of the dark scene. Several albums and singles have been released over the following years. Based on their initial success and the progress they made, they were given a permanent place in the alternative music business. Stylistically inspired by the electro of the early 90s, the music of ABSURD MINDS is a successful synthesis of melodic pop, powerful EBM and profound lyrics, forming a coherent unit unparalleled so far.

Due to that style ABSURD MINDS now have a very large and enthusiastic global fan base and the success story of the boys from Dresden is bound to continue when a new chapter is opened with the release of the new album "Serve or Suffer". Ten years after "Brainwash" they prove that they have not lost any of their energy or independence. "Serve or Suffer" surprises with a well-executed fusion of melodies, emotional diversity and memorable compositions. Unmistakable ABSURD MINDS!

The highlight of the early year 2010.

Zeromancer The Death of Romance £13.75
Review
Who would have dared to hope that there would ever again be an album which could unite melancholy sadness and with a rock sound in such an absolutely perfect and catchy fashion? This is an album which simply takes one's breath away. So full of beauty, so full of melancholy and yet so full of unbridled rock power. With "Sinners International", the lads from the north proved that they had once more recaptured the essence of their own debut. Radiant, vibrant and beguiling. Shimmering, fascinating and mysterious. "The Death of Romance" shines in the darkness like the aurora borealis. Back to the beginning and yet at the same time forward-looking. Dark romantic ballads with stunning hook lines in the form of driving, modern industrial rock.

ZEROMANCER are a new and perfect unity of sex, emotion and energy. Rock music is finally that which it always should have been. Unaffected and impressive, for girls and boys. On the one hand, with a tear in the eye, full of yearning; on the other going crazy for the pounding drums and loud electric guitars. Never has one needed to be so unembarrassed about one's feelings as with this powerful romantic rock album. "The Death of Romance" is a flawless construction of sweat-inducing industrial rock with a large dollop of emotion.

NTRSN People Like Gods £14.75
Review
The Belgian duo NTRSN (pronounced as 'intrusion') deliver old-school electronic sounds of the like that can only be achieved by utilizing 100% analog equipment, and yet they still deliver a sound that is current, modern... almost futuristic. Supported by FM (PANKOW) and Peter Van Bogaert (LIQUID-G), this release offers the hard cutting edge alongside the beautifully melodic.

NTRSN - inspired by bands like CABARET VOLTAIRE, FRONT 242 and SPK - are fanatical synth-enthusiasts, with a passion for analog systems, machines and visual presentation. In 2005, Pieter David (known from his time with the bands CARBON TWELVE, DKW, MINIMALISTIX and CODE BY CODE) began working with Bram Declercq, who works in the photography industry (and also the new singer of recently re-born legendary Italian electro-pioneers PANKOW) thus creating a band that was about much more than just the music, a band that offers a full audio-visual experience to their live audiences.

Packaged in a beautiful digipak designed by FM, graphic designer and leader of PANKOW, NTRSN stands for hard-edged and beautiful analog electronics...

Inkubus Sukkubus Viva la Muerte £13.75
Review
INKUBUS SUKKUBUS' new release tells the story of a couple celebrating their wedding on 'Dia de los Muerto' - the Mexican Day of the Dead.

The 10 tracks relate their eternal love and how nothing - not even death - can divide them. The Spanish/Mexican feel to the music conjures the passion and excitement of fiesta, the tragic melancholy of loss and the defiant spirit that love will endure all.

This - INKUBUS SUKKUBUS' 12th studio release - is a partial departure from the band's usual style. While still distinctly INKUBUS SUKKUBUS, there is a definite uniting theme that was only explored previously on the track "Dia de los Muertos" from the CD "Witch Queen".

A tribute to the Mexican way of life and death...

Cryo Hidden Aggression £12.75
Review
In 2006 Martin Rudefelt aka CRYO released his debut album "Cryogenic" to EXCELLENT worldwide reviews. It even won him a SAMA award as best newcomer in the electronic music scene. In 2007 he took the DAC, NAC and other alternative charts by storm with the release of the mini-CD "Mixed Emotions" which was more club/dance oriented. "CRYO has a unique twist to his music" the media wrote. "It's cold and static yet danceable and catchy."

And now in 2010 CRYO returns with the brand new album "Hidden Aggression" which is nothing less than a true masterpiece. If this doesn't launch CRYO as one of the top names within the electronic scene... nothing will. Danceable and rhythmic with beats that will crush the dancefloors to pieces with its driving force, yet is still melodic. "Hidden Aggression" is the future of electronic music, the next stage in its development.

It's not just good. It's simply FANTASTIC!! One of the strongest album this scene has EVER experienced... and those are not empty sales words. Released on Progress Productions, known worldwide for their high quality standard.

The Jesus and Mary Chain Darklands £19.75
Review
The second album from the brothers Reid, originally released in 1987, "Darklands" is more accessible and hooky than "Psychocandy", leaving most of the feedback and some of the noise behind to focus on the songs, making a clear break from the legendary debut album. With tracks such as "April Skies", "Darklands", "Happy When It Rains" and "Nine Million Rainy Days" the Reids proved they had plenty of great songs in them and wouldn't be boxed in by the past. An all out classic, now re-issued on 180g vinyl.

Quimera Music Love and Madness [Argentinian Import] £16.75
Review
QUIMERA MUSIC's debut studio album, "Love and Madness" is the follow up to her first single "Face to Face" written by Quimera and Patrick Rundbladh, and also to a special release single (not album related) called "When Tomorrow Comes", that she wrote to benefit children from The Smile Train charity, for which she is a spokesperson.

"Love And Madness" reflects Quimera's unique style mix of classical baroque, gothic and symphonic sounds, carefully crafted int powerful music that is paired with lyrics of deep meaning. The songs on "Love and Madness" are epic enough to be in a Hollywood film... no cookie cutter here. There is also a shiver-inducing symphonic gothic rendition of "Ave Maria".

The artist states "'Love and Madness' is more than my debut album, it is my own revelation of love, fear, hope, and the touch of madness which I believe is inherent within all powerful feelings. I want my music to inspire others, to take them places in their minds, and maybe even help them go through whatever difficult thing they may be going through, perhaps things they can't even speak about to anyone. Music is the only way I know to express the inexpressible."

"Love and Madness" includes songs by Quimera and Patrick Rundbladh, as well as songs by guest composers Francesco Tedesco, Troy Maturo and KaoSoi.

Faderhead Trilogy £13.00
Review
When it became apparent at the end of 2009 that the last remaining CD copies of the FADERHEAD albums FH1, FH2 and FH3 would soon be sold, the decision was made to create a 'best of' compilation of the most popular songs from these three records.

From club smashes like "Tanz, Zwo, Drei, Vier" and "Dirtygrrrls/Dirtybois" to electropop hits like "Girly Show" and "Mono Man" to fantastic ballads like "Exit Ghost" and "Vanish", this 18-track CD includes everything that made the first three FADERHEAD records so special. Otherwise they wouldn't all be sold out...

This digipak is a MUST-BUY for anyone who doesn't yet own any FADERHEAD CDs or who has an incomplete collection!

Kiew Mental [Per]mutation £16.75
Review
Welcome to a new audio therapy in the electro madhouse! On "Mental [Per]mutation", our favourite patients dive deeper into the everyday life of the institution, unearthing a sonic rollercoaster ride of thudding mutated dancefloor industrial hybrids ("Käferfrühstück", "Mister 29" and many more), acoustic experiments, and instrumentals with a soundtrack-like feel (the "Retrograd" series.) During the course of the album, the listener will gain deep insights into psychoacoustic excerpts from the patients' files, strange new forms of therapy and numerous soliloquies, often between multiple personalities.

"Mental [Per]mutation" includes a second disc on which special cases from outside the institution (among them the NYC techno legend LENNY DEE) have gained access to KiEw's sound files to inject them with their very own madness. Welcome to Disco Dementia! Only one question remains: are the musicians mad or is it the listener?

CeDigest Walking in the Flesh £12.25
Review
The official CEDIGEST debut, "Walking in the Flesh", is one of the most suprising releases of 2010! Originally founded as a digital hardcore act, the current sound of CEDIGEST can be best described as 'Terror-EBM' or 'Symphonic Industrial Metal'. The band skillfully manage to include a wide range of musical influences into their work including classical, trance, metal and so on and in so doing, walk a completely new path with their sound. PSYCLON NINE and DAWN OF ASHES tried to do this - but CEDIGEST finally managed it! With this album, they prove that they are nothing less than one of the most promising acts on the worldwide industrial scene.

Mommy Hurt My Head Mommy Hurt My Head £12.75
Review
MOMMY HURT MY HEAD from Aarhus, Denmark are what could be the most exciting new thing on the harsh electronic scene for years. Their hard, direct, and uncompromissing sound brings us back to the time when music was made with synthesizers not with computers, and when distorted vocals were made via tube-driven pedals not with plugins.

The Danish electronic scene always had a special sound with acts like LEÆTHER STRIP, PSYCHOPOMPS, BIRMINGHAM 6. But somewhere towards the end of the 90s, this sound totally disappeared and with it much of the Danish scene. MOMMY HURT MY HEAD brings both that special sound and the raw energy back. Denmark is more than ready to be a name on the map again.

Despite this album being their debut album, the people behind the band are no newcomers to the scene. Der Doktor for example was one of the persons in Danish cult industrial duo ARZT+PFUSCH. Abn pAn also has an impressive track record with acts like DEADSTATE 81, GLASS DESCRIPTION and PAN AND THE G9 SLUG.

To fans of harsh old school electronic music like FRONTLINE ASSEMBLY, LEÆTHER STRIP and SKINNY PUPPY, this release will be nothing less than a real feast for the ears. ANd the really cool artwork for this CD was actually made by the youngest artist we have ever hired - a five-year old Danish girl.

Hioctan Under Control £12.25
Review
HIOCTAN have always been a band far away from any conformity or social conventions. "Under Control" is their third longplayer and the typical HIOCTAN sound still kicks ass. Classic dark electro, combining harsh sounds and distorted vocals (as well as choirs and kettledrums) with melancholically arranged strings, culminating in an album full of corroding interhuman feelings. Honest music for honest people! "Under Control" does not even try to keep up with modern trends - in particular, the audio engineering was put into special focus in order to create a sound more transparent than on any HIOCTAN release before. And as ever, their lyrics are very critical towards social issues. The track "Aim of Life" deals with all the people who try to live in line with social conventions - bound to rules they are forced to obey - waiting for the end to come in the neverending spiral of time. "Passion of Cruelty" denounces the persecution of heathens, while "Sonderbehandlung 14f13" addresses genocide during WWII.

The Colombian cyber/industrial/dark electro project PSYBORG CORP is ready to attack! John Foxx My Lost City £12.50
Review
Most of the material on this album was recorded at Foxx's Shoreditch studio, The Garden, between 1981 - 1985. "I hadn't listened to the recordings that are being released as the "My Lost City" album since they were made, over twenty years ago", says Foxx. "When I played them I was struck by the way they evoke a time and a place - and how I'd been unaware of this when they were made. Then they seemed like fragments, unfinished and unsatisfying. A stop on the way to somewhere else. Now they seem like a time capsule discovered from under the streets. Made by someone else. Like an old radio tuned into a long gone station. Curious psychic electricals, crackling distantly from the speakers."

"They were recorded in East London. Back then, Shoreditch and Spitalfields were abandoned, dark and forgotten, yet only a step away from the City of London, the country's financial dynamo. I built a studio in the basement of an old Edwardian department store - trees growing from the upper storeys when we moved in. I remember trying to make connections in this little laboratory between synthesizers and hymns and cities, churches, electricity and memory."

For two decades the material remained untouched; just some old, forgotten tapes buried away in storage until they were rescued in late 2008. Apart from some minor remixing, they're essentially the sound of analogue synthesizers and a lost era when the area around the now bustling, brutally hip and ultra-expensive Hoxton Square was still an abandoned, deserted area of London. A kind of industrial ghost-town. In recent years, John Foxx has been experimenting as a filmmaker (including a pioneering video for L.F.O. and recent performances of his Super 8 project TINY COLOUR MOVIES in Melbourne, London and Barcelona), as an artist (with exhibitions in London and New York and his images being used on the covers of books by Anthony Burgess and Salman Rushdie), and he's now developing a growing international reputation as a writer - last year he headlined a major literary festival where he reads extracts from his as yet unfinished novel "The Quiet Man". He is currently working on new material with Paul Daley (LEFTFIELD) and Benge.

Mind.In.A.Box R.E.T.R.O £12.75
Review
Spring 1982. The American computer company Commodore releases the first really potent home computer, impressing the growing computer community with technical specifications like 64 Kilobytes RAM and an 8 bit processor with separate graphic andsound chip units: The Commodore 64. This device opened a whole new world for home computer users, it became the world's most popular and successful home computer of the 80s and still holds that title today. The reason was not only a separate cutting-edge graphic accelerator that enabled high resolution gaming and fluent scrolling, but also the unique SID sound chip which was equipped with modern sound effect generators and the capability of three-track polyphonic playback. The result was a new synthetic sound aesthetic which also made the C64 one of the first stand-alone synthetic music production devices. This unique sound kept ringing in the memory of Austrian Stefan Poiss, founder and singer of MIND.IN.A.BOX. He was intrigued by the catchiness and the different sound-design of early computer game classics like "Lightforce" and "Last Ninja 3". By the age of 12 he took his first steps in composing music on the C64, and even wrote his own sequencer music software for the Commodore to put tracks together himself with more ease.

Fast forward to 2009: MIND.IN.A.BOX have just finished their successful album trilogy "Lost Alone", in which they redefined electronic music sound design. Their version of techno pop gains them sublicenses and successful releases in North America as well as in Russia and has already built them a considerable fan base. Now they move back to their own roots with "R.E.T.R.O.", an homage to the days when they sat in front of their C64s, baffled by the amazing sounds that came out of it. On "R.E.T.R.O." they cover computer game classics like "Lightforce" and "The Last V8" - the Mind.In.A.Box way - and mix them with their own songs: compositions like the incredibly catchy "8Bit" meet the symphonic "Whatever Mattered", and deliver an album that holds a neat balance between experimental and the much appreciated quality and identity that MIND.IN.A.BOX are known for so far. But most importantly, they manage to combine their own sound design with the fascination of the 80s videogame soundtrack era.

The CD's booklet also holds explanations from Stefan Poiss and sidekick Markus Hadwiger on what fascinated them about the Commodore 64 video game aesthetics, and how this transformed them into electronic music software creators themselves. As such it also holds interesting insights into what makes MIND.IN.A.BOX special as an electronic band and why their sound developed the way it did. As an additional goodie, the booklet holds a code for additional bonus tracks to download from the band's website.

Mantus Demut £13.75
Review
That which accumulated during the years of tranquility and silence seems to have been quite something! With undiminished, exuberant creativity and strength, MANTUS release their latest masterpiece, "Demut", even as the last sounds of "Requiem" have barely faded away.

On "Demut", MANTUS continue the lyrical themes of "Requiem", grappling with the subject matter of the 'vanitas' art movement of the 16th and 17th centuries, which held that man should visualise the finality of all things and that death stands by as the omnipresent power over us all, so as to teach us humility ('Demut' in German). Nevertheless, or perhaps indeed because of this, MANTUS have created an extremely powerful, indeed rocking album.

Once again, melancholy classical arrangements come up against metallic guitars; piano chords and indescribable harmonies meet powerful rhythms; rock hooklines meet emotional vocals. The production is extremely impressive and emphasises the expressive depth of the musical and lyrical world of MANTUS all too clearly. It's just a case of turning up the volume, closing your eyes and immersing yourself in the powerful songs which leave out no emotion, from sombre mourning and playful tenderness to melancholy daydreaming.

MANTUS are once again on top of their game and raise the bar somewhat higher than on their last album. "Demut" is no background CD, but a dark pearl among the musical mishmash, created for all those who have an open heart and open ears. For all those who are prepared to lose themselves in the symphonic mixture of gothic-wave, metal guitars, classical elements, the contrasting vocals of Martin Schindler and Thalia and the poetic breadth of MANTUS. Let yourselves go!

"Demut" is an accomplished and emotional work.

Mergel Kratzer Isotop £17.50
Review
The overhyped golden age of 'neo-EBM' is long gone, presently consisting of a handful of exceptions among a flock of hopelessly outdated projects. Innovation? Negative. FRONT 242's "Geography" and NITZER EBB's "That Total Age" clearly belong to another age - a fact that is widely ignored in spite of the cult surrounding these works.

But salvation is at hand: as was the case with SPETSNAZ at the beginning of the new millennium, the much-needed new blood for a weakening scene once again comes from Sweden. Equipped with power, attitude and character, MERGEL KRATZER enter the hard-fought arena, determined to awake the stagnating genre from its slumber. And they are dead serious: replacing combat boots, camouflage trousers and bald heads with two fistfuls of style. To the left and right of music addict and mastermind Joel Nygren, the two alluring damsels Thistel and Julia provide both musical and optical attractions. EBM was never sexier - that's a promise!

The Gothenburg-based three-piece storm through their debut "Isotop" and unleash a highly addictive energy seldom found in today's scene. Bone-dry beats directly from the EBM manual and the fusion of Joel's direct vocals with Thistel's seductive orders form the outline of a sound which is fascinatingly armed with the modern weaponry of electronic dance music. No doubt, MERGEL KRATZER pay adequate tribute to a classic genre. With smashes like the marching "Prisoner" and "Iso", the legitimate EBM anthem of the new decade, banging through the strobelight-riven fog, one thing becomes crystal clear: this is neo-EBM in its purest form: stylish, sizzling, full of cool energy... and at any time as irresistible as only Swedish girls can be.

"Isotop" is being released as a limited double digipack featuring three sold-out Sweden-only EPs on a bonus disc accompanying the revolutionary debut, tracing the Swedish act' development back to 2004.

Forget meaty paroles and goose-steps: MERGEL KRATZER are the new contemporary face of Electronic Body Music. And it is devilishly handsome.

Inertia Kloned £12.50
Review
INERTIA are back! After a three year absence since 2007's well received "Inertia" album, the band return with a brand new release "Kloned".

"Kloned" is an album of cover versions by INERTIA executed in their own inimitable brand of electro industrial, with male and female vocals. The band tackle some of their favourite songs from over the years, some for musical reasons, some purely for the fun of it, including the likes of T-REX, THE BEATLES, FALCO, NICK CAVE, DURAN DURAN, THE SPARKS, CONCRETE BLONDE, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, ELVIS PRESLEY, SELENA & DAVID BYRNE and DEPECHE MODE.

This collection of wonderful songs, some well known classics, others more obscure findings, are bound to spawn a whole host of new dancefloor hits for INERTIA.

The Pain Machinery Total Recall EP £10.50
Review
THE PAIN MACHINERY are back!

Remix EP from swedish industrial mayhem TPM that includes 11 tracks in total for a duration of more than 57 minutes, to advertise the release of their new conceptual album "Urban Survival", featuring among others CHEMLAB's Jared Louche and scheduled for winter, 2010. The EP combines electro-punk with the old school EBM and noise, and includes an alternative version of title track in the german language and completed especially for german fans. One of the remixes here has also been made with the participation of CONTAINER 90.

Having recently joined forces with Advoxya Records the new material sees TPM going in a more electronic direction while keeping the edge and aggression of their earlier work. The lead track, "Total Recall", is presented in a variety of mixes showcasing the band's ability to forge classic heavy-duty basslines, disciplined beats and commanding vocals into a sound that brings early EBM straight into the future.

Alien Produkt Honour vs Falsehood - The First Step EP £10.50
Review
ALIEN PRODUKT make a great return with their newest release "Honour vs Falsehood - The first Step EP". It is the first in a series of two EP releases to mark two distinct phases of the band.

Rhythmic EBM machines combined with a powerful voice and a strong melodies will stay with you from the start throughout the fourteen songs included, giving more than 70 minutes in total. There are two completely new tracks and unpublished remixes from A7IE, ASSEPTIC ROOM, RETRACTOR and DRAINED SCORN among others. Pure EBM beats with a perfect combination of club-oriented sounds - hard, emotional and danceable. This is certainly a release in the band's own unmistakable style, easily recognised from their previously published albums on BLC Productions - "Revenge" (2005) and "Ignorance" (2007).

And further more, be prepared for another attack from the aliens - the next release is due very soon!

DeadJump Animus Necandi £11.75
Review
DEADJUMP arose from dark elektro band BRUTAL DIVERGENZ. Alex, the man behind the DEADJUMP, released the first demo entitled "Holy Mind" under this name. After the acquisition of new equipment, he rebuilt his concepts, trying out new sounds and composed "Virtual Masturbation of a Bastard Leader", issued in 1997 by 4D Records. In 1999, DEADJUMP released "Causa Mortis", the remix album, just to give a break from composition but to remain present in the electro scene. In 2000, the full length album "Post Mortem" was released, including extra tracks remixed by SLEEPWALK, PLASTIC NOISE EXPERIENCE, PROJECT-X and UNFORMED.

After a break lasting until 2006, Alex returned with a new release called "Immortal". Signing to Advoxya records was the next step. From this followed a remix EP - "Scare Mix" and the album "Post Immortal", which contains the best tracks from previous era of DEADJUMP plus hard-beat remixes from CONTROLLED COLLAPSE, DRAINED SCORN and IAMBIA among others.

And now, finally, here is the first new full album since 2006 from the leader of the Brazilian electro scene: "Animus Necandi". Ten new tracks and remixes from LARVA and ACYLUM. "Animus Necandi" represents a wider evolution of the DEADJUMP's music and sound creation. It's pure evil - dark, aggressive and melodic! Dance with a knife.
