Welcome to the weekly round-up of forthcoming releases. There's a lot to keep synthpop fans happy this week.

Starting with "Live" from AND ONE. The jam-packed double CD and double DVD are simply the best of the best. The CD version includes 39 hit songs and the DVD has 54 songs, recorded between 2004 and 2008. All the hits are included, spanning their entire career, plus lots of highly original cover versions. Add to that all the video clips the band have ever produced, a 'making of' film, plus a complete concert recording from 1989.

KIRLIAN CAMERA are one of those special acts that manage to fuse sonic experiments, club-compatibility, anthemic pathos and a wholly unique aura into a one-of-a-kind experience. As such, a comprehensive retrospective of this Italian cult band is more than overdue, especially since large parts of their older discography are now out of print. However, on this long-awaited compilation entitled "Odyssey Europa", the band are not content with just looking back on their past. Instead, they cleverly build a bridge to their current sound by including new recordings of their classic tunes as well. Also available is a 4CD box set, with deluxe booklet and two posters, and also includes selected rarities, unreleased tracks and remixes on two more discs. This box set is very limited so please order fast!

Legendary pop heroes ERASURE release a 21st Anniversary edition of their classic album "The Innocents". Originally released in 1988, "The Innocents" was their first album to hit the UK no. 1 spot. Featuring the singles "A Little Respect", "Ship of Fools" and "Chains of Love", the album secured their position as one of Britain's most beloved and enduring song writing duos. The 2CD+DVD version includes a whole host of bonus material. Additionally, the "Phantom Bride EP" features contemporary remixes of four key tracks from the same album, alongside a 2009 remastered version of the original track.

The Berlin-based trio SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS unleash the new album "In the Eye of the Beholder", placing as much emphasis on good song-writing, catchy melodies and multi-faceted arrangements as on club-compatible beats and solid bass. The first edition of this CD will be released in a cardboard sliderpak, and comes with a bonus disc that features remixes, rarities and unreleased tracks.

"It Sounds Like Love (But It Looks Like Sex)" - ZEROMANCER couldn't have thought of a better title for the next single from their hit album "Sinners International"! Bringing us enticing hooklines, slightly melancholy and poppy basslines, fat guitar riffs, powerful beats and certifiably catchy melodies. In addition to a couple of remixes, the EP finally contains the long-awaited DEPECHE MODE cover "Photographic", which is one of the band's biggest live hits. Also included is the collaboration with PIGFACE, "Mercenary".

Never one for short titles, "The Goat... and Other Re-Animated Bodies (Like a Corpse Standing in Desperation 4)" is the new DVD from SOPOR AETERNUS & THE ENSEMBLE OF SHADOWS. These video recordings demonstrate in an impressive, disturbing and absolutely magical way what is meant by 'musical therapy for the spiritually dysfunctional'.

The creative strength of Peter Spilles is inexhaustible. "Rocket Heart" is the new EP from his unconventional side project SANTA HATES YOU. Stomping beats, driving sequencers and apocalyptic sounds are skilfully mixed with dark, aggressive vocals. In addition to a cover version of the AND ONE hit "Deutschmaschine", it also contains remixes by STRAFTANZ, SOMAN and REAPER plus a further bonus track.

IMMINENT STARVATION has been a leading light of powerful industrial music and advanced electronics. It has taken 10 years for "Cask Strength" to mature, since the last album "Nord" and in between dropping the "STARVATION". Straight beats interwoven with sophisticated breaks, brilliantly placed samples, intertwining powerful atmospheric synth textures and forceful distorted sequences. Also available as a special limited edition wooden box, with laser engraving and ornaments, and vinyl.

OBSCENITY TRIAL mastermind Oliver Wand is back with his third studio album "Soulstrip". It features ten tracks, including the singles "Über's Wasser Gehen" and "Glück Auf", both of which have been very successful on German radio stations and in the charts. "Soulstrip" is a very good and mature album, well-produced with great electronic pop tunes. The "Über's Wasser Gehen" single features several remixes and live versions of "Here and Now" and "Seven Nation Army".

The recently-released pill in the form of the EP "Hellektrostar" still hasn't been properly digested, thus the cyber-trance-industrial stars from EXT!ZE will now administer the full dose. "FallOut Nation" is a swirling mixture of sounds, beats, samples, sequences and vocals, which are crazier and more varied than before. These 15 tracks include remixes by FABRIK-C and THE LADDER.

URCEUS EXIT's second release "Compensation for the Sound of Silence" is an unforgettable pop album. For synthpop, it is miles ahead of what is on the market today. Lyrically and musically, frontman Richard Duggan has over-reached and extended the possibilities of electronic pop beyond anyone's wildest expectations. This limited edition comes complete with a second disc containing alternate versions of every track - versions that give the album a new freshness and a different spin.

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Scar" is the first full length album from RAZORBLADEKISSES, encompassing nine years of the band's history in one dark, twisted fairytale-styled movement. From dark trip hop tracks like "The Butterfly" and "No Strings Attached" to the pounding rock of "New Nightmare" and "Teddy" this is truly an album that delivers on all fronts.

And finally, the next in the series of re-releases by ELEGANT MACHINERY is here! Swedish label Energy Rekords now presents the re-release of the classic third album, originally released in 1996 and unavailable for many years now. "Yesterday Man" includes timeless synthpop pearls such as "Myself With You", "Save Me", "Fading Away" and many others!

Merchandise

To support the long overdue return of IMMINENT there's a new T-shirt, Girlie shirt and Whisky tumbler.

There are also T-shirts from MARILYN MANSON, LACUNA COIL and local EBM heroes CYBERCIDE.

Gigs

Those of you following MUSIC NON STOP on Twitter will already know about the extra London show for VNV NATION, added due to phenomenal demand!, and COMBICHRIST's only UK headline shows - early show / late show.

Also, the excellent AESTHETIC PERFECTION, St Helen's top electronic outfit SKINJOB, and London acts SYSTEM:FX and CONCRETE LUNG have been added to the GRENDEL undercard. Should be a good one!

Have a great week!

And One Live £25.50
Review
AND ONE have never been a band to be satisfied with anything less than superlatives. But, as opposed to the empty phrases most politicians have to offer, the Electronic Body Pop band fronted by Steve Naghavi are sticking to their promises: the long planned and now finally completed double live DVD is the most comprehensive live experience ever to be released on this medium.

54 live songs, recorded between 2004 and 2008 in Berlin, Hamburg and Hildesheim! All the hits are included, spanning their entire career, plus lots of highly original cover versions of delightful tunes and the typical zaniness that accompanies any AND ONE gig, including an always lively interaction with the audience.

Add to that all the video clips the band have ever produced, a 'making of' film, plus a complete concert recording from 1989.

Any questions?

...but who, for God's sake, are Diana, Steffi, Julia, Mandy and Anke???

Kirlian Camera Odyssey Europa £16.50
Review
KIRLIAN CAMERA are one of those particularly special acts that cause connoisseurs to rave about how good they are with glowing eyes, that manage to fuse sonic experiments, club-compatibility, anthemic pathos and a wholly unique aura into a one-of-a-kind experience and that has been able to span generations of fans. As such, a comprehensive retrospective of this Italian cult band is more than overdue, especially since large parts of their older discography are now out of print and very hard to obtain.

However, on this long-awaited compilation entitled "Odyssey Europa", Angelo Bergamini and Elena Alice Fossi are not content with just looking back on their past. Instead, they cleverly build a bridge to their current sound by including new recordings of their classic tunes as well. Thus, cult hits, such as "Eclipse", "Heldenplatz" and "Erinnerung", all mandatory spins at any decent underground club, are included in both their rare original versions and in new interpretations that convey the full power of KIRLIAN CAMERA anno 2009.

Solitary Experiments In the Eye of the Beholder £15.25
Review
The Berlin-based trio SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS have long since understood the fact that good electronic music requires more than simply bringing together some synthesizer presets with some cuddly beats. Thus, on the new album "In the Eye of the Beholder", the band lay just as much emphasis on good song-writing, catchy melodies and multi-faceted arrangements as on club-compatible beats and solid bass. The anthemic electronic tracks keep the delicate balance between catchiness and a thorough dose of power that keeps them from ever drifting into the realms of pop-muzak. Effectively carried by Dennis Schober's warm voice and spiced up with a lot of emotional depth, "In the Eye of the Beholder" is a picture-perfect example of how intelligent electronic music in a field of tension between melody and club appeal should sound.

The first edition of this CD will be released in a cardboard sliderpak, and comes with a bonus disc that features remixes, rarities and unreleased tracks. Club sounds with a lot of soul!

Zeromancer It Sounds Like Love (But It Looks Like Sex) £10.50
Review
"It Sounds Like Love (But It Looks Like Sex)" - ZEROMANCER couldn't have thought of a better title for the next single from their hit album "Sinners International"! Yes, it sounds like love: their feel for enticing hooklines, the slightly melancholy and poppy basslines... but in the end it's just pure sex, pure eroticism and pure energy! Cool, vigorous, straightforward rock songs which drive forward, bringing your blood to the boil, setting your heart pounding and sending your hormones crazy with fat guitar riffs, powerful beats and certifiably catchy melodies.

It's a long time since good rock music was as laden with emotion, as passionate and as erotic as that of ZEROMANCER, who with the utmost ease deliver dark, energetic hits, one after another. In addition to a couple of remixes, the EP finally contains the long-awaited DEPECHE MODE cover "Photographic", which is one of ZEROMANCER's biggest live hits. Also included is the collaboration with PIGFACE, "Mercenary".

With their striking mixture of gothic rock and electronic elements, ZEROMANCER remain sex'n'rock'n'roll in its best form! A radiantly seductive light which powerfully rises from the mush of the musical landscape and once again makes rock music just as it once was. Passionate, loud, rebellious and wild, without sacrificing any of the emotion.

Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble Of Shadows The Goat... and Other Re-Animated Bodies (Like a Corpse Standing in Desperation 4) £12.00
Review
New communiques from the 'Sanatorium Altrosa', in which our beloved Goddess Anna-Varney Cantodea has been incarcerated for several years.

The guardians of the sanatorium have released from the files further material about their most enigmatic, fascinating and beautiful inmate for public assessment. These video recordings demonstrate in an impressive, disturbing and absolutely magical way what is meant by 'musical therapy for the spiritually dysfunctional': 'danced poetry'.

These moving visual documents show for the first time in public how the deep meaning of the 'holy trinity' of music, lyrics and artwork can - even if only rudimentarily - be made tangible. We can never completely understand, never really comprehend, what the unparalleled Anna-Varney Cantodea, in her quite glorious complexity, releases. The collected videos on this DVD offer just a further small key to open another small door in the fascinating, beautiful and morbid world of her splendour. A fleeting glance, like a breath of mist, from the early days, long-gone times, up to the most recent hours in the Sanatorium Altrosa, where Anna-Varney, reposing (and one would also like to think: happy) dances for herself, rapt.

Be thankful, humans, that our beloved Goddess has consented to release these emotional and moving images. Conjecture the uniqueness of the art which SOPOR AETERNUS & THE ENSEMBLE OF SHADOWS create for all of the wounded souls outside the gates of the sanatorium and become a part - a small part - of this world. 'The Goat... and Other Re-Animated Bodies (Like a Corpse Standing in Desperation 4)' is like a consecrated wafer which we are allowed to receive, while kneeling, from our Goddess, and which for a fleeting moment opens our eyes without sacrificing any of the emotion.

Santa Hates You Rocket Heart £6.75
Review
The creative strength of Peter Spilles is inexhaustible. With the brilliant PROJECT PITCHFORK album "Dream, Tiresias!" still ringing in our ears, he follows it up with the EP "Rocket Heart" from his unconventional side project SANTA HATES YOU.

Stomping beats, driving sequencers and apocalyptic sounds are skilfully mixed with dark, aggressive vocals. Peter Spilles and his Italian partner in crime, Jinxy, give us (in an unexpected and seductive way) a musical kick up the arse which lends the whole an unnaturally sexy character. SANTA HATES YOU are loud, aggressive, dark, rebellious, threatening, danceable, moving, passionate and intelligent. An alluring yet wild playground of electronic music, upon which the protagonists let off steam with lascivious poses and innocent expressions in order to clobber the listener around the ears with the concentrated strength of their beats and sounds, which nearly take your breath away.

The EP is packaged in an elegant digipak and is strictly limited to 2,000 copies. In addition to a cover version of the AND ONE hit "Deutschmaschine", it also contains remixes by STRAFTANZ, SOMAN and REAPER plus a further bonus track. A must-have for every fan PROJECT PITCHFORK and indispensable for all fans of hard as nails electronic music!

Imminent Cask Strength £13.25
Review
IMMINENT STARVATION, Olivier Moreau, has been a leading light in the intersection of powerful industrial music and advanced electronics. Incessant technoid rhythms, twisted electronic noise and cold, sinister atmospheric textures are the key ingredients in his musical spectrum.

After finishing "Nord/North" in 1999, he destroyed his mixing desk, gave away the pieces as part of the limited "Nord" release and shortened his moniker to IMMINENT. After the name change he produced remixes for SONAR, ISZOLOSCOPE, ORPHX and others, appeared on compilations, performed live and collaborated with SYNAPSCAPE as THE INCREDIBLE THREE. Furthermore he constantly worked on this new full length album - which has now been completed. Like any good whisky that has to mature for at least ten years in a cask, it took the same time for this release to maturate - and it was worth awaiting the ripening. Indeed the music is comparable to a cask strength whisky's taste: raw, aggressive, powerful, without any concession or any additive to dilute its true nature, but it also includes a lot of complexity waiting to be discovered by a true connoisseur. Straight beats interwoven with sophisticated breaks, brilliantly placed samples, intertwining powerful atmospheric synth textures and forceful distorted sequences (without inhibition) form into the sophisticated style of industrial music that IMMINENT is known and loved for. 64 minutes of music - taste it and full satisfaction is guaranteed!

Obscenity Trial Soulstrip £12.50
Review
OBSCENITY TRIAL mastermind Oliver Wand is back with his third studio album "Soulstrip". It features a total of ten tracks including the singles "Über's Wasser Gehen" and "Glück Auf". Notably, the two singles are the only two songs on the album featuring German lyrics, and both have been very successful on the German radio stations and in the charts. "Soulstrip" is a very good and mature album, well-produced with great electronic pop tunes.

Extize FallOut Nation £13.75
Review
The recently-released pill in the form of the EP "Hellektrostar" still hasn't been properly digested, thus the cyber-trance-industrial stars from EXT!ZE now administer the full dose. There will be no mercy!

Now that "Poser" and "Hellektrostar" have established themselves on the French and German dancefloors as absolute club stormers, the hypnotic mixture of driving beats, razor-sharp techno, threatening industrial and hypnotic trance is about to erupt from the home stereos. The strobe lights flash like crazy through the neon light-soaked night of the modern city and the heroes of cyberspace, in their amazing, decadent outfits, perform a crazy dance, in equal parts threatening and intoxicating, which leads into the depths of the human psyche.

EXT!ZE have increased the dose: the superstars let rip with a swirling mixture of sounds, beats, samples, sequences and vocals which are crazier and more varied than before... and this time over the complete length of a full album. This time there is no escape!

These 15 tracks (including remixes by FABRIK-C and THE LADDER) are the ultimate soundtrack to the dance following the world's collapse! The door has been open a long time! Take the pill and let yourselves fall into this madness, out of which there is no escape... No doctor or pharmacist can help with any risks or side effects: the only things which will help are the repeat button and another sweat-inducing dance in the crazy world of an infernal underground! Don't follow the white rabbit: follow EXT!ZE!

Urceus Exit Compensation for the Sound of Silence £14.75
Review
Of all the sophomore releases we have heard through the years, nothing comes close to what URCEUS EXIT has conjured on "Compensation for the Sound of Silence". As a pop album, the release is unforgettable. For synthpop, it is miles ahead of what is on the market today. Lyrically and musically, frontman Richard Duggan has over-reached and extended the possibilities of electronic pop beyond anyone's wildest expectations. "Compensation for the Sound of Silence" is an epic album that will turn heads with tracks like "Drifting" and "The Worst That We've Become". Downstairs Left Nothing But Memories £9.75
Review
DOWNSTAIRS LEFT's music is like a beautifully sad shadow that wraps the listerner in a soft melancholy. The songs are full of fateful emotions that are familiar to everyone and from which nobody can hide or walk away. With the very first notes of the EP you find yourself in a world of full of passion and dreams, but a world that is also full of pain and sorrow. But despite all the sadness, the melodies leave you with a feeling of hope - hope that things may change and that it is getting better and that maybe all will be fine in the end. You will go on and on and on and you will never stop.

Future Trail Breaking New Ground £14.75
Review
FUTURE TRAIL are sure to make a breakthrough with their smashing new album. Made up of members of DAVANTAGE and the Rupal Records Team, FUTURE TRAIL are sending out a strong signal into the hearts of the electro community! If you remember the female voice from WYNARDTAGE's "The Grey Line", be prepared to be offered once again the stunning vocals of Mel, combined with those of the legendary Dirk Ivens (KLINIK, DIVE, SONAR) in the hypnotic duet of "Landslide", truly one of the highlights on this release. Another high point is the soft pushing ballad "Players", where you can take a relaxing break from the sonic waste of hellectro. From here on in titles like the magical "One Time Focussed" or the very romantic "Patience" allow the special depth of FUTURE TRAIL's compositions to shine through. In contrast, the very ambitious "Monochrome Affair", offers a tension between aural caresses and subtle melancholie, whilst "Panic" features vocals from Dirk Steyer of ACCESSORY. In short, the new album features soft and atmospheric electro songs on the one hand balanced out by more danceabele EBM on the other.

Agonoize Hexakosioihexekontahexa £16.75
Review
Don't worry, you needn't be a classical philologist to be swept away by "Hexakosioihexekontahexa", the newest output from the Berlin Bad Boys. With their new double album, the trio is elevating their self-minted sub genre of 'Aggro-Electro' into altogether new dimensions. On the 22 new tracks that are distributed evenly onto two full-length CDs, Agonoize are conjuring up the most effective balancing act to date between the hardest and most melodic works they have produced, thus far: an onslaught of heavily distorted beats, massive shuffle-steamrollers, unexpected melodic twists and harsh dark industrial smashes.

Musically and thematically, "Hexakosioihexekontahexa" is the most versatile trip into the dark sides of human existence that the band has ever attempted, featuring the trademark mix of systematic provocation, tongue-in-cheek horror trips, well-aimed punches into the heart of the establishment, plus a few hot potatoes that the lads manage to tackle with just the right amount of tact. "But does it shake the walls as it used to?" some might ask. You bet it does!

"Hexakosioihexekontahexa" is two CDs jam-packed with AGONOIZE's unique aggro club hit sounds - but more versatile, harder, bigger and bigger, this time around! It is, thus, hardly any wonder that AGONOIZE are considered the hottest thing on the electro scene these days: sold-out concerts and overcrowded halls at their festival gigs should speak for themselves.

The double album contains the club-approved floor fillers "Bis das Blut Gefriert", "Seelenbrecher" and "Por*omagcenterfold" plus 19 more onslaughts of electronic mayhem.

Psyclon Nine We the Fallen £13.00
Review
The sky's turning black again: after three years of silence, California's PSYCLON NINE return in 2009 with "We the Fallen", their darkest, most aggressive album to date.

Over the course of their previous albums, PSYCLON NINE have continued to evolve into their own sound, implementing elements of industrial, black metal, metal and post-punk influences.

The summer of 2000 saw a match made in heaven when ex-roommates Marshall Carnage and Josef Heresy decided to form PSYCLON NINE. They started out as a guitar-driven industrial band, heavily influenced by the likes of KMFDM and MINISTRY, but the members soon altered their style towards a more aggressive sound. Shortly thereafter, the band came together as a whole when Eric Gottesman, the frontman for SEE COLIN SLASH joined Carnage and Heresy.

In 2003, PSYCLON NINE released their first album "Divine Infekt". This debut gained them popularity very quickly with its extremely fast paced music and lyrics. In 2005, they released their first U.S. album after signing to Metropolis Records. The album, "INRI", featured thirteen tracks of dark, aggressive music with a focus on religious themes. Not an album for the faint of heart, it was an all-out assault on the senses proving that PSYCLON NINE really know how to hit their mark. With a devout hardcore fan base under their control, the band unleashed their next wave of sonic battery in 2006. "Crwn Thy Frnicatr" featured eleven skin-crawling tracks of dark omniscient rhythm, overlaid with haunting melodies and screaming whisper-like vocals.

Now the time has come for "We the Fallen", an intense synth/black metal attack in which PSYCLON NINE have enlisted the help of Jason Miller (GODHEAD) for final tracking and mixing. Dark electro doesn't get much more evil than this.

Claire Voyant Lustre £13.00
Review
Time is the sensation of mortality; the steady transition from past to future, certainty to uncertainty. And while the certainty of mortality has preoccupied humanity since the earliest times, there also exists an ancient desire to know the future. Science considers only objective reality, where events are taken as evidence of physical laws whose truth may be ascertained by experiment. Clairvoyants, on the other hand, have always tried to go one step further, but have never claimed control over the laws of gravity or methods of communication.

CLAIRE VOYANT are a four-piece band from Sacramento. The name, a play on the French 'clairvoyant' (one who possesses 'second sight'), was also the name of a sensational 1940s comic strip series. The fictional Claire Voyant was the alias of an antiheroine called "The Black Widow", whilst CLAIRE VOYANT the band conceals singer Victoria Lloyd.

With their new album "Lustre", CLAIRE VOYANT lead the listener on a trip through a dreamlike musical world. Victoria's dulcet voice, heavily treated with echo and chorus, winds its way through forests of keyboard and guitar. Despite filling the acoustic space to its limit, the effect is warm and clear but never excessive. "Lustre" heralds the long overdue return of that rarest of CDs which renders your player's 'skip' function unnecessary: the entire album is the hit! Simply press play, sit back, and let your world be transformed.

The Birthday Massacre Show and Tell £17.75
Review
A captivating hybrid of 80s electronica and aggressive guitars, curiously fused with a cinematic quality of melodic progressions, THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE's soundscapes have attracted a diverse and devout fan base. The Toronto based outfit have come a long way since their inception in 2000, and continue to garner new fans worldwide, not only in the industrial and electronic scenes, but the rock community as well. In July of 2002, they self-released the limited edition CD "Nothing and Nowhere" and added a new drummer, Rhim. Two years later, they followed up with the EP, "Violet". 2005 became a big year for THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE. Not only did they add O-En on keyboards, but were signed in Europe by Repo Records and in North America by Metropolis Records. Both labels re-released Violet as a full length album with four extra tracks. A video for the song "Blue" was also launched later that year, produced by NYC artist and director Daniel Ouellette. Since the release of "Walking With Strangers", in September of 2007, THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE have been touring constantly in Europe and North America.

As part of this tour, shortly after the release of the album, they played a gig at Knust (a club in Hamburg Germany that holds about 500 people). It just so happened that permission was given to Crazy Clip, (a local video producer) to record and film the performance. The project then lay dormant for the next 18 months while the band continued touring and then began work on the follow up to "Walking With Strangers" (which is scheduled for release this coming autumn). However, in December of last year Rainbow and Falcore started going through the video and audio recordings from that Hamburg show and decided that although it wasn't planned for a "live" record, there was an intimate, small-club feel to the whole project that they liked. And so, they set about editing and mixing the tracks to form the CD, "Show and Tell".

And now the DVD of the concert has arrived! Besides the main feature, there is also live footage from the two festival appearances at M'era Luna Festival in 2005 and 2006. Furthermore the DVD contains an interview with the band and a picture gallery. This collection will add another dimension to their already sizeable reputation. In addition to being essential listening for current fans of the band, this DVD is also a great introduction to the music of THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE for those who have yet to check them out.

Skrol New Laws New Orders [Argentinian Import] £16.50
Review
This album marks the welcome return of one of the most amazing industrial acts: the conception of the Czech ensemble SKROL arose from the visions of its spiritual father Vladimír Hirsch (composer, keyboards, drums, programming, vocal) in the autumn of 1995, when he was joined by Martina Sanollová-Sweeney (vocals) and Tom Saivon (lyrics, noise structures). The project employs original principles of composition, with added influences from classical music. Their inspiration derives mainly from Slavic melodies and harmonies.

"New Laws New Orders" was originally an instrumental suite by Vladimir Hirsch, created in 2000. Later some of the tracks were completely re-worked by the ensemble and the result is a majestic and uncompromisingly beautiful album of great melodies, contemporary neo-classical orchestrations accompanied by industrial ambient- and noisescapes, generated by the latest technology. The album is a sort of 'swan song' for the band, who will be definitely discontinuing their activities after this release.

Individual Totem Mumia Vera (+ Collectotem: Rarities and Remixes) £18.50
Review
A long time ago, INDIVIDUAL TOTEM emerged as one of Germany's most innovative industrial bands. But even their most hardcore fans are not aware of the first real Totem release: a cassette-only album called "Mumia Vera", originally released in 1992. Now hopelessly out of print and all but forgotten, "Mumia Vera" represents the early stages of INDIVIDUAL TOTEM, a unique sound that was years ahead of its time, and the seeds of which would become one of the top industrial bands of the 90s. This autumn, Artoffact Records will re-issue a new version of "Mumia Vera", completely remastered and re-tweaked from the original cassettes, and incorporating the original artwork.

What is more, "Mumia Vera" will be released as a limited edition double CD, including the entire "Flow EP" (which features the Fortress A Remix, one of the best tracks ever recorded, period). The release will also feature previously unreleased live material, and the limited edition will come with two new INDIVIDUAL TOTEM pins.

Various Artists The New Romantics £15.75
Review
Forget the horrible cheesy, naff, saxaphone-toting 80s Pop Pickers - this collection is the REAL era-defining deal. "The New Romantics" delves into a time when Bands really were Bands, they wrote their own songs, played their own instruments and clearly did their shopping in between the local Oxfam and a nursery dressing-up box, with regular raids into mum's make-up kit.

The track selection is nothing short of brilliant - these early synth-led songs came from unemployed bedroom bands and ended up ruling the world, at Live Aid, on 'Top of the Pops' on a Thursday Night - they were popular from Birmingham and Basildon to Tokyo and Toronto... Progressive, dark, and often unsettling but with true commercial appeal, tracks such as VISAGE's "Fade to Grey", BLANCMANGE's "Living on the Ceiling", YAZOO's "Don't Go" and GARY NUMAN's "Cars" landed like aliens into the nation's collective living room, leaving fathers flummoxed ("that bloke's wearing make-up!") and teens thrilled.

Arecibo Trans Plutonian Transmission [Re-Issue] £17.50
Review
ARECIBO is the deep ambient project by LUSTMORD. It was first released by German label Atmosphere/Dark Vinyl in 1994 and has been out of print for nearly a decade. This new 2009 edition has been remastered from the ground up, and is presented in a completely redesigned digipak.

When interviewed by AmbiEntrance, B. Lustmord described ARECIBO as "a side project of sorts, where I indulge myself in music that doesn't fit into the Lustmord concept." Using audio recordings of quasars, pulsars and other deep space sources, LUSTMORD weaves a deeply haunting and atmospheric album.

Isolrubin BK Crash Injury Trauma [Re-Issue] £17.50
Review
Industrial noise sideproject of LUSTMORD, this album was originally released in 1993. It has been out of print for nearly a decade, and this new 2009 edition has been remastered from the ground up, and is presented in completely redesigned packaging.

Following "Heresy" and "Monstrous Soul" and preceding "The Place Where the Black Stars Hang", "Crash Injury Trauma" was recorded during what is now considered a pivotal period in the British artist's career. The album is a shocking and disturbing onr, unflinching and relentless in its fascination with violent car accidents. Tires skid and horns blare, followed by the sickening sounds of crashing metal and shattering glass, screams, sirens and heart-pounding bass. It's a cruel, sadistic and horrifying tour de force in the ambient and power electronics genre.

Brillig Jack Davey [Australian Import] £7.75
Review
Entitled "Jack Davey", this five-track recording was completed at the end of September 2008 in Hillside Studios with famed producer Matt Hills (WOLF & CUB), and was the first release since Brillig's reinvention as a four-piece acoustic act. The EP was a long time coming for the band, whose previous work ("Mirror on the Wall" LP, 2007) represented an entirely different style.

"Jack Davey" showcases their strongest songwriting to date, with an unmistakable theme of loss and longing. But proving that "all that's dark is not dreary", the EP is full of enchanting melodies and sweet harmonies which manage to create a strangely uplifting and dreamily romantic atmosphere. The graceful instrumentation produces alternating sparse and lush soundscapes, making full use of the band's versatile sound and array of instruments: male/female vocals, viola, banjo, guitar, ukulele, bass, piano accordion, drums, harmonica and traditional Americana folk instrument - the Autoharp.

Hidden Place Punto Luce [Argentinian Import] £16.50
Review
After their great (and now deleted) debut release "Fantasia Meccanica", the italian act HIDDEN PLACE return with an all new and long-expected album! "Punto Luce" continues along the same pathtraced by its predecessor. Deep sonorities are alternated with moments of emotionalism and refinement, underlined above all by more atmospheric sounds, that constantly influence this album. Harmonious female vocals from the beautiful singer Sara Lux are opposed with the cold tones of the vocoder. An elegant mix of electro and new wave give a precise evocation of art, of the painting of a picture, of the beauty of colours and light.

The album also features vocal and mixing contributions from Gaby Nekro of NEKRODAMUS.

Asp Wer Sonst? / Im Märchenland £10.25
Review
For ten years now, ASP have maintained their hold in the ever-changing music business and have provided lovers of ambitious, superior-quality German-language music with one milestone after another. For a long time, their 'gothic novel rock' has been highly regarded across all scene boundaries and many of their releases demonstrate why fans today still want to acquire music in a physical format: because ASP present them with total works of art, both musically and visually.

And so it is now, with the new ASP release. "Wer Sonst? / Im Märchenland" is a 'double A side' single with two incredibly strong title tracks and a multitude of fantastic bonus material. In terms of its presentation, even the standard version surpasses the limited editions of so many other bands: eight audio tracks, a live video and a twelve-page booklet packaged in a six-panelled digipak which features two alternative covers - one on the front and one on the back of the digipak, representing each of the main single tracks.

Asp Wer Sonst? / Im Märchenland £27.50
Review
For this limited deluxe edition, they have once again come up with something quite special: instead of recording a video, the band from Frankfurt deliver a genuine comic book which is based on an original script from ASP mastermind AF Spreng and which is brilliantly realised by famous illustrator Ingo Römling. A fantastic adventure to kick off a new comic series from AF Spreng, which is teeming with literary allusions and good-natured homages. An intelligent action adventure!

The 42-page comic book is sized 17x25cm, and is hard-bound, printed in high-grade art print on high-quality art paper, and has special matt lamination of all printed parts.

SOUNDCLIPS ADDED THIS WEEK
Rabia Sorda Noise Diary £13.50
Review
"Noise Diary" is the second outing from HOCICO front-shouter Erk Aicrag's solo project, and here the energetic Mexican artist has created a new RABIA SORDA album that outshines his debut in all aspects. His harsh Electroclash/Cyberpunk hybrid sounds more versatile and melodic but also more aggressive and powerful. The self-confessed melody-junkie Erk has spiffed up his sound with more catchy elements than ever before. Vocally, Erk is also a jack of all trades, this time around taking the listener under fire with his most aggressive distorted screams outside of Hocico, angry punk shouts and raw but catchy melodies. With massive production from mixing desk wizard John Fryer, hard beats and driving bass lines, the album will take the club crowds by storm, but then that was to be expected from a man like Mr. Aicrag.

With "Noise Diary", RABIA SORDA prove once again with an energetic fusion of melody and aggression that they are the most interesting and unique hard electro act out there.

Suicide Commando Die Motherf*cker Die £6.25
Review
SUICIDE COMMANDO. A name like no other, a name synonymous with hard electronic dance music. The new single "Die Motherf*cker Die" (whose provocative title will surely have no one expecting light pop muzak) showcases this cult Belgian act from their most uncompromising side. Mastermind Johan van Roy stirs up a catchy yet relentlessly aggressive cocktail of thudding beats, brutal shouts and melodic trance- and techno-licks to create an altogether unique alternative dancefloor sound. Gone are the days when electronic music was predominantly associated with love, peace and robots. With their pounding, electronic tracks, SUICIDE COMMANDO sound more like a jigsaw killer on a joyride in a techno club than the post-hippie dreams of the Love Parade. Life's hard and merciless and SUICIDE COMMANDO provide the ideal soundtrack for a messed up world. This formidable appetizer for the soon-to-be-released new album is topped off with two dancefloor-optimized remixes from NOISUF-X and C-LEKKTOR plus one previously unreleased B side.

The first (limited) edition of this single is released in a classy digipak.

Theatre Of Tragedy Forever Is the World £15.50
Review
The storm that they literally set free with their latest studio album from 2006 ("Storm") has paved the way for new opportunities for THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, Norway's best-loved Gothic band. The highly anticipated "Forever Is the World" continues right where the previous album left off but without the use of electronic elements and with a much more natural sound, which represents a step back to their roots yet with a very up-to-date approach. The album features the amazing vocals of Nell Sigland and was recorded at Room 13 studios in Oslo with producer Alexander Møklebust (who has previously worked with ZEROMANCER, SEIGMEN, MONOMEN, DELAWARE and others). Be prepared for the newest incarnation of THEATRE OF TRAGEDY!

Informatik Arena £13.00
Review
Da5id Din and Tyler Newman are musicians from two successful but very different musical projects: DIN_FIV and BATTERY CAGE. While Tyler prefers the gut feeling approach, Da5id takes the rational road instead. Although both use vocals and instrumentation in equal parts, this is their only common ground. When making music Tyler purely follows his emotional instincts, creates atmosphere and mood to embody the feeling rather than the concept. On the other side, Da5id provides the structure because for him the rationale is above all else. "I like exploring different directions even if the target is always the same: to discover yourself."

The result is a unique sound that is much more than just the simple sum of these different musical philosophies, combining modern recording technology with elements of traditional pop music. Over the last six albums, their music has developed in parallel to the band's personality, moving over the course of a decade from a harsh EBM sound to a more mature and introverted style with deep vocoder vocals, dark melodies, empathetic lyrics, melodic synthesizer string sounds and brilliant production quality.

INFORMATIK now present their latest album "Arena" consisting of 12 outstanding emotional compositions that make a statement in one mellow and excellently produced package.

Kilowatts & Vanek Focus and Flow £11.50
Review
One of the biggest hopes for a 'NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR 2009' award!!!

KILOWATTS & VANEK blow to pieces any prejudice about the futility of merging electronic and acoustic music. The American/Belgian duo took four years to save their album "Focus and Flow" to hard disc, and then put it online for sale on their website. An enthusiastic fan asked them to perform two shows in Germany, and that was the first time Watts and Vanek met in person, despite having collaborated for several years. A few months later, Dependent owner Stefan Herwig stumbled across a link in the 'Hybridized' Music forum recommending an amazing album... The link leads to "Focus And Flow". The Dependent label had been closed down a good year before, but Herwig could not withdraw from the fascinating and unique sound of the record, and started to look for a record label for KILOWATTS & VANEK. Interest came from Motor Digital, the net label department of Motor founder Tim Renner. However, nobody seemed interested in releasing "Focus and flow" physically. This lead Stefan to reactivate his record label, and gave KILOWATTS & VANEK a unique advantage: they are home on two separate record labels. So far a truly unique structure.

But the theme of unique synergy does not only spread throughout the bands work structure, it is equally apparent in their music: you won't find better vocals or more bittersweet melancholy in any other electronic music. You have not yet heard these kind grooves and wicked effects in guitar ballads. KILOWATTS & VANEK are simply beyond categories like 'Laptop-Folk' or 'Glitch Pop' as they unify harmonic flow, truly visionary focus and simply the best of the worlds of electronic and organic music.

Phosgore Domination £11.25
Review
PHOSGORE is a one-man project founded in 2008 by Flo Dietz. After ten years working as an Electro/EBM/Industrial DJ he decided to use his knowledge of the club scene to create music himself. Shortly after the first self-published promotional CD called "Club Domination" was released, PHOSGORE was signed to the German label ProNoize. At that time, tracks like "Hardcore Shit" and "Club Domination" were already being spinned in quite a few clubs. Some sampler contributions followed, such as "Fleisch", released on "Extreme Stoerfrequenz 2" and "Pain Tutorial" as a part of the fourth installment of the famous sampler series "Endzeit Bunkertracks", the latter being a part of many harsh DJ sets all around the globe.

PHOSGORE has also achieved quite a lot with his live shows, which include playing at the Dark Dance Treffen (Germany), the Schatten-Tanz Festival (Germany) and at the world's longest running dark scene club: the Slimelight, London. Where PHOSGORE plays live, only ashes (and the occasional screaming fangirl) remain. When on stage, Flo is joined by the lovely Sonja, who assists him in dominating clubs all over the world. PHOSGORE lacks dark romantic song texts and multi-coloured plastic hair-sporting singers, and there are no bats flying out of anyone's ass. Industrial, electro and hardstyle elements form some of the most unrelenting tracks of today's dark music scene. This is uncompromising music for an uncompromising audience.

Now, the time of waiting is over, as the debut album "Domination" has arrived - twelve original PHOSGORE tracks, each one thumping like a jackhammer on steroids, plus five remixes by some of the biggest names of the business: XOTOX, SAM, FabrikC, STAHLFREQUENZ and, as a premiere, [X]-RX.

Omega Lithium Dreams in Formaline £13.25
Review
If Lithium comes into contact with the skin, it can cause severe chemical burns. In combination with Omega, the last letter of the Greek alphabet, Lithium forms an acoustic drug with a highly addictive quality: OMEGA LITHIUM! Their penchant for chemical substances is also reflected by the title of their debut album, "Dreams in Formaline". Formalin is an aqueous solution, a mix of formaldehyde and methanol which is used to preserve bodies, as well as anatomical and biological preparations.

The band's figurehead is 19 year old vocalist Mya, whose looks are on a par with her powerful and surprisingly deep voice and is definitely a force to be reckoned with by the international competition. Along with Mya, guitarist/main songwriter Malice, bassist/lyricist Zoltan and drummer Torsten have created a powerfully sinister sound which occasionally brings to mind the atmospheric goth metal of acts such as LACUNA COIL and EVANESCENCE, yet is always independent and marked by a variety of influences. OMEGA LITHIUM combine cutting metal riffs, rock elements, electro beats, machine-like coolness and haunting atmospheres at the interface of industrial, goth and metal. Music fans will be hooked on "Stigmata", which has true hit potential and is supported by a darkly morbid video clip with Tim Burton references; "My Haunted Self" with its male-female antiphon and an extremely creepy aura; the title track, "Dreams In Formaline" with strong industrial influences; and the bombastic "Snow Red". Whichever way you look at it: OMEGA LITHIUM must be the first drug which can be recommended without reservations - with no known risks or side-effects!

Xentrifuge Converting Infinity £12.25
Review
The awakening of XENTRIFUGE began in 2005, eventually bringing the well-received debut album "Light Extinguished" on NoiTekk Records in 2007. Now, two years in the making, XENTRIFUGE unleash the follow up to "Light Extinguished", with their latest arsenal of audio weaponry known as "Converting Infinity". High energy, raw emotion, and pure rage result in an innovative form of Dark Power EBM. Combining harsh synths, crushing noise and tormenting vocals with brutal beats all set in a cold, dark atmosphere, "Converting Infinity" delivers to the dance floor and the moshpit alike. From the opening track "Dormant" the listener is given the sense that mankind is lost and fallen. Xotox and Detune-X We Are Deaf £14.25
Review
Andreas Davids (XOTOX) and Stefano Rossello (DETUNE-X) are two of the most important figures in the new electro-industrial global panorama; composers, producers, and DJs who for years have been hitting us over the head with their harsh audio assaults.

With "We Are Deaf" they have united forces to construct an album of high quality and strength without compromise. Pure rhythmic noise and full-steam-ahead distorted bass drums battle together, in order to attack us with a devastatingly powerful sonic impact, forcing our bodies into movement and testing the limits of our eardrums. Included on the album is an unexpected 10 minute jam session divided into two parts, rhythmic and then pure noise. A release aimed at alternative dance floors across the globe and rhythmic noise junkies alike... not to be missed!

MNS TOP 10 SELLERS
Rammstein Liebe Ist für Alle Da [Deluxe Edition] £17.50
Review
RAMMSTEIN are back. Four years after the release of "Rosenrot", their last studio outing, Germany's most successful rock act have announced the release of a brand new studio album, "Liebe Ist für Alle Da".

Since starting out 15 years ago, RAMMSTEIN have built a reputation as a controversial, no-compromise, and hugely entertaining band, with a fiercely loyal and genuinely international following. Today, they stand head and shoulders above the competition as the greatest (musical) showmen on earth, with an incendiary stage performance that generally results in tickets for their concerts selling out in minutes. They return to UK stages in February 2010, in support of their sixth studio album - an eleven track offering that is already being talked about as a classic to rival their hugely acclaimed 2001 "Mutter" release.

Produced by Jacob Hellner and mixed by Stefan Glaumann, the regular RAMMSTEIN team, this latest album is perhaps the Berlin band's most varied release to date, including genuine surprises, a smattering of English and French, plus some of the heaviest songs in their repertoire. As always with RAMMSTEIN, controversy is never too far from the scene, with lead single/video "Pussy" already causing something of a stir, and "Wiener Blut" drawing 'inspiration' from the recent much-publicised case of Austrian Josef Fritzl. Other key tracks include "Rammlied" (a celebration of the band itself), "Waidmanns Heil" (which sees traditional hunting horns used for the first time) and "Roter Sand", an atmospheric cinematic composition unlike anything the band have recorded before.

This deluxe edition of the album comes complete with a bonus disc featuring five previously unreleased tracks. Like the standard edition, it is housed in a digipak with gold-blocked lettering. It is also packaged in an outer slipcase and comes with a bespoke sticker.

Mesh A Perfect Solution £12.75
Review
After a three year absence, Bristol's hottest underground export in heart-wrenching electronic pop is back.

MESH, the duo of Mark Hockings and Rich Silverthorn, return with "A Perfect Solution", possibly the most mature, mutable and yet toughest album of their career. While no one doubts Mark Hocking's status as an exceptional vocalist, a complete listen to this album also serves to highlight the band's songwriting and arrangement skills. Once pegged as a purely retro synth act, MESH have mutated into a true live band, and the resulting versatility in the arrangements transforms what might have merely been eleven good songs into absolutely outstanding ones.

Thematically, "A Perfect Solution" is a bit darker than previous releases. The tone of the album is typified by "If We Stay Here", a tale of broken relationships between people who once loved each other, but who now just exist in the same space. The massive housing facade pictured on the cover further symbolizes the painful dramas that take place behind its windows. The wires running throughout the artwork are both safety lines and shackles - anything but "A Perfect Solution".

Were the album musically as dismal and hopeless as it is lyrically, "A Perfect Solution" might be too much to handle, but luckily MESH know how to strike the delicate balance between bitter and sweet.

Kraftwerk The Catalogue £67.00
Review
KRAFTWERK: Electro Pioneers, living legends and globally revered masters of electronic sound, celebrate the 35th anniversary of their landmark 1974 hit "Autobahn" by releasing digitally remastered versions of eight astounding albums in a special box set. Rolling back musical barriers with every forward-thinking phase of their career, Dusseldorf's Zen Masters of electronic minimalism laid the foundations for four decades of computerised pop and dance music. By chain reaction and mutation, they have influenced generations of artists in all genres, mapping musical futures yet to come. From BOWIE to DAFT PUNK, APHEX TWIN to PORTISHEAD, DR DRE to LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, and almost everyone in between, the mark of KRAFTWERK is endless, endless.

In 2009, KRAFTWERK have upgraded their Kling Klang masters with the latest studio technology and these eight magnificent recordings still sound like nothing else in the history of music. KRAFTWERK are unique, pristine, profound and beautiful. Decades may pass, but their streamlined synthetic symphonies stand outside time, as fresh as tomorrow, transcendent and sublime.

The eight discs come in a deluxe vinyl-sized box, with each of the discs packaged in "mini-vinyl" card wallets.

Assemblage 23 Compass [Deluxe] £18.00
Review
ASSEMBLAGE 23 and Tom Shear - there's no need to introduce the man behind this figurehead of electronic music. For almost ten years, he has provided the scene with a string of hits.

Still, his new album demands a closer look. It is not just his sixth studio album - "Compass" is a lot more than that. This album is the uncompromising presentation of Tom Shear's biggest strength, the composition of dreamingly beautiful ballads, relentlessly catchy tunes and club hits that will draw all the party animals to the dance floor. He is a real master of his trade, and on this newest work, he has achieved the feat of sticking to the sound all ASSEMBLAGE 23 fans love and hope for, while still creating a powerful and exiting new vibe. Listening to this album and discovering "Compass" in its whole glory is pure fun; it fascinates and electrifies.

All this combined makes sure that "Compass" is not just a treat for Shear's big fan base but will also excite all those who have not yet discovered the fascination of ASSEMBLAGE 23. The single "Spark" has already proven a strong and promising harbinger - but who would have thought that Tom Shear might surpass this benchmark in such a glorious way. For all those who love straightforward but also sophisticated and substantial electronic music, this album is not to be missed!

The very limited deluxe edition of "Compass" comes complete with bonus CD and in special, and very beautiful packaging.

Rotersand Random Is Resistance £13.25
Review
Ever since their debut "Truth is Fanatic" exploded like a bomb, it has been impossible to imagine the clubs and the alternative charts without ROTERSAND. And with their new album, "Random Is Resistance", they have once again succeeded in performing the balancing act between club-friendly music and a total work of art, mixing chilled-out electrobeats with shimmering futurepop sequences, trance-like sounds with atmospheric samples, clear-cut melodies with warm and charismatic vocals, subdued new wave with classical strings. Nor do they shy away from acoustic guitars and pop hooklines, creating a unique universe that pulls together all strands of electronic music and which remains masterfully emotional and above all, intelligent. "Random Is Resistance' is the most perfect work to date from ROTERSAND's unique creative musical forge. Without doubt, in the world of electronic music, ROTERSAND once more claim their special position, not least because the intelligence of their lyrical message is mirrored in the skillfully employed variation of their music. Individualists who dance their way out of the grid, achieving musical resistance to the well-worn pigeonholes.

"Coincidence" is an unpredictable factor. To remain unpredictable was not only ever just an integral part of ROTERSAND's music. To remain unpredictable in a world in which we are (voluntarily) monitored and in which we relinquish all of our data and personal preferences in order to become the perfect controllable consumers - that is resistance! "Random Is Resistance" is guaranteed, like its predecessors, to implant itself into various charts, onto the dancefloors of the clubs and into the brains of the listeners. A collectors' piece which no fan of ROTERSAND should be without!

The first edition of "Random Is Resistance" is released as a lavish eight-panel digipak with an extensive booklet full of sombre illustrations which perfectly set the visual scene for the story and which can be described without over-exaggeration as a work of art.
