Welcome to our weekly round-up of forthcoming releases, and what a week it is!
We have three big releases from DEPENDENT, starting off with MESH's latest single from "A Perfect Solution". "How Long" impresses with an amazing hookline and an instrumentation that blends catchiness, 'pop-potential' and 'club-suitability' in a memorable mixture.
MIND.IN.A.BOX have decided to release the heavily praised title "8 Bits" as a single. It will be available in a highly limited edition paper sleeve and features three alternate versions of the title track, including a club version, and the additional revised "8.6 Bits Mix".
The "Dependence" discs are one of two DEPENDENT compilation series renowned for their high-quality track record of releases from both established artists and promising newcomers. "Dependence 2010" features unreleased material as well as spectacular remixes from MIND.IN.A.BOX, VELVET ACID CHRIST, PSYCLON NINE, STROMKERN, DISMANTLED, EDGE OF DAWN and more.
NOISUF-X's mastermind Jan L has been active on the electronic borderline between techno and EBM/electro since 1988. The new work is entitled "Excessive Exposure" and comes out on the first of April, though it is no April Fool's joke! The album will excite the masses and crowded dance floors are inevitable. This uncompromising catchy and danceable club material is far ahead of its rivals. The limited edition box set comes with a four-track bonus CD entitled "Excessive Extension", which includes guest vocals by Peter Spilles (PROJECT PITCHFORK) and Johan van Roy (SUICIDE COMMANDO).
In 2004 "Die Unruhe" sold out before its actual release date just on pre-orders. Even six years after their original release these tracks remain guaranteed dancefloor fillers, which proves once more XOTOX's sure sense for the right mix of harshness, danceability and intelligent song structures. "Die Unruhe 2.0" contains all the original tracks from the album, plus two previously unreleased tracks, all re-mastered by X-FUSION Music Production.
"Process of Elimination" is the title and inspiration behind CERVELLO ELETTRONICO's new release. From hard rhythmic experimental beats to pulsating electro EBM bass lines, this latest effort displays a new polished sound for the project while keeping its unique raw, harsh sound. These fourteen tracks include guest vocals from Karloz M of MANUFACTURA, UBERBYTE's Richard Pyne, and Ben Arp from C/A/T. "Bipolar" is the exclusive box release for this new CERVELLO ELETTRONICO album (strictly limited to 300 copies worldwide), which includes the regular album plus an additional disc featuring remixes by P.A.L., GEISTFORM, DETUNE-X, XOTOX and many more.
"Selected" features a selection of classic RECOIL tracks chosen by Alan Wilder himself. RECOIL was born in 1986 as a two-track experimental EP, and four albums have followed since. The limited edition 2CD version of "Selected" will feature a second disc including many new remixes and alternative version.
Mixing elements of industrial, techno, hardcore, IDM and house, ALTER DER RUINE have become known for their viscous blending of genres and intense energy. After three albums, three EPs, numerous remix appearances and over 100 live shows to date, ALTER DER RUINE are ready to show Europe what they can do. "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things" contains their best songs, which have so far only been released in the USA. The limited edition includes a bonus CD with exclusive mixes from AESTHETIC PERFECTION, HAUJOBB, NOISUF-X and ASSEMBLAGE 23.
The Belgian duo NTRSN (pronounced as 'intrusion'), inspired by bands like CABARET VOLTAIRE, FRONT 242 and SPK, deliver old-school electronic sounds on "People Like Gods", of the like that can only be achieved by utilizing 100% analog equipment, and yet they still deliver a sound that is current, modern... almost futuristic.
Rozz Williams was just seventeen years of age when he and Ron Athey formed PREMATURE EJACULATION in the summer of 1981. "Premature Ejaculation - Part 1" consists of seven untitled tracks and some bonus material, dating from 1982 at the latest. "Premature Ejaculation - Part 2" is a more interesting and well put-together recording than its predecessor. It consists of a long sequence of untitled tracks. Again, some bonus material dating from 1982 is included, which are selections by Rozz and Ron from various vinyl recordings. Release date to be confirmed!!
"Rockers" is a two CD collection from the 80s supergroup LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH, fronted by Stiv Bators, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their formation. Digitally remastered and remixed by guitarist Brian James (formerly of THE DAMNED), disc one contains tracks from the band's three albums and disc two was recorded live in London in 1982. Strictly limited to 1000 copies.
TANGERINE DREAM have two vinyl re-releases. Originally released in 1974, "Phaedra" was their first release on Virgin Records. The album peaked in the UK album chart at number 15, remaining in the charts for 15 weeks. "Rubycon", originally released in 1975, was TANGERINE DREAM's highest charting album from their Virgin years, peaking at number 12.
Three years after the last studio album ATARAXIA are back with a marvellous new album. "Llyr" (Lyra) is the name of the instrument of the bards and the Greek lyrical poets. ATARAXIA have created their very own, incomparable genre of music: a cosmogenic dark folk praying for beauty.
"Invasion" is the first all-new full-length release in over three years from CONTAGIOUS ORGASM. Processed field recordings and electro-acoustic sound-art collages, a mixture of delicately constituted industrial and noisy ambient sounds.
"Electronic Manifesto IV" is the last volume of the series! The theme for the bands involved was to compose their own epitaph! This compilation is such a flow of emotions and yet also contains some real dancefloor hits. Artists featured on the compilation are among the finest ones on the dark scene, including LYDIA LUNCH, FLINT GLASS, AB OVO and STENDECK. Strictly limited to 500 copies in a beautiful digipak.
Good news from PRONOIZE to finish with as well, as [X]-RX's "Unmoglich Erregend" and FABRIKC's "Impulsgeber" have both been re-printed.

Review
MESH's latest album "A Perfect Solution" was one of 2009's alternative highlights. Shortly after its release, the Bristol duo's chart entry was followed by a tremendously successful European tour. After the highly positive feedback form the first single "Only Better" in both clubs and on the radio, MESH continue with one of the strongest tracks of the album. "How Long" impresses with an amazing hookline and an instrumentation that blends catchiness, 'pop-potential' and 'club-suitabiltiy' in a memorable mixture.
Thematically, MESH sing about a partnership whose expiry date is long-gone. This bitter theme is packed into the characteristic hypnotic and addictive melancholy that has marked their style since albums like "The Point at Which It Falls Apart". But with this last album they have managed to wrap their trademark sound into a newer, organic and more rocking ensemble without denying their electronic roots. Regarding the sound design, MESH have clearly evolved and skillfully succeed in combining the best of both worlds. As usual, MESH fans can expect to find a track on the B-side which is not to be considered a gap-filler but a fully-fledged highlight. As a treat to their numerous fans, MESH is not merely offering the previously unreleased track "Save Everyone", but also an alternate version of the recent vinyl-only track "Hold and Restrain".

The third compilation disc of unreleased material from Dependent label artists is about to hit the shelves. The "Dependence" discs are one of two Dependent compilation series renowned for their high-quality track record of releases from both established artists and promising newcomers. While the "Septic" series presents a broad spectrum of artists from throughout the scene, the "Dependence" compilations concentrate on the label's own artists, setting new standards of quality in the electro-industrial sector. "Dependence 2010" features unreleased material as well as spectacular remixes from MIND.IN.A.BOX, VELVET ACID CHRIST, PSYCLON NINE, KILOWATTS & VANEK, STROMKERN, DISMANTLED, MINDLESS FAITH, INFORMATIK, EDGE OF DAWN...
While the compilation provides a great introduction to the label's roster for new converts, its low price and unbeatable collection of unreleased material make it a must-have for longtime fans of the individual artists as well. No outtakes or boring remixes here - just the finest of the fine. "Dependence 2010" - 78 minutes of 'Next Level Electronics'.

NOISUF-X's mastermind Jan L has been active on the electronic borderline between techno and EBM/electro since 1988. After several live performances (among others at the Summer Darkness, the Gothic Festival and the Powerstrip Festival with LEÆTHER STRIP) the new work by NOISUF-X now appears. The release is entitled "Excessive Exposure" and comes out on the first of April though it is no April fool's joke to be sure! Often imitated but never equalled... the return of the original!
In 2004 "Die Unruhe" sold out before its actual release date just on account of pre-orders. Since then, hits like "Mechanische Unruhe", "Nasse Wände", and the apocalyptic "Dunkelheit" have achieved cult status. Even six years after their original release these tracks remain guaranteed dancefloor fillers which proves once more XOTOX's sure sense for the right mix of harshness, danceability and intelligent song structures. With the release of "Die Unruhe" XOTOX established his brand of 'industrial for hyperactive people' on dancefloors worldwide. "Die Unruhe 2.0" contains all the original tracks from the album, plus two previously unreleased tracks with "You Can't Hurt Me" and "The Punisher", which stem from the same session - all re-mastered by X-FUSION Music Production.

Review
"Process of Elimination" is the title and inspiration behind CERVELLO ELETTRONICO's new release. Each song on the album demonstrates alienation and chaos in a way which reveals the obvious end of a musical journey. From hard rhythmic experimental beats to pulsating electro EBM bass lines, this latest effort displays a new polished sound for the project while keeping its unique raw, harsh sound. Clever sampling and sound design showcase CERVELLO ELETTRONICO's particular type of intelligent dance music, establishing a different sound in its own genre by pushing boundaries. At the same time "Process of Elimination" pays tribute to old-school techno and the industrial pioneers through careful execution and sometimes a hint of satire.
These fourteen tracks include guest vocals from Karloz M of MANUFACTURA, UBERBYTE's Richard Pyne, and Ben Arp from American industrial dance act C/A/T. It also features remixes exclusive to the European release from French breakbeat artist ZELLER and EBM/industrial act AESTHETIC PERFECTION.

Review
"Selected" features a selection of classic RECOIL tracks chosen by Alan Wilder himself, who says: "The collection is made up of my personal favourites, remastered and edited together into what I consider a cohesive and total listening experience."
RECOIL was born in 1986 as a two-track experimental EP, and four albums have followed since. Over the course of the last ten years Alan has been ably accompanied by Paul Kendall who brings his own idiosyncratic view to the whole procedure. He has also been fortunate enough to cement working relationships with many writers, vocalists and musicians, most of whom appear on this new release.

Review
The Belgian duo NTRSN (pronounced as 'intrusion') deliver old-school electronic sounds of the like that can only be achieved by utilizing 100% analog equipment, and yet they still deliver a sound that is current, modern... almost futuristic. Supported by FM (PANKOW) and Peter Van Bogaert (LIQUID-G), this release offers the hard cutting edge alongside the beautifully melodic.
NTRSN - inspired by bands like CABARET VOLTAIRE, FRONT 242 and SPK - are fanatical synth-enthusiasts, with a passion for analog systems, machines and visual presentation. In 2005, Pieter David (known from his time with the bands CARBON TWELVE, DKW, MINIMALISTIX and CODE BY CODE) began working with Bram Declercq, who works in the photography industry (and also the new singer of recently re-born legendary Italian electro-pioneers PANKOW) thus creating a band that was about much more than just the music, a band that offers a full audio-visual experience to their live audiences.
Packaged in a beautiful digipak designed by FM, graphic designer and leader of PANKOW, NTRSN stands for hard-edged and beautiful analog electronics...

| Premature Ejaculation |
Part 1 [1981] |
|
|
£15.75 |
 |
Review
First release from the long-awaited project "Rozz Williams - The Lost Recordings".
Rozz Williams was just seventeen years of age when he and Ron Athey formed PREMATURE EJACULATION in the summer of 1981, a good six months before CHRISTIAN DEATH entered the studio to record their first album, "Only Theatre of Pain". If the seven untitled tracks on "Premature Ejaculation - Part 1" are primitive and raw, then this is hardly surprising taking into account Rozz and Ron's relative inexperience and their lack of proper recording equipment, or indeed, even instrumentation. While it is true that Rozz had been involved in various bands since he was fifteen, no recordings survive and it would be difficult to believe that any such recordings would have captured anything but their basic 'live' sound during rehearsals. At the time of creating this recording, Rozz and Ron were heavily influenced by NON and THROBBING GRISTLE. It is almost impossible to listen to "Premature Ejaculation - Part 1" and not make instant comparisons with Boyd Rice's debut offering, commonly known as "The Black Album". Neither "Premature Ejaculation - Part 1" nor the bonus 'live' recording have ever been released before in any form.
"Premature Ejaculation - Part 1" consists of seven untitled tracks. Each consists of a series of harsh sounds and two include some vocalisation. Also included is some bonus material, dating from 1982 at the latest, which is in fact a very free jam session. Although Rozz titled the session "Better Than None at All", it is clearly not a recording of the live performance of the same name given by PREMATURE EJACULATION at the Arts Building in Pomona on 18 October 1981. Even so, it gives us a unique opportunity to hear how they sounded during this early period.
The original cassette sleeve for "Premature Ejaculation - Part 1" survives and is in the possession of John Collins. It must be noted that Rozz did not actually make the cassette sleeve in 1981, since he did not start using the year 1334 in his artwork until the early 1990s. Rozz had at one time titled the cassette "Auto-Erotism (Part 1)" but scored this off the front cover with a heavy black marker.

Review
Second release from the long-awaited project "Rozz Williams - The Lost Recordings".
"Premature Ejaculation - Part 2" is a more interesting and well put-together recording than its predecessor. Although far from perfect, it is clear that Rozz was learning his art and developing techniques that he would continue to use throughout the rest of his career. It consists of a long sequence of untitled tracks. Since the original cassette recording featured few, if any, distinguishable track breaks it was felt important not to arbitarily separate each single piece of music for this CD release. Rozz had obviously intended for the music to be enjoyed as a continous listening experience rather than for each piece to be listened to in isolation. This would not be the last time that Rozz used such tactics. "Premature Ejaculation - Part 2" also incorporates the use of samples and there is some vocalisation and some spoken word sequences. Also included is some bonus material dating from 1982 which are selections by Rozz and Ron from various vinyl recordings.
Like the artwork for "Premature Ejaculation - Part 1", the original cassette sleeve for "Premature Ejaculation - Part 2" survives and is in the possession of John Collins. Again, it must be noted that Rozz did not actually make the cassette sleeve in 1981, since he did not start using the year 1334 in his artwork until the early 1990's. Rozz had at one time titled the cassette "Auto-Erotism (Part 2)" but scored this off the front cover with a heavy black marker.

Two CD collection from the 80s supergroup fronted by Dead Boy Stiv Bators, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of their formation. Disc One contains tracks from the band's three albums and includes liner notes and rare photos from Brian's archives. Disc Two was recorded live in London in 1982. "The album presents 10 highlights, remixed by Bryan James, which have more than stood the test of time, displaying a rampantly atmospheric outfit..." Record Collector Magazine

Review
Originally released in 1974, "Phaedra" (a title which derives from Greek mythology) was TANGERINE DREAM's first release on Virgin Records. The album peaked in the UK album chart at number 15, remaining in the charts for 15 weeks. "Phaedra" has been credited as "one of the most important, artistic, and exciting works in the history of electronic music (allmusic.com). It was on this album that the Moog sequencer was used for the first time on a rock and pop record which is one of the many reasons why, since it's initial release, "Phaedra" has also been described as having "passed into the lexicon of electronic music as a state-of-the-art showcase of embryonic music technology coupled with fearless innovation" (Prendergast, 1984).

Review
Three years after the last studio Album "Kremasta Nera", ATARAXIA are back with a marvellous new album on Prikosnovenie. "Llyr" (Lyra) is the name of the instrument of the bards and the Greek lyrical poets; a sacred musical instrument visually inspired by the grace and nobleness of the swans.
ATARAXIA, on this voyage, played the following instruments: classical, folk and 12-string guitars, chitarra battente, keyboards, flutes, sitar, gamelan, daf, frame drums, santoor, tablas, zard and bells. Female vocals are sometimes accompanied by male vocals. This album is a new story inspired by pagan myths, feminine celebrations of Mother Nature and celtic traditions. ATARAXIA and charismatic singer Francesca Nicoli have created their very own, incomparable genre of music: a cosmogenic dark folk praying for beauty.

Review
Three years after his first album Andreas Brinkert (BIPOL) releases a follow-up to the critically acclaimed debut. Brinkert has once again demonstrated his skill in creating moods which range from apprehension and aggression to disarray. Musically BIPOL assimilates classic dark industrial by creating a multitude of hypnotic repetitive sequences, dark drones and mechanical noises that are highlighted by a large variety of complex beats. The twelve tracks include subliminal bits of sound that drift below the surface so that the listener is deeply captivated. BIPOL is supported on three of the tracks by Tim Kniep (SYNAPSCAPE) and Andreas Schramm (ASCHE) and the album's mental intensity is that much more enforced. A superior work of present-day industrial music - a sound that forces you to listen - definitely not music to fritter away the time.

Review
Prikosnovenie finally did it! Here's the last 'missing' re-release from the COLLECTION D'ARNELL ANDREA's backcatalogue!
With this album released in 1996, CDAA returned to a more bucolic inspiration. "Cirses des Champs" is a long pastoral ballad, a book to be gone through as a herbarium of feelings. The album features twelve musical boards in a magic book of spells full of electric bitterness. The sound is harsher than the previous albums; guitars spread an electric sonic wall over which idles the quasi-liturgical voice of Chloé.
This re-release comes with a bonus-track that can be read by a PC or MAC.

Review
Collaboration between CRISTA GALLI (Sarah and Jean-Paul Trutet) and the Harp therapist Daniel Perret from POUSSIÈRES D'ÉTOILE's band.
Few albums are dedicated to nature spirits (fairies, elves, gnomes, devas), but Daniel Perret with his Celtic Harp, opens the doors of a forgotten world. Accompanied by the angelic voices of Crista Galli (Sarah and Jean-Paul), he transmits the messages of these wise beings. The music leads us into an Eden of Harmony with relaxing forests, rivers and nature's ambiances.
Daniel Perret tells us more about 'nature's spirits' : "These intelligent, mostly invisible beings, are working day and night to maintain the harmony of a delicate, intricate fabric. We always thought that a giant tree would unfold out of a tiny seed and grow to its majestic size without any help. We thought that ponds, lakes and rivers would sustain their complex biological balance automatically. Now that this subtle balance has been disturbed practically everywhere, we can finally ask ourselves how all these miracles come about... Now, the time has come to reconnect with the Spirits of Nature and co-operate with them."

Review
In 2008, Régis Baillet and Jérôme Chassagnard decided to pause their project AB OVO and to pursue solo projects. While Chassagnard's first solo album "(F)light" was released on Hymen records, Baillet formed DIAPHANE and began to work on "Samdhya" (Sanscritic for 'twilight'), a project that emanates an atmosphere of reassurance and slight melancholy. Soothing soundscapes and complex rhythms form a mixture of ruminant and impulsive tunes which hypnotize and stimulate at the same time. The well-balanced acoustic and electronic instrumentation, in places enriched with voice samples, result in an enthralling, cinematic feel. DIAPHANE's aural cosmos has to be explored like an undiscovered continent; those who are curious and open minded will certainly be richly rewarded.

Mental [Per]mutation |
|
|
£16.75 |

Review
Welcome to a new audio therapy in the electro madhouse! On "Mental [Per]mutation", our favourite patients dive deeper into the everyday life of the institution, unearthing a sonic rollercoaster ride of thudding mutated dancefloor industrial hybrids ("Käferfrühstück", "Mister 29" and many more), acoustic experiments, and instrumentals with a soundtrack-like feel (the "Retrograd" series.) During the course of the album, the listener will gain deep insights into psychoacoustic excerpts from the patients' files, strange new forms of therapy and numerous soliloquies, often between multiple personalities.
"Mental [Per]mutation" includes a second disc on which special cases from outside the institution (among them the NYC techno legend LENNY DEE) have gained access to KiEw's sound files to inject them with their very own madness. Welcome to Disco Dementia! Only one question remains: are the musicians mad or is it the listener?

When it became apparent at the end of 2009 that the last remaining CD copies of the FADERHEAD albums FH1, FH2 and FH3 would soon be sold, the decision was made to create a 'best of' compilation of the most popular songs from these three records.

Otherwise they wouldn't all be sold out...

Review
With so many labels in the current climate consolidating and promoting 'their sound', Crunch Pod instead continues to expand its eclectic roster of unique artists, presenting the debut "Dendrite" from Australia's young "Bubbergum Cyber" artist BITCH BRIGADE.
Combining vocals reminiscent of LADYTRON and BATTERY, BITCH BRIGADE's Agrippa Cryoflesh mixes light, bouncy EBM that is so well suited to the dancefloor ("Licky the Carnivorous Pony") with percussive and more introspective material (like the SNOG-ish "Tears Are What We Do Now"), having equal success with both, but never covered with the trite, jaded residue left behind by so many other artists in the genre.
Jump on board with a true rising star in EBM, and leave all the prefabricated angst and anger of the less-inspired behind...

Review
Who could have imagined that a few kids in the 70s, fed up with punk, would open a nightclub - The Blitz, in Covent Garden - that would pioneer a style of music that would become one of the most resilient and successful genres of the next few decades? As we reach the end of the '00s heading into the '10s, Electropop is still one of the most successful styles around. MGMT, LA ROUX, LADY GAGA, LITTLE BOOTS, LADYHAWKE, these artists now top the year end polls just as VISAGE, SOFT CELL, HUMAN LEAGUE and DEPECHE MODE did before them.
It's now 30 years since VISAGE released the seminal "Fade to Grey". It was a huge dancefloor hit, topping the charts in the UK and Europe. It's a track that defines the 80s, that instantly transports you back to the time of the Blitz Kids, those New Romantic vanguards whose painted faces and rococo attire littered the pages of Vogue and The Face. To celebrate this anniversary comes the release of this 'Greatest Hits' package featuring 2009 remixes of "Fade to Grey" by Lee Mortimer and Michael Gray of THE WEEKEND and BORDERLINE fame, alongside VISAGE's complete chart-topping hit singles as well as some of the classic and highly sought after dance remixes.

Review
INERTIA are back! After a three year absence since 2007's well received "Inertia" album, the band return with a brand new release "Kloned".
"Kloned" is an album of cover versions by INERTIA executed in their own inimitable brand of electro industrial, with male and female vocals. The band tackle some of their favourite songs from over the years, some for musical reasons, some purely for the fun of it, including the likes of T-REX, THE BEATLES, FALCO, NICK CAVE, DURAN DURAN, THE SPARKS, CONCRETE BLONDE, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, ELVIS PRESLEY, SELENA & DAVID BYRNE and DEPECHE MODE.
This collection of wonderful songs, some well known classics, others more obscure findings, are bound to spawn a whole host of new dancefloor hits for INERTIA.

| John Foxx |
My Lost City |
|
|
£12.50 |

Review
Most of the material on this album was recorded at Foxx's Shoreditch studio, The Garden, between 1981 - 1985. "I hadn't listened to the recordings that are being released as the "My Lost City" album since they were made, over twenty years ago", says Foxx. "When I played them I was struck by the way they evoke a time and a place - and how I'd been unaware of this when they were made. Then they seemed like fragments, unfinished and unsatisfying. A stop on the way to somewhere else. Now they seem like a time capsule discovered from under the streets. Made by someone else. Like an old radio tuned into a long gone station. Curious psychic electricals, crackling distantly from the speakers."
"They were recorded in East London. Back then, Shoreditch and Spitalfields were abandoned, dark and forgotten, yet only a step away from the City of London, the country's financial dynamo. I built a studio in the basement of an old Edwardian department store - trees growing from the upper storeys when we moved in. I remember trying to make connections in this little laboratory between synthesizers and hymns and cities, churches, electricity and memory."
For two decades the material remained untouched; just some old, forgotten tapes buried away in storage until they were rescued in late 2008. Apart from some minor remixing, they're essentially the sound of analogue synthesizers and a lost era when the area around the now bustling, brutally hip and ultra-expensive Hoxton Square was still an abandoned, deserted area of London. A kind of industrial ghost-town. In recent years, John Foxx has been experimenting as a filmmaker (including a pioneering video for L.F.O. and recent performances of his Super 8 project TINY COLOUR MOVIES in Melbourne, London and Barcelona), as an artist (with exhibitions in London and New York and his images being used on the covers of books by Anthony Burgess and Salman Rushdie), and he's now developing a growing international reputation as a writer - last year he headlined a major literary festival where he reads extracts from his as yet unfinished novel "The Quiet Man". He is currently working on new material with Paul Daley (LEFTFIELD) and Benge.

Review
It is not every day that an artist manages to squarely establish herself at the top of the underground electronic scene with only a debut album under her belt. Well, UNTER NULL proved the contrary with the highly successful album "The Failure Epiphany" that has become a classic reference on the dark scene. Sole creation of American artist Erica Dunham, the UNTER NULL project was initiated in 1998. After years of classical piano training, as well as cello and guitar, the foray into electronic music began. UNTER NULL's sound could be described as equal parts melody and noise, venom balanced with sentiment, and a blend of sounds influenced by a wide variety of genres spanning industrial, classical, black metal and IDM.
Today, Dunham breaks her extended and worrying silence with the new aptly titled album "Moving On", which plunges us into a world of torment, violence, deviance and darkness. Synthetic layers and piano lines get assaulted by powerful elektro sequences and EBM rhythms dominated by the poignant and terrifying voice of this unique and uncompromised artist... An intensely introspective and quite a personal album, we can perceive it as a form of catharsis, getting rid of the negative, venomous things in life - be they people or situations. Spiteful moments of complete rage intermingled with broken heart despair through which we simply end up loosing faith in faith…
Produced and engineered by Claus Larsen (LEÆTHER STRIP), "Moving On" reveals how much this artist has matured and broadened her artistic approach, including on stage where Erica Dunham is now supported by a full live band, allowing her the live dynamic to fully render the aggression of an album that looks to span genre boundaries, and overcome scene isolation by incorporating the engaging elements of punk rock energy, metal ferocity, and the intensity and club playability of industrial and EBM.

Review
Spring 1982. The American computer company Commodore releases the first really potent home computer, impressing the growing computer community with technical specifications like 64 Kilobytes RAM and an 8 bit processor with separate graphic andsound chip units: The Commodore 64. This device opened a whole new world for home computer users, it became the world's most popular and successful home computer of the 80s and still holds that title today. The reason was not only a separate cutting-edge graphic accelerator that enabled high resolution gaming and fluent scrolling, but also the unique SID sound chip which was equipped with modern sound effect generators and the capability of three-track polyphonic playback. The result was a new synthetic sound aesthetic which also made the C64 one of the first stand-alone synthetic music production devices. This unique sound kept ringing in the memory of Austrian Stefan Poiss, founder and singer of MIND.IN.A.BOX. He was intrigued by the catchiness and the different sound-design of early computer game classics like "Lightforce" and "Last Ninja 3". By the age of 12 he took his first steps in composing music on the C64, and even wrote his own sequencer music software for the Commodore to put tracks together himself with more ease.
Fast forward to 2009: MIND.IN.A.BOX have just finished their successful album trilogy "Lost Alone", in which they redefined electronic music sound design. Their version of techno pop gains them sublicenses and successful releases in North America as well as in Russia and has already built them a considerable fan base. Now they move back to their own roots with "R.E.T.R.O.", an homage to the days when they sat in front of their C64s, baffled by the amazing sounds that came out of it. On "R.E.T.R.O." they cover computer game classics like "Lightforce" and "The Last V8" - the Mind.In.A.Box way - and mix them with their own songs: compositions like the incredibly catchy "8Bit" meet the symphonic "Whatever Mattered", and deliver an album that holds a neat balance between experimental and the much appreciated quality and identity that MIND.IN.A.BOX are known for so far. But most importantly, they manage to combine their own sound design with the fascination of the 80s videogame soundtrack era.
The CD's booklet also holds explanations from Stefan Poiss and sidekick Markus Hadwiger on what fascinated them about the Commodore 64 video game aesthetics, and how this transformed them into electronic music software creators themselves. As such it also holds interesting insights into what makes MIND.IN.A.BOX special as an electronic band and why their sound developed the way it did. As an additional goodie, the booklet holds a code for additional bonus tracks to download from the band's website.

Review
The curtain rises for a parade of the glamorous and fascinating freaks, celebrating the dark side of life in a morbid cabaret.
IN STRICT CONFIDENCE are back again. Rough, edgy and more elaborate than on their previous album. It took three years to finish the work, and they have clearly used that time to good effect. What has been hinted at by the EP "My Despair" has been honed to perfection on the album "La Parade Monstrueuse". Welcome to a world beyond the mirrors.
IN STRICT CONFIDENCE have collected together various fragments - not only of their own musical history - like the shards of a broken mirror, and put them together to form a new entity. This cabinet of mirrors is full of surprises between the old familiar and the new where you will get lost completely. Dark romantic melodies with their unneglectable rhythmic electro roots ascend far beyond the imagination. Hooklines burn themselves into the brain, refusing to let you escape even as your legs begin to dance. Fragile, multilayered arrangements perfectly reflect the atmosphere of that parallel world and are opposed by rough guitar chords.
With "La Parade Monstrueuse" ISC demonstrate again their exceptional position. They create their own sound space, built with darkwave elements, driving rhythms, harsh guitars and playful synthlayers. Above all, the dark and raw voice of Dennis Ostermann is enthrowned, leading you through this glamorous world. A world that also contains some be-witched moments, like the vocals of the new singer, Nina de Lianin. The record is topped with extravagant artwork, contained in a 20-page booklet.
Let yourselves be abducted into this beautiful, fascinating parallel universe. All the waiting has been worthwhile!

Review
The official CEDIGEST debut, "Walking in the Flesh", is one of the most suprising releases of 2010! Originally founded as a digital hardcore act, the current sound of CEDIGEST can be best described as 'Terror-EBM' or 'Symphonic Industrial Metal'. The band skillfully manage to include a wide range of musical influences into their work including classical, trance, metal and so on and in so doing, walk a completely new path with their sound. PSYCLON NINE and DAWN OF ASHES tried to do this - but CEDIGEST finally managed it! With this album, they prove that they are nothing less than one of the most promising acts on the worldwide industrial scene.

Isotop |

Review
The overhyped golden age of 'neo-EBM' is long gone, presently consisting of a handful of exceptions among a flock of hopelessly outdated projects. Innovation? Negative. FRONT 242's "Geography" and NITZER EBB's "That Total Age" clearly belong to another age - a fact that is widely ignored in spite of the cult surrounding these works.
But salvation is at hand: as was the case with SPETSNAZ at the beginning of the new millennium, the much-needed new blood for a weakening scene once again comes from Sweden. Equipped with power, attitude and character, MERGEL KRATZER enter the hard-fought arena, determined to awake the stagnating genre from its slumber. And they are dead serious: replacing combat boots, camouflage trousers and bald heads with two fistfuls of style. To the left and right of music addict and mastermind Joel Nygren, the two alluring damsels Thistel and Julia provide both musical and optical attractions. EBM was never sexier - that's a promise!
The Gothenburg-based three-piece storm through their debut "Isotop" and unleash a highly addictive energy seldom found in today's scene. Bone-dry beats directly from the EBM manual and the fusion of Joel's direct vocals with Thistel's seductive orders form the outline of a sound which is fascinatingly armed with the modern weaponry of electronic dance music. No doubt, MERGEL KRATZER pay adequate tribute to a classic genre. With smashes like the marching "Prisoner" and "Iso", the legitimate EBM anthem of the new decade, banging through the strobelight-riven fog, one thing becomes crystal clear: this is neo-EBM in its purest form: stylish, sizzling, full of cool energy... and at any time as irresistible as only Swedish girls can be.
"Isotop" is being released as a limited double digipack featuring three sold-out Sweden-only EPs on a bonus disc accompanying the revolutionary debut, tracing the Swedish act' development back to 2004.
Forget meaty paroles and goose-steps: MERGEL KRATZER are the new contemporary face of Electronic Body Music. And it is devilishly handsome.

Review
HIOCTAN have always been a band far away from any conformity or social conventions. "Under Control" is their third longplayer and the typical HIOCTAN sound still kicks ass. Classic dark electro, combining harsh sounds and distorted vocals (as well as choirs and kettledrums) with melancholically arranged strings, culminating in an album full of corroding interhuman feelings. Honest music for honest people! "Under Control" does not even try to keep up with modern trends - in particular, the audio engineering was put into special focus in order to create a sound more transparent than on any HIOCTAN release before. And as ever, their lyrics are very critical towards social issues. The track "Aim of Life" deals with all the people who try to live in line with social conventions - bound to rules they are forced to obey - waiting for the end to come in the neverending spiral of time. "Passion of Cruelty" denounces the persecution of heathens, while "Sonderbehandlung 14f13" addresses genocide during WWII.

Review
At once a swirling torrent of luscious synths, steady glitch-soaked beats, provocative vocal samples, and powerful piano movements, CANDLE NINE's debut "The Muse in the Machine" easily cultivates both cerebral wonder and lip-biting ecstasy.
After a stand-out remix on last year's AD.VER.SARY CD "A Bright Cut Across Velvet Sky" and an appearance on Tympanik Audio's "Emerging Organisms 3" compilation, CANDLE NINE now delivers nine stunning new tracks of welcoming urgency and undeniable warmth, marked by ravenous, addictive beatwork and soul-embracing atmospheres. Brutality meets beauty with expert precision to arrive with such perfect cohesiveness and purpose, your mind is sure to contradict your body.
Includes remixes by AUTOCLAV1.1 and ACCESS TO ARASAKA.

Review
MOMMY HURT MY HEAD from Aarhus, Denmark are what could be the most exciting new thing on the harsh electronic scene for years. Their hard, direct, and uncompromissing sound brings us back to the time when music was made with synthesizers not with computers, and when distorted vocals were made via tube-driven pedals not with plugins.
The Danish electronic scene always had a special sound with acts like LEÆTHER STRIP, PSYCHOPOMPS, BIRMINGHAM 6. But somewhere towards the end of the 90s, this sound totally disappeared and with it much of the Danish scene. MOMMY HURT MY HEAD brings both that special sound and the raw energy back. Denmark is more than ready to be a name on the map again.
Despite this album being their debut album, the people behind the band are no newcomers to the scene. Der Doktor for example was one of the persons in Danish cult industrial duo ARZT+PFUSCH. Abn pAn also has an impressive track record with acts like DEADSTATE 81, GLASS DESCRIPTION and PAN AND THE G9 SLUG.
To fans of harsh old school electronic music like FRONTLINE ASSEMBLY, LEÆTHER STRIP and SKINNY PUPPY, this release will be nothing less than a real feast for the ears. ANd the really cool artwork for this CD was actually made by the youngest artist we have ever hired - a five-year old Danish girl.

Review
Originally released in January of 2009, and sold out within 2 weeks, this eleven-track full length release was on the market for much too short a time and the number of requests for a re-release have been huge. So here it is once again, in regular jewel box this time, the album that marked the first release of the Italian cult group on Out of Line.
The centrepiece of this album is a modern and seriously club-compatible reinvention of the group's classic hit "Heldenplatz", combined with an array of ALL NEW songs that can easily stand in line with some of KIRLIAN CAMERA's biggest classics. On tracks like "E.D.O.", the band mingle memorable melodies with powerful electronics and an irrepressible lust for sonic experimentation, all carried by the impressive vocal presence of Elena Alice Fossi. Elena and Angelo Bergamini have created a dense net of electronic sounds that pull you into their unique atmosphere but that will work on a dancefloor just as well, while still retaining the spirit and feeling of the classic KIRLIAN CAMERA hits. Also features a cover of PINK FLOYD's "Julia Dream", the new version of KIRLIAN CAMERA's classic single "Edges" (originally from 1984) and the FOTONOVELA Remix of "K-Pax".

Review
"Ghost Years" is TOR LUNDVALL's first retrospective CD featuring tracks from various compilations and vinyl-only releases, plus some unreleased material. The focus is mostly on his vocal work, however there are a few instrumental pieces included as well. Although the music spans about a decade, you will be surprised at how well the tracks flow together to make a coherent ensemble, evolving from Lundvall's earlier song-oriented compositions to the more ambient nature of his recent recordings.

Review
Brand new mini-album from the British neo-folk/post-punk act, NAEVUS. The group's sound has been described as "the wire of the dark folk scene" and "what swans would sound like if they were English", but there is much more to the group than this; their distinctive lyrics and modernist approach clearly set NAEVUS apart from their contemporaries.

Review
"Seventh Tree" is the fourth album by genre-busting pop pioneers Goldfrapp. Written by Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory, it was recorded at their own studio deep in the English countryside. The album follows up the platinum-selling and critically acclaimed "Supernature". From the captivating electronic balladry of Mercury nominated debut "Felt Mountain" and its dancefloor-burlesque follow-up, "Black Cherry", Goldfrapp have consistently surprised and delighted with each new album, adeptly bodyswerving both stereotypes and imitators alike. If "Supernature" was airbrushed in bold strokes of glitterball glamour, "Seventh Tree" is its sensual counterpoint. Where its predecessor came cocooned in style and sex, "Seventh Tree" emerges gilded in the butterfly colours of an English surrealism shared from Lear to Lennon. It shimmers and shines with the warmth of a hazy summer, an electric whirlpool of sound over which Alison's glistening voice soars. Goldfrapp are widely acknowledged as modern musical treasures - amongst their most creative and imaginative contemporaries they present albums, live shows and imagery in a self-created, ambitious and consistently uncompromising way.

Review
Monument was ULTRAVOX's first live document and was originally released in October 1983 as a 6-track mini album and as a soundtrack to the 30-minute film of the "Quartet" tour released on VHS at the same time.
Filmed and recorded over 4 nights in December 1982 at the Hammersmith Odeon, the album originally reached no. 9 on the UK album chart and stayed there for 15 weeks. No singles were released from it although a special fan club-only flexi disc of "The Voice" was given away to fans and can be found as track 9 on CD2 of the "Quartet" remaster.
This CD/DVD release features the original 6-track album remastered, along with the two tracks added for the CD release in 1996. It is now also augmented by the previously unreleased "The Song (We Go)". The DVD is the same programme as the original VHS release, once again remastered, and also features a gallery of shots taken from the shows and the "Quartet" recording sessions.

Review
"Quartet" was the band's third studio album, recorded in Monsterrat in 1982 with THE BEATLES dream-team of producer Sir George Martin and engineer Geoff Emerick. At the time Sir George described ULTRAVOX as one of "the most musical bands I have ever worked with".
The album reached no. 6 in the UK album chart in October 1982 and stayed on the chart for 30 weeks. It features the four hit singles "Reap the Wild Wind" (UK no. 12), "Hymn" (UK no. 11), "Visions in Blue" (UK no. 15) and "We Came To Dance" (UK no. 18).
This CD set features the original album remastered on disc 1, plus the relevant B-sides and rarities on disc 2, alongside previously unreleased live tracks recorded in December 1982 on the "Quartet" tour.

Review
Following the sold-out UK tour in April 2009, and subsequent acclaimed festival dates around Europe, ULTRAVOX release the latest of their classic album reissues ahead of further UK dates in November 2009.
"U-Vox" was originally released in 1986. It was the eighth full-length album and the fifth by the band's most recognisable incarnation, fronted by Midge Ure. It was also the last ULTRAVOX album to reach the Top 10 in the UK Album Chart. Following the departure of original drummer Warren Cann, "U-Vox" featured his replacement Mark Brzezicki from BIG COUNTRY. The development of their sound away from electronic rock that was started by "Lament" continued further with this album, and it features some unusual instrumentation, such as the Celtic sound of "All Fall Down" with instrumentation by THE CHIEFTAINS. The album's final track, "All in One Day", was arranged and conducted by George Martin.
This 2CD reissue features the original album digitally remastered plus a bonus disc featuring alternate, extended and live versions, some previously unreleased.

Review
For years he has made a name for himself under various guises in the modern electronic music scene, but the most outstanding of Daniel Myer's (countless) projects is ARCHITECT. Three years after "Lower Lip Interface" Hymen records present the long-awaited fifth album! The difference between the true creative artist and the impersonator is the way in which they deal with influences. Myer's inspirations range from drum'n'bass wizards ENDUSER and CURRENT VALUE up to breakcore warlords VENETIAN SNARES and OTTO VON SCHIRACH - but it is unmistakably ARCHITECT you hear in every note of each track. "Consume Adapt Create": a unique blend of atmospheric IDM, cinematic samples, powerfully distorted sequences, ramming electro grooves, razor-sharp breakbeats, and haunting ambiance. Music to move the dancefloor while still creating enough depth and texture for heavy listening through your headphones. Once again, D. Myer demonstrates astounding compositions, well-placed sounds and complex arrangements of synthetic noise. As heard on this record: "I see things..." - listen up and see for yourself!

The Magic in My Heart Is Dead |
|
|
£10.75 |

Review
The most distinguished ambassadors of hard electronic sounds from the USA return. The title of the group's newest (album-length!) EP, "The Magic in My Heart Is Dead" is pretty programmatic for the horror trip that awaits: unapologetic beats, cold and aggressive screams and a dark atmosphere that make for a sonic scare-fest leaving no place for sunlight. What distinguishes GOD MODULE from most of their genre colleagues are the skilfully implemented melodic trance licks and the new wave and synthpop influences that conjure up little specks of brightness in the midst of all the pandemonium, providing their trip to hell with an amazingly catchy touch.
The US-based group's standout qualities are firmly set in stone on the five new tracks on this new CD. A further six versatile remixes from trademark names on the electronic scene such as ASHBURY HEIGHTS, AESTHETIC PERFECTION and PROJECT PITCHFORK top off this massive electro inferno...
This release is VERY LIMITED, with only 1000 copies available, so order quickly. A perfect appetizer for the upcoming new album!

Resistance Against... |
|
|
£14.00 |

Review
When a hard electro legend such as Racso Agroyam (sound wizard of HOCICO) takes a band under his wing you can be sure that it must be a rather special act indeed. The Mexican group KRIMINAL MINDS ignore all 'evil' Hellectro clichés and choose instead to celebrate music as an uncontrollable outcry of rage against oppression, the system and the dismal world we live in. With ultra-brutal shouts, versatile arrangements and a musical bandwidth spanning from club-compatible beats to all-out noisy industrial onslaughts, "Resistance Against..." is a sonic pamphlet that will shake up more than just your floorboards. Of course, Racso Agroyam's production is omnipresent but KRIMINAL MINDS have so many interesting ideas of their own and are so full of irresistible rage that their music is much more than a mere 'little brother of Hocico'. At a time when almost all hard electro bands tend to sound the same, KRIMINAL MINDS are refreshingly versatile, candid and sport an honest brutality!
Dance the resistance!

Review
"We're back! And we're better than before!" When an artist goes about boasting such a statement over their latest album, it must mean that they are mighty sure of themselves. Anno 2010 A.D., and Chris Pohl's dark-electro-club-industrial-metal-hybrid TERMINAL CHOICE are returning to the very essence of their sound: thundering techno- and break beats mingling with hit-laden melodies, massive riff walls, cynical lyrics and loads of black tongue-in-cheek humour.
Stadium-compatible trance riffs are served hot on hard guitar attacks, whilst the electronic elements play the kind of dominant role that made early TC albums instant floor fillers. "Übermacht" is 100% classic TERMINAL CHOICE reloaded... sporting a much larger, more massive and intense sound than ever before! Jumpstyle on Neue Deutsche Härte? Dark techno at the headbanger's ball? Call it what you like, but on their new album this band simply grind into the ground anything that chooses to stand in their way. They ARE back! And they ARE better than before! ...And the Joker dances to a thudding electro beat with a wide grin.

| Santa Hates You |
Crucifix Powerbomb |
|
|
£13.75 |
 |
Review
The fooling about has finished: now it's time to get serious! SANTA HATES YOU pin you to the mat with the power of "Crucifix Powerbomb". Loud, threatening, danceable, passionate and brutish. For the title of their new album, Peter Spilles (PROJECT PITCHFORK) and Jinxy have chosen nothing less than the name of a finishing wrestling move, and no other description could be more fitting for the dark, apocalyptic, aggressive yet at the same time seductive music which presents itself on the disc. Stomping beats, driving sequencers, apocalyptic sounds and aggressive but seductive vocals all blend into a veritable inferno of condensed strength.
Whoever thought that SANTA HATES YOU were a cute tuppenny playground soft toy combatant, albeit a little weirder, will finally be taught a lesson. Hammering electro explodes undiluted from the speakers, club stompers follow one after the other, just like the quick strike and move sequence of a wrestling match. Just as colourful, just as iridescent, just as unrestrained...
Peter Spilles and Jinxy clobber you, blow after blow. around the ears with one hammering slab of electro after the other, and at the end, someone will remain lying on the mat. This much is certain: it won't be SANTA HATES YOU! Let the dancefloor of your club become the ring. Get set for the match. Because only the really tough will be able to withstand this sweat-inducing, loud and merciless duel. Are you ready?
Let's get ready to rumble!

Silent World |

Review
DESTROID have recognized the signs of times and consequently offer an exciting mix of classic EBM with crunchy synth elements. Their musical spectrum ranges from dancefloor burners to sensitive ballads.
The band founded in summer 2003 consisted of Daniel Myer (vocals, production, programming) and Sebastian Ullmann (production, live keyboard, programming). Their fist album, "Future Prophecies", released in the autumn of the same year, went straight into the DAC Top Ten. After this impressive debut, the second longplayer was released in October 2007. "Loudspeaker" was first successfully introduced to the masses on a European tour with Painbastard and [:SITD:], followed by worldwide shows including the USA, Russia, Australia and at various festivals. This album also achieved success in the DAC (German Alternative Charts), with a peak position of number three.
In 2010, DESTROID have now completed their latest work, the "Silent World" EP, which will include guest vocals by Sven Friedrich (ZERAPHINE) and remixes by [:SITD:] and ASSEMBLAGE 23.

Review
Brand new album by the French-British band CURL, lead by Franck A, former guitarist of CORPUS DELICTI. With Curl he decided to come back to 'new-wave' and began to explore more electronic sounds, where he succeeded in creating the right alchemy with the collaboration of British female singer Hayley Alker (of the project HELSINKI, composed of ex-CRANES members) whose voice is just beautiful. The album also includes the participation of Sebastian, the legendary singer of CORPUS DELICTI.
CURL's sound is quite unique, taking influences from DAVID SYLVIAN, JOY DIVISON, NINE INCH NAILS, THE CURE, COCTEAU TWINS, KRAFTWERK and RADIOHEAD. Their second album "Inner" was released by EMI Publishing in 2004 and their cover of "Closer" by NIN won a nomination for the QWARTZ Electro Music Awards. This new album is a true masterpiece - the sound-production is huge - it is going to be THE revelation of 2010! Don't miss this brilliant album.

Review
YENDRI is a dark electro project based in Hamburg, Germany, made up of sole member Nina, who has released eight albums so far - four on Trisol and four on Mental Ulcer Forges, the label found and run by Rudy Ratzinger of WUMPSCUT. Also known as the Dark Princess of Unconventional Sounds, YENDRI offers a wide range of styles in the genre of dark electronic music, so you will love her music if you don't want to listen to the same old stuff all over again. One of the styles is something that could be called 'goth house', keeping it cold and dark without loosing the funk and soul, if you need a genre for that.
Most songs are produced without any target genre in mind so be warned, there will always be some surprises. Or as YENDRI herself smartly writes on her MySpace page: "Not like NIN, not like DEPECHE MODE, not like VNV NATION, not like WUMPSCUT, not like COMBICHRIST, not even like BJÖRK... hm, maybe just a little bit, not really like COVENANT, not like APHEX TWIN... Just a very futile attempt to be creative here!"
The album features fifteen new songs and comes in a nice superjewel box with a twelve-page booklet.

A trip to the purest and coldest essence of Electronic Body Music. The long-awaited debut release from MEKANIK DISORDER shows, in twelve awesome tracks, its strong personality inside the current old-school EBM scene. Review
Classic debut album from 1979 of one of the most important and influential industrial noise bands of all time. This special edition CD features a digipak with the original artwork restored and an expanded booklet with archival material chosen by Steven Stapleton. The disc has been remastered from the original analog tapes and features bonus material. "Chance Meeting..." enjoys a reputation as one of the most singular debuts of all time. "AllMusic" describes it as "one of the more glowing examples of late-70s industrial noise", and the now-defunct UK music magazine "Sounds" summed up their response by abandoning their usual star rating system to award the album a full five question marks.

Review
PROJECT-X celebrate 15 years of being one of the most successful EBM exports ever to come out of Sweden. With several US and European tours as well as gigs on every major festival in the genre, PROJECT-X have built up a massive fanbase over the years. It has been pretty quiet since the release the album "Modus Operandi", but in 2009 the band (today consisting of Torny Gottberg, Jouni Ollila of POUPPEE FABRIKK/MR JONES MACHINE and Mattias Werdenskog) got together and really focused on a comprehensive return in 2010.
"Needles & Control" is the first track to be released from the band's new and upcoming album. A stunning four-track EP which seeing PROJECT-X paying tribute to one of their most important influences over the years - JOY DIVISION. An upbeat and hard-hitting EBM interpretation of a classic track with all the things you ask for: wicked basslines, vicious beats and a tempo that will make the electro dancefloors all over the world go wild. Add to this an incredible remix of the title track by EBM and industrial legend Claus Larsen from LEÆTHERSTRIP plus two completely new tracks in the form electronic body music anthems "Needle" and "Is This What You wanted?".
We have witnessed 15 years of PROJECT-X growing stronger and these tracks prove that the members have EBM in their hearts and minds. This combination of experience, love and attitude brings you PROJECT-X version 2010.
