Welcome to our weekly round-up of forthcoming releases. It's a short one this week following the Deathwatch Asia Special newsletter.
X MARKS THE PEDWALK are back... after a creative break of almost 15 years, with a massive new album "Inner Zone Journey". It can be easily described as a true masterpiece of modern electronics, with strong production and great melodies. The band will also be performing a one-off reunion show as part of the famous German festival, Wave Gotik Treffen.
"Ich Tu Dir Weh" is the second single from the highly acclaimed RAMMSTEIN album "Liebe Ist für Alle Da". It also features several remixes, including a SCOOTER remix of the previous single "Pussy".

Their musical spectrum ranges from dancefloor burners to sensitive ballads. Dresden boys ABSURD MINDS release the new album "Serve or Suffer", proving that they have not lost any of their energy or independence, whilst delivering a well-executed fusion of melodies, emotional diversity and memorable compositions. Unmistakable ABSURD MINDS!
INERTIA are back! After a three year absence since 2007's well received "Inertia" album, the band return with "Kloned", an album of cover versions executed in their own inimitable brand of electro industrial. The band tackle some of their favourite songs from over the years, including the likes of T-REX, THE BEATLES, FALCO, NICK CAVE, DURAN DURAN, and DEPECHE MODE.
"Under Control" is the third long player from HIOCTAN. Classic dark electro, combining harsh sounds and distorted vocals (as well as choirs and kettledrums) with melancholically arranged strings, culminating in an album full of corroding interhuman feelings.
MENSCHDEFEKT was established in Germany as a solo project of Dominik R. in 2004, with a sound somewhere between electro, industrial and gothic. After two self-releases and many remixes the band were signed to INFACTED RECORDINGS for the release of their first official album, "The Human Parasite".
"Decades Apart" is the new STRANGLERS compilation featuring two brand new tracks and packed with their massive hits and greatest album tracks, this set includes at least one track from each of their 16 albums.
"My Lost City" features material recorded at JOHN FOXX's Shoreditch studio between 1981 - 1985. For two decades the material remained untouched, until rescued in late 2008. Apart from some minor remixing, its essentially the sound of analogue synthesizers and a lost era when the area around the now bustling, brutally hip and ultra-expensive Hoxton Square was still an abandoned, deserted area of London.
Former MAYHEM front man Maniac has formed a side-project with fiancée Vivian Slaughter, bass player/vocalist with the Japanese all-girl band GALLHAMMER, SKITLIV's guitarist Ingvar Magnusson and experimentalist Andrew Liles (of NURSE WITH WOUND). SEHNSUCHT's "Wüste" is in the noise/darkwave/ambient genre, with any vestiges of Black Metal pared away.
The long-awaited debut release from MEKANIK DISORDER shows, in twelve awesome tracks, its strong personality inside the current old-school EBM scene. Cold and visceral electronics, expressed in four languages - English, German, Spanish and Dutch - in an extraordinary variety of tempos, melodies and vocal ranges.
The official CEDIGEST debut, "Walking in the Flesh", is one of the most surprising releases of 2010! Originally founded as a digital hardcore act, the current sound of CEDIGEST can be best described as 'Terror-EBM' or 'Symphonic Industrial Metal'. One of the most promising acts on the worldwide industrial scene?
The Colombian cyber/industrial/dark electro project PSYBORG CORP is ready to attack with their debut "The Mechanical Renaissance". Powerful beats, catchy melodies and a snotty cyberpunk attitude in combination with imaginative Sci-Fi themes do not necessarily have to come from Europe or the US. One of the most promising newcomers on the current industrial scene? (or is that CEDIGEST??).

Review DESTROID have recognized the signs of times and consequently offer an exciting mix of classic EBM with crunchy synth elements. Their musical spectrum ranges from dancefloor burners to sensitive ballads. The band founded in summer 2003 consisted of Daniel Myer (vocals, production, programming) and Sebastian Ullmann (production, live keyboard, programming). Their fist album, "Future Prophecies", released in the autumn of the same year, went straight into the DAC Top Ten. After this impressive debut, the second longplayer was released in October 2007. "Loudspeaker" was first successfully introduced to the masses on a European tour with Painbastard and [:SITD:], followed by worldwide shows including the USA, Russia, Australia and at various festivals. Review For ten years, East German darkwave/electro project ABSURD MINDS, brainchild of singer Stefan Grossman, have played on national and international stages. Having started as a home studio project by Tilo Ladwig and Stefan Grossman, the way of the band rapidly changed in 1999 with their first gig at the scene club 'Bunker' in Dresden: it ended with a contract with the label Scanner run by Frank d'Angelo. Their very first release, 2000's album "Deception", struck with great force into the world of the dark scene. Several albums and singles have been released over the following years. Review HIOCTAN have always been a band far away from any conformity or social conventions. "Under Control" is their third longplayer and the typical HIOCTAN sound still kicks ass. Classic dark electro, combining harsh sounds and distorted vocals (as well as choirs and kettledrums) with melancholically arranged strings, culminating in an album full of corroding interhuman feelings. Honest music for honest people! "Under Control" does not even try to keep up with modern trends - in particular, the audio engineering was put into special focus in order to create a sound more transparent than on any HIOCTAN release before. And as ever, their lyrics are very critical towards social issues. The track "Aim of Life" deals with all the people who try to live in line with social conventions - bound to rules they are forced to obey - waiting for the end to come in the neverending spiral of time. Review MENSCHDEFEKT was established in Germany as a solo project of Dominik R. in 2004. In February of 2009, Fredrik became a permanent member of the lineup, as lyricist and vocalist. Stylistically the sound mainly moves between electro, industrial and gothic. However, MENSCHDEFEKT are also influenced by different genres such as trance, futurepop and others. The lyrics are deliberately constructed to be socially critical and provocative in order to reflect the name 'Menschdefekt'. Fredrik's vocals are aggressive, and usually significantly distorted. The lyrics deal with such topics as war, nationalism/ fascism, murder, consumer consumption and our wasteful society. The human psyche plays a major role in the development of the lyrics. Movie quotes placed in the songs add to their bizarre quality, conveying a sense of insanity and absurdity. MENSCHDEFEKT's first album, "Realitaetsverlust" was produced and distributed in 2006, as the result of request from a friend's request for the album to be made. The second album "Degeneration" followed in the middle of 2007, showcasing even clearer song structures and a more sophisticated sound. MENSCHDEFEKT went on to win the AESTHETIC PERFECTION Remix Contest in March of 2008 with their version of "Schadenfreude" should have appeared on the album "A Violent Emotion", but the bonus CD which was expected to contain the remix was never published by Bractune/Out of Line (although the remix does appear on the Japanese Limited Edition of the album from Death Watch Asia). Since gaining first place in this remix competition, MENSCHDEFEKT's popularity has risen astronomically. The song "Stalingrad" was created in late summer of 2008, from the mutual cooperation between MENSCHDEFEKT, STAHLNEBEL and BLACK SELKET, and proved to be MENSCHDEFEKT's much-needed breakthrough. The track was soon playing across the dancefloors, and in a flash national as well as international clubs had jumped on the bandwagonIt is also played on different webradio programs. Review Most of the material on this album was recorded at Foxx's Shoreditch studio, The Garden, between 1981 - 1985. "I hadn't listened to the recordings that are being released as the "My Lost City" album since they were made, over twenty years ago", says Foxx. "When I played them I was struck by the way they evoke a time and a place - and how I'd been unaware of this when they were made. Then they seemed like fragments, unfinished and unsatisfying. A stop on the way to somewhere else. Now they seem like a time capsule discovered from under the streets. Made by someone else. Like an old radio tuned into a long gone station. Curious psychic electricals, crackling distantly from the speakers." "They were recorded in East London. Back then, Shoreditch and Spitalfields were abandoned, dark and forgotten, yet only a step away from the City of London, the country's financial dynamo. I built a studio in the basement of an old Edwardian department store - trees growing from the upper storeys when we moved in. I remember trying to make connections in this little laboratory between synthesizers and hymns and cities, churches, electricity and memory." For two decades the material remained untouched; just some old, forgotten tapes buried away in storage until they were rescued in late 2008. In recent years, John Foxx has been experimenting as a filmmaker (including a pioneering video for L.F.O. and recent performances of his Super 8 project TINY COLOUR MOVIES in Melbourne, London and Barcelona), as an artist (with exhibitions in London and New York and his images being used on the covers of books by Anthony Burgess and Salman Rushdie), and he's now developing a growing international reputation as a writer - last year he headlined a major literary festival where he reads extracts from his as yet unfinished novel "The Quiet Man". Review HOT CHIP are back with their stunning fourth studio album. The songs for "One Life Stand" were largely written around the piano, the Wurlitzer, or the Prophet keyboard, and demoed at Alexis' and Joe's respective home studios. They were then taken to Lanark Studio which Al and Felix own and run, to be fully produced and fleshed out with the three remaining band members. In addition, recording contributions from legendary innovators of their respective fields Charles Hayward (THIS HEAT), and Fimber Bravo (STEEL'N'SKIN), as well as newer musicians Leo Taylor (THE INVISIBLE), and string arrangers and experimental composers Emma Smith and Vince Sipprell (GEESE), were added to elevate the record further. The finished record is HOT CHIP's most up-front, coherent and melodically bold release to date; an uncluttered, warm and soulful, uplifting and heart-on-sleeve collection. Featuring the archetypal Hot Chip song, title track and first single, "One Life Stand", built on a metronomic but pulsing groove, and reaching up to a joyously simple/naive chorus of monogamous embracement, the album is from start to finish one of love - euphoric, nostalgic, brotherly, realistic even. Review 20 years have passed since "Leichenlinie" was released for the first time (the first EVER release on Tesco!), and it has now been 10 years since it was released for the second time. And now it shines again as the totally remastered 20 years anniversary edition. Complete with two additional tracks, recorded around the same time and formerly released on the Monochrome Meditator MC only (SSSM/Japan 1991). This material is one of the most wanted records of all time in this genre! And even today, "Leichenlinie" remains an outstanding release in the german post-industrial music genre. The well-balanced music contains power electronic rhythm-based tracks as well as dark drowning ambient pieces with haunting samples. Chins erect and chests held high, they stand in rank and file, awaiting further instructions from NACHTMAHR high command... With his brand new EP "Mädchen in Uniform" General Thomas Rainer dedicates a long overdue monument to the uniformed ladies of this world. And while the musical side of this release breaks rank somewhat with NACHTMAHR's back catalogue, the visual and conceptual side retain their dominant militaristic approach. After global thrusts on the concert front and the destroying storm of decadence and obsession aptly named "Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit" which laid the world to waste and successfully defended the peak of the DAC (German Alternative Charts) for several weeks in a row, Supreme Commander Rainer puts a sonic middle finger up to all those accusing the Austrian Imperial Industrial commando of monotony. Review The Assassin - Murder? Crime of passion? As always, ROME's titles ought to be taken with a pinch of salt. ROME's new 'Chanson Noir' is speaking of man's enslavement in a world of constant transformation. The traditions of (French) chanson and (American) folk are becoming more and more influential in their current work. The previous album "Flowers from Exile" already gave a first impression of what they themselves call 'Chanson Noir' - the darker side of singer/songwriter tradition: post-industrial folk with bits and pieces of electronic pop, complex arrangements of breathtaking melodies, mesmerizing ballads of lyrical beauty, underlining ROME's ethos of never faltering or remaining uninvolved. This EP features four songs, among which the exclusive and intimate track "One Flesh". The creative input of new member Nikos Mavridis (on violin and other stringed instruments) has become more and more apparent, most obviously in the reinvented, 'stringed' versions of two classic ROME tracks "Der Erscheinungen Flucht" and "Der Brandtaucher" from the highly successful album "Masse Mensch Material". Review The fascination of evil. There are few bands that manage to adapt the most extreme sides of human behaviour to club-compatible electronic sounds as effectively as SUICIDE COMMANDO, the evil musical brainchild of Belgian hard electro legend Johan van Roy. Review The legendary Belgian electro act SIGNAL AOUT 42 is renowned for more than just hard beats, monotonous warbling bass and the standard club staples: the music is an intense and atmospheric trip to the dark side of humanity. Massive analog sounds, hypnotic tribal rhythms, thudding EBM beats and the raw deep voice of Jacky Meurisse meld to epic tracks in an electronic spectacular that sounds like the sonic adaptation of a collaboration between H.P. Lovecraft and David Lynch. Review Individual maturity and artistic growth led EVEN VAST to an evident separation from their initial sound, which was rather heavy and slow as characterized by "Hear Me out" (1999) and "Outsleeping" (2003), two albums which nonetheless gained the band critical acclaim and aroused the interest of many people. Their third album "Teach Me How to Bleed" (2007) led the band towards a more decadent darkwave sound. In late 2007, they decided to modify their moniker to EVEN MORE VAST (also reflecting the stabilisation of their lineup as a trio) and went on to record this current album which features completely re-arranged and re-recorded versions of the songs from "Teach Me...", plus three promo tracks recorded in late 2007, and the previously unreleased track entitled "Would You Believe?". The result is an album of HIGHLY recommended first class wave/gothic/ethereal/cold wave, comparable with earlier FAITH AND THE MUSE and the early 4AD sound, such as the COCTEAU TWINS - without ever sounding 'dated', 'retro' or 'trendy'. "Would You Believe?" is simply 'handmade music' - each and every track has its own singular character, free from clichés. EVEN MORE VAST know their influences, without ever trying to copy them. Even their cover version of JOY DIVISION's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (which has been highly praised by many German mags) is no imitative blasphemy, but a highly inspired homage, as only THE SWANS have succeeded in delivering so far! A truly wonderful album, which wins the listener over from the very first listen, thanks to marvellous instrumentation, impressive songwriting and, above all, Antonietta's intense vocals. In short, with "Would You Believe?", Antonietta Scilipoti (vocals and keyboards), Luca Martello (guitars and electronics) and Vincenzo Di Leo (bass) deliver a true pearl in this often boring music scene and this album deserves attention!
