Electro Pop Spotlight On Thermostatic !
Thermostatic Joy-Toy ( + Bonus ) ( Reissue ) £6.99
Review
Finally a re-release for this sold out and highly acclaimed debut album from Thermostatic originally released in 2005. "Joy- Toy" delivers pefect and pristine Electro / Bitpop at its very best ! This new version comes presented in a special card sleeve complete with FOUR Bonus Tracks ( including a fantastic cover of the Pet Shop Boys "Paninaro" )

"Joy-Toy" offers up computer influenced Swedish synthpop with female vocals : a bit like a female fronted cross-breeding of Kraftwerk and Elegant Machinery with a good 80's / nostalgic feeling. A huge treat for all fans of distinctive analogue electro sounds, ''Joy-Toy'' cleverly combines perfect bit-pop sounds with appealing female ( and vocoded ) lyrics to deliver 10 tracks of quality retro / electro bit-pop. Prepare to be seduced by robotic, excellently played and utterly melodic electro-pop...

Electro Pop Highlights From MNS
The Knife Silent Shout ( Deluxe Edition ) £12.99
Review
Expanded 3 Disc package from Swedish Electro-Pop wunderkinds The Knife. This Enhanced ( and dare we say essential ! ) package includes : "Silent Shout," the album, the DVD "Silent Shout : An Audiovisual Experience" featuring the Andreas Nilsson-directed live show, the entire collection of Knife videos - including videos shot by Nilsson ( "Silent Shout," "Heartbeats," and "Like A Pen" ) and acclaimed Japanese artist Motomichi Nakamura ( "We Share Our Mother's Health" ) PLUS the animated short film "When I Found The Knife." A previously unreleased live Audio CD with music from the DVD performance completes the package.

MNS' Original Review ( from 2006 ) :-
Emerging from the Euro Techno / Electro pop scene as a distinct and original voice, Swedish sibling duo The Knife present their stunning third album "Silent Shout" - a follow up to their Grammy laden sophomore release "Deep Cuts". "Silent Shout" eschews the quirky, often irregular and varied quality of their previous album, ironing out the bumps to deliver a much more streamlined, tighter, graceful and altogether more focused album. From undulating opener - all arpeggiated sequencer lines and whispered distorted vocals you are snared in The Knife's sublime ability to marry simple, burrowing melodies with melancholy machine code rhythms and instantly recognisable ( as them ) vocal effects : one triumph that they have surely succeeded in ( and it is a problem that all vocal fronted electronic bands have struggled with over the years ) is placing themselves as instantly recognisable due to their inventive and original use of vocal effects - from slowed down pitch-filtered textured vocoders, to helium octaves crtoonist speech they perfectly navigate the vocal / textural divide as inventively as and refreshingly as any band in recent memory. With more assured arrangements - "Silent Shout" is a menacing collection of hook-laden songs that brim with imagination and electronic inner grandeur - from the synth flare and chunky bass led drive of "Neverland" to the beautiful melodic pop of "Marble House" ( sounding as if Benny and Bjorn had been jettisoned from Abba to be replaced by Ralf & Florian in a Depeche Mode circa "Violator" fronted by Bjork kind of way ) - "Silent Shout" is wonderful, bracing, involving...and above all truly original. Definitely an early contender for best record of 2006 - "Silent Shout" pushes at the boundaries of contemporary electronic music and succeeds triumphantly.

Marsheaux Peek A Boo / Ebay Queen £12.99
Review
Truly championed here at MNS as potentially one of the Best releases of 2007, "Peek A Boo" from Greek duo Marsheux is a true revelation and an essential release for all Electro-Pop fans everywhere. This album is special.

Acheiving a cohesive Electro-Pop album brimming with melody, song-writing class and repeat play potential is no easy thing - yet here Marsheaux have achieved it. From the opening refrain of album opener "Hanging On" this album delivers song after song of classic status. You will be humming these songs for months ! Impressive multi-coloured arrangements ( proving that what is left out is as important as what is left in ) vie with breathy, seductive female vocals, ultra-catchy and infectious melodies and brilliant analogue flourishes. "Peek A Boo" is just crammed with solid dancefloor fillers that combine a real understanding of structure with an irresistable array of synthetic grooves that just get under the skin. And stay there.

Out Of Line should be commended for picking up this talented act and this album comes recommended to ALL fans of female fronted Electro Pop ( Client, Ladytron, theStart etc ) bands.

"Peek A Boo" is released as a Limited Deluxe Double Digipak complete with the group's highly acclaimed debut album "E-Bay Queen" as a special Bonus second disc !

Iamx The Alternative £12.99
Review
New alluring, super-sexy solo album from Chris Corner ( former front man of London's Sneaker Pimps ), now signed to Major Records with his solo project IAMX ( pronounced I Am X ). "The Alternative" is a sexual, melancholy, synthetic, dark and melodic album - a mixture of Electro / Glam soundscapes and technoid dancefloor manouvers further enhanced by frantic guitar noise and breathless, erotic vocals...

This album has been a constant source of wonderment here at MNS as it has continued to grow and grow and grow in popularity - probably due to the utterley entrancing song-writing, excellent arrangements and its overall sheer brilliance ! For ANYBODY seeking an appealing, electro-infused album full of real songs, masses of depth and repeat play potential - look no further than this - sticking our collective necks out, the MNS mind-collective would go as far to say that "The Alternative" is an assured and unmissable album destined for future classic status. Brilliant.

Iris Wrath £8.99
Review
Pure quality : Almost two years after the European release of their last hit album "Awakening", US electro-pop sensations Iris return with their eagerly awaited third regular studio album "Wrath". With ten, simply stunning electro / synthpop hymns - that set new standards in melodic, expressive and uptempop electronic songs, Iris prove that they are operating on another level altogether. "Wrath" is simply a masterpiece of electronic pop music, updating and building upon the glories of its predecessors "Disconnect", "Reconnect" and "Awakening". With powerful, unstoppable and ultra-catchy songs such as "No One Else To Lose", "Appetite", 'Hell's Coming With Me" and "Guide On Raging Stars" there are at least 4 potential hit-singles on this album and make "Wrath" an absolute MUST HAVE for all fans of Mesh, Camouflage, Depeche Mode etc...

Jeans Team Musik Von Oben £11.99
Review
From the home of electronic music, Berlin based Jeans Team deliver 10 unvarnished and utterly pristine songs of glistening and pearlescent electro-techno-pop. ''Musik Von Oben'' inhabits the realm of melody driven electronics, drawing on the inspirations of scene godfathers such as Kraftwerk, Telex, Yello and more recently the airy ambience of French electronic masterminds Air, to produce a masterpiece of minimal, firmly rhythmic, Teutonic robotic pop music. From opening track ''Berlin Am Meer'', all bleeps, synth sweeps and breathy melodies to the ubiquitous single ''Oh Bauer'' an infectious slice of up tempo techno pop and ''Moara Mea'' a blended concoction of ( what sounds like ) Russian female vocals ( delivered deadpan of course ) computer game effects and sliced up dry grooves. Next track ''Konigin'' offers up whispered German vocals acoss a hard, bubbling synth line, urgent sequencers and a thunderous chorus synth-line section, blended perfectly this track delivers one of the highlights o the album - an uptempo, anthemic techno pop classic....Half way through ''Musik Von...'' the subtle downtempo track ''Wunderbar'' floats on an effervescent wave of ethereal melody with gorgeous chord changes and a repeated vocals refrain, an optimistic widescreen presentation for the ears and mind. ''Nonstop Nonstop Nonstop'' begins with a complex collection of assembled rhythms before diving headlong into the title being repeated to the accompaniment of machine noises, bleeping sequencers and undulating melodies, while ''Faul'' and ''Boat Music'' offer uptempo bass driven orchestral electro quirkiness and vivid instrumental varied sound sculptures. Album closers ''1482'' present a short track of processional, strange, trumpet electro weirdness that segues seamlessly into ''Arthur'', yet another slice of perfectly poised techno pop, summery, danceable, uncommercial but utterly infectious and brilliant. Summing up ''Musik Von Oben'' delivers 10 tracks of perfectly produced and arranged, mesmerising electro op that no fan should be without. Very recommended.

Ladytron Witching Hour ( Ltd 2CD Reissue ) £15.99
Review
Limited Edition 2CD Version of "Witching Hour" featuring a Bonus Nine track Remix Disc !

Ladytron's breakthrough third album "Witching Hour" represents an artistic quantum leap, establishing the Liverpool-based boy / girl neo-synth-pop foursome as one of contemporary music's most exciting and inventive forces. In addition to showcasing Ladytron's trademark mix of layered synth textures, infectious pop hooks and plaintive female vocals, "Witching Hour" embodies the stylish soundscapes and stylish songcraft that made Ladytron's prior work so appealing, while introducing a darkly dreamy vibe and an unpredictable energy that's reflected on such diverse tracks as the trippy, guitar-buzzed "Sugar," the haunting, gothic "Destroy Everything You Touch," the bleakly beautiful "High Rise," the soulfully bittersweet "International Dateline," the killer ballad "Beauty Two" and the Euro-industrial "Fighting In Built Up Areas."

Haujobb Vertical Mixes £3.99
Review
Daniel Myer's electronic cult pseudonym returns with an innovative remix album of a different kind. Having received worldwide critical acclaim for their pioneering attitude towards electro / electronic music Haujobb's consistently brilliant output has seen them rise to one of the most respected artists / remixers within the genre. Never standing still, their evolution has seen them constantly pushing at the boundaries of modern EBM / Electro effortlessly veering from dance floor manoeuvres to stunning experimentalism - always keeping the senses alert for the next era in cutting edge electronic music. Not content with simply release an album of 'club-orientated' dance remixes, with "Vertical Mixes" Myer and Co seize the opportunity to create something totally new, invigorating and refreshing : twisting, reconstructing, forging and deconstructing the given musical material to create a mind bending bridge between their own musical mix of industrial and EBM and modern electronica / electronix. Withthe help of collaborators such as This Morn Omina and Iscoloscope, Glis, Seabound, Hecq, Asche and Backlash they catapult their sound into the new Millennium with a combination of steam-hammer EBM, ambient atmospherics and experimental electronics sounds. Simply put "Vertical Mixes" delivers futuristic EBM at its best.
