Review
Following on from the highly sucessful limited boxset "Reformation 01", Irish/English duo VNV NATION are set to release the full length album "Of Faith, Power and Glory". This album sees the band reach a new level musically. More soulful and raw than ever before, VNV NATION are moving into new musical territories with their own distinctive sound. "Of Faith, Power and Glory" is set to be the band's strongest and most profoundly evocative release yet, taking a big leap beyond what they had achieved on their last album "Judgement".
The album features a cover designed by Polish graphic artist Michal Karcz, who also created the artwork for "Judgement". It is undoubtedly one of his finest works, featuring an image of a monument in the middle of a wasteland, a metaphor for all our greatest hopes and solemn intentions, as well as the brutal extremes that we are capable of, the schizophrenic nature of human beings and the eternal struggle to move forward.
In keeping with the band's environmental principles, the new CD will come in extremely environmentally friendly packaging, using only recycled paper, vegetable ink and water based glue. Even the print on the CD uses vegetable ink. The packaging weighs 40-50% less than normal packaging which means it uses less fuel when it's transported, which reduces the carbon footprint of the CD production. The best part is that it looks great too!

Review
VNV NATION's highly anticipated release "Reformation 1" is finally on its way! This is a highly limited release that's especially intended for the band's fans, VNV NATION's first box set, the contents of which are something that any fan would love to own - a 12-track live CD (recorded on the "Matter and Form" tour in 2005, at the Wave Gothic Treffen Festival in 2006, on the "Judgement" Tour in 2007 and at the M'era Luna festival in 2008), a 13-track remix album featuring rare or previously unreleased material (tracks written between "Future Perfect" and "Matter and Form" albums, for the soundtrack of the movie "Gene Generation" in 2007), and a DVD containing 8 videoclips. There will also be a nicely designed booklet with lyrics, full information on all the tracks and a large number of live photos, all packaged in a high quality, dark grey, fabric covered box with the band's name and logo embossed on it.
Ronan Harris says of Reformation 1: "We spent a lot of time in 2008 planning what our releases should be like from now on and this is part of the results. The original idea for "Reformation" was to replace the need for singles by releasing an EP or Album containing remixes, alternate versions and live versions of tracks from the album "Matter and Form". We never abandoned the plan and, as ideas grew, "Reformation" evolved into something much bigger and better. "Reformation 1" will be part of a series to release special material to our fans. We put a lot of work into this and we're very proud of the results. We hope you will be too."
VNV Nation will release their next full-length album "Of Faith, Power And Glory" in June 2009 and will be doing a full tour of Europe in September/October 2009.

Today We Are All Demons |
|
|
£16.25 |

Review
This is Techno Body Music! There is probably no other act that has influenced this musical genre as much Andy LaPlegua with his project COMBICHRIST.
"Today we are all Demons" is an album immersed not only in the trademark fire and burn of the COMBICHRIST of yore, but also one that adds a newfound sense of urgency and dynamics. It sees LePlegua meshing old sounds with new, creating a whole new direction for the band. The increased hardness-factor and the thoroughly European sound are very effective: when Andy LaPlegua exorcises his inner demons and screams out his anger to massive thudding beats and noisy electronics, COMBICHRIST becomes a perfect club inferno. Furthermore, keen Andy is a master at embedding solid beats, deep bass and recognizable hook lines in the midst of all this pandemonium, thus keeping things catchy, no matter how hard the sound. From the propulsive and expansive "All Pain is Gone" to the sultry stomp of "Can't Change the Beat" and the jackhammer-pounding of "Get Out Of My Head", not to mention the the well-known club hit "Sent To Destroy", from the advance "Frost EP", this album rips through beats, bass and rhythm, creating an aggro genre that criss-crosses rock, metal, industrial and underground dance.
The limited first edition of the album will come as a double disc in a digipak, with a special bonus CD on which Andy unleashes his total sonic madness onto the world. This is COMBICHRIST - taking over your club in January!

A Perfect Solution |
|
|
£12.75 |

Review
After a three year absence, Bristol's hottest underground export in heart-wrenching electronic pop is back.
MESH, the duo of Mark Hockings and Rich Silverthorn, return with "A Perfect Solution", possibly the most mature, mutable and yet toughest album of their career. While no one doubts Mark Hocking's status as an exceptional vocalist, a complete listen to this album also serves to highlight the band's songwriting and arrangement skills. Once pegged as a purely retro synth act, MESH have mutated into a true live band, and the resulting versatility in the arrangements transforms what might have merely been eleven good songs into absolutely outstanding ones.
Thematically, "A Perfect Solution" is a bit darker than previous releases. The tone of the album is typified by "If We Stay Here", a tale of broken relationships between people who once loved each other, but who now just exist in the same space. The massive housing facade pictured on the cover further symbolizes the painful dramas that take place behind its windows. The wires running throughout the artwork are both safety lines and shackles - anything but "A Perfect Solution".
Were the album musically as dismal and hopeless as it is lyrically, "A Perfect Solution" might be too much to handle, but luckily MESH know how to strike the delicate balance between bitter and sweet.

Review
Please note: This boxset is exceedingly large and very heavy.
Arriving imminently, the long-awaited new album from DEPECHE MODE entitled "Sounds of the Universe". It is being much touted a return to form for the trio from Essex, and the chosen name alone makes the release feel like the follow up to "Music For The Masses". But it doesn't stop there... DEPECHE MODE apparently returned to using a lot of vintage gear in the making of this album, from analogue synthesizers to drum machines, in order to conjure up the retro-futuristic arrangements featured here. Lyrically the release contains many of the group's enduring obsessions plus more overt black humor than any of their previous collections. Not to be missed.
This collector's box set comes packaged in a two-piece custom-made box with foil blocking, and contains 2 x 84 page hardback books. The first features the lyrics to all the songs from the "Sounds of the Universe" sessions accompanied by exclusive photography by Anton Corbijn. The second features exclusive and candid studio photography by Daniel Miller, Ben Hillier, Luke Smith and Ferg Peterkin. The box also contains two exclusive enamel badges, a poster, 5 artcards sealed in a collectors envelope, and a certificate of authenticity.

Review
ASSEMBLAGE 23 and Tom Shear - there's no need to introduce the man behind this figurehead of electronic music. For almost ten years, he has provided the scene with a string of hits.
Still, his new album demands a closer look. It is not just his sixth studio album - "Compass" is a lot more than that. This album is the uncompromising presentation of Tom Shear's biggest strength, the composition of dreamingly beautiful ballads, relentlessly catchy tunes and club hits that will draw all the party animals to the dance floor. He is a real master of his trade, and on this newest work, he has achieved the feat of sticking to the sound all ASSEMBLAGE 23 fans love and hope for, while still creating a powerful and exiting new vibe. Listening to this album and discovering "Compass" in its whole glory is pure fun; it fascinates and electrifies.
All this combined makes sure that "Compass" is not just a treat for Shear's big fan base but will also excite all those who have not yet discovered the fascination of ASSEMBLAGE 23. The single "Spark" has already proven a strong and promising harbinger - but who would have thought that Tom Shear might surpass this benchmark in such a glorious way. For all those who love straightforward but also sophisticated and substantial electronic music, this album is not to be missed!
The very limited deluxe edition of "Compass" comes complete with bonus CD and in special, and very beautiful packaging.

The Queens of Electronic Cool are back!
The stylish ladies with the skilful hands for electronic music are plunging us headlong into an addictive maelstrom of groovy Minimal Disco, mingled with the coolness of New Wave and an unerring Pop sensibility. Compared to the big scale cinemascope-sound of "Heartland", CLIENT have returned to their very essence: "Command" is a raw and straightforward production dominated by analog synthesizers and Minimal Electro arrangements with full-on, club-friendly beats. Following the credo that less very often equals more, the trio have conjured up a highly versatile album from these basic ingredients. Bare bones dance tracks such as "Believe in You" and "Satisfaction" breathe the foggy air of trendy clubs, the sinister "Don't Run" is a gripping little sonic angst scenario and songs like "Can You Feel?" are perfect Pop tunes. No matter which musical realm the band enters, the result is always stylish and catchy as hell. Alternating between girlish innocence and femme fatale, CLIENT skilfully play their cards, knowing full well that their new album is raising the bar for Minimal Disco, New Wave and Alternative Pop.
This limited first edition comes as a double CD with bonus disc containing remixes and videoclips.

Liebe Ist für Alle Da [Deluxe Edition] |

£17.50 |

Review
RAMMSTEIN are back. Four years after the release of "Rosenrot", their last studio outing, Germany's most successful rock act have announced the release of a brand new studio album, "Liebe Ist für Alle Da".
Since starting out 15 years ago, RAMMSTEIN have built a reputation as a controversial, no-compromise, and hugely entertaining band, with a fiercely loyal and genuinely international following. Today, they stand head and shoulders above the competition as the greatest (musical) showmen on earth, with an incendiary stage performance that generally results in tickets for their concerts selling out in minutes. They return to UK stages in February 2010, in support of their sixth studio album - an eleven track offering that is already being talked about as a classic to rival their hugely acclaimed 2001 "Mutter" release.
Produced by Jacob Hellner and mixed by Stefan Glaumann, the regular RAMMSTEIN team, this latest album is perhaps the Berlin band's most varied release to date, including genuine surprises, a smattering of English and French, plus some of the heaviest songs in their repertoire. As always with RAMMSTEIN, controversy is never too far from the scene, with lead single/video "Pussy" already causing something of a stir, and "Wiener Blut" drawing 'inspiration' from the recent much-publicised case of Austrian Josef Fritzl. Other key tracks include "Rammlied" (a celebration of the band itself), "Waidmanns Heil" (which sees traditional hunting horns used for the first time) and "Roter Sand", an atmospheric cinematic composition unlike anything the band have recorded before.
This deluxe edition of the album comes complete with a bonus disc featuring five previously unreleased tracks. Like the standard edition, it is housed in a digipak with gold-blocked lettering. It is also packaged in an outer slipcase and comes with a bespoke sticker.

Review
Airy melodies, playful sounds without fear of crossing the border into sweet catchiness, yet paired with coolness, energy and a small hint of dark pathos - if there is one band these days that manages to preserve the spirit of the Golden Eighties, it must be the electronic girlie-duo MARSHEAUX. Fortunately, Sophie and Marianthi do not resort merely to blindly copying well-tried success formulae from pop-eras past, but rather use the same tools to cook up a delicate and delicious electro pop stew of their own. On this, their third album, the two girls prove yet again that they have got a formidable talent for writing irresistibly catchy melodies, spiced up with a healthy dose of modern club sensibility. The darker note that haunts a few of the tracks, quite befitting of the album title, provides an interesting counterpoint, as well. This album find MARSHEAUX are as versatile as never before: minimal disco anthems like the singles "Summer", "Ghosts" and "Breakthrough" go hand in hand with picture-prefect pop tunes and excursions into more beat-oriented territories. "Lumineux Noir" is the perfect fusion of Pop and Club, an irresistible minimal disco trip... in short: an album to fall in love with!
The first edition of this release comes as a special limited double CD.

Electronically Yours Volume 1 |

Review
Here it is - the release of Electronically Yours "EY Volume 1", possibly the most significant collection of new electronic pop music since 1981's "Some Bizzare Album" which launched the recording careers DEPECHE MODE, SOFT CELL, THE THE and BLANCMANGE. Featuring synthly the best new acts on Planet Earth, "EY Volume 1" has been pre-programmed for your listening pleasure!
Electronically Yours started life as a blog in tandem with Secrets Online, both in celebration of synthesizer pioneers THE HUMAN LEAGUE. The thrill of electronic music merged the two sites into one. But then in late 2006, the discovery of Greek electro-maidens MARSHEAUX changed everything...
EY webmeister Rob Windle (AKA Orac)'s belief in the duo's wonderful analogue synchronicity and Eurocentric charm led to them headlining the first 'EY Night' for their live UK debut in London and the aftermath was an enthusiastic union with Undo Records to bring you this CD. Only one condition was specified...all the tracks had to be 'really good'!
So it is only apt that MARSHEAUX contribute a brand new track "Sadly" to this collection as well as having a hand in several of the remixes on show. "EY Volume 1" perfectly captures a fantastic moment in time. The last 24 months have seen a resurgence in what is known to many as 'electropop'. In the past, it was the mainstay of boys with their toys who were prepared to play the role of 'outsider' in yesterday's tomorrow. What has revitalised the genre without a doubt are the feisty, glamourous ladies who are not only fronting the music but are helping to create it too. No electropop puppets here! 21st Century electro is fresh BECAUSE of the female voices... 80s synth pop never sounded this sexy!
So taking the lead from 21st Century female-fronted electronic acts LADYTRON, GOLDFRAPP and MISS KITTIN, this brilliant compilation brings together the best of 'neu musik' for those who still love the sound of synth.
No guitars here and frankly who cares?

Review
After three years of silence following the release of their successful album "We Collide", MESH return with "Only Better", the pre-release single to the forthcoming LP "A Perfect Solution" to be released in October. Those who are familiar with this British act will know that neither title is meant to be taken as optimistically as they may first appear, and those who let the music take effect quickly realize that it is precisely the opposite, for MESH have become harder, dirtier, and darker on "Only Better" than we have become accustomed to. The former synth-pop heroes are not afraid to break from convention and make use of guitars either, which will likely raise some eyebrows, particularly on the exclusive B-side "Shattered Glass".
Both songs are perfect previews to the style of the new album, both in music and lyrical content. Single and album deal with the less beautiful aspects of a relationship, painful compromises, fateful dependencies upon each other and because of each other, relationships whose best days are behind them yet are continued out of fear of giving them up rather than an emotional connection.
If that were not enough, the tracks also feature the incomparably melodic vocals of MESH frontman Mark Hockings, who is definitely to be regarded as one of the best singers in the genre.

War on Error |

£10.50 |

Review
ROTERSAND take up the fight against conformity and standardisation. The influence of media and marketing strategies increasingly undermines the significance of individuality. In order to extend and facilitate access to our personal data and consumer profiles, the system has declared a war on error; a war against the unpredictable, the imponderable, the 'error' in every one of us. It is ROTERSAND's aim to intentionally cause flaws in that system as a means of civil disobedience. They oppose the system with a clear message: "It's my life, it's my mind, it's my heart - I'm not a digit". To prevent us from eventually becoming mere cogs in a perfectly synchronized data exploitation system, ROTERSAND call upon us to "Be less transparent, be less predictable, be an 'error' in this ever-refining matrix of the commerce machinery!"
"War on Error" contains seven exclusive mixes and one track not available anywhere else ("Dirty"). This supercharged E.P. will take the electro dancefloors by storm and also recruit an army of new fans. Once again ROTERSAND prove that not only do their sales figures rank at the top of the international electro scene, but also that their massive tracks set the clubs ablaze and their intelligently produced songs captivate live audiences the world over.
This mini-album comes in a precious digipak and presents the lyrics in an atmospheric booklet which visualizes the topics. The booklet is designed by Ingo Römling, whose artwork has already graced the most recent releases of ASP, L'ÂME IMMORTELLE and IN STRICT CONFIDENCE.

Random Is Resistance |

£13.25 |

Review
Ever since their debut "Truth is Fanatic" exploded like a bomb, it has been impossible to imagine the clubs and the alternative charts without ROTERSAND. And with their new album, "Random Is Resistance", they have once again succeeded in performing the balancing act between club-friendly music and a total work of art, mixing chilled-out electrobeats with shimmering futurepop sequences, trance-like sounds with atmospheric samples, clear-cut melodies with warm and charismatic vocals, subdued new wave with classical strings. Nor do they shy away from acoustic guitars and pop hooklines, creating a unique universe that pulls together all strands of electronic music and which remains masterfully emotional and above all, intelligent. "Random Is Resistance' is the most perfect work to date from ROTERSAND's unique creative musical forge. Without doubt, in the world of electronic music, ROTERSAND once more claim their special position, not least because the intelligence of their lyrical message is mirrored in the skillfully employed variation of their music. Individualists who dance their way out of the grid, achieving musical resistance to the well-worn pigeonholes.
"Coincidence" is an unpredictable factor. To remain unpredictable was not only ever just an integral part of ROTERSAND's music. To remain unpredictable in a world in which we are (voluntarily) monitored and in which we relinquish all of our data and personal preferences in order to become the perfect controllable consumers - that is resistance! "Random Is Resistance" is guaranteed, like its predecessors, to implant itself into various charts, onto the dancefloors of the clubs and into the brains of the listeners. A collectors' piece which no fan of ROTERSAND should be without!
The first edition of "Random Is Resistance" is released as a lavish eight-panel digipak with an extensive booklet full of sombre illustrations which perfectly set the visual scene for the story and which can be described without over-exaggeration as a work of art.

Review
The all-new album by DIARY OF DREAMS bears the simple but expressive title "(if)" - subtitled "The Memento Ritual Project". In contrast to previous works, "(if)" is no conceptual album; instead, each of the 12 songs on this ninth studio album is tells its very own story.

Review
CLAN OF XYMOX already proven with the taster single "Emily" that after almost 25 years, their creative potential is a long way from being exhausted. And now it's finally here! The long-awaited, brilliant new full-length album from these living legends. Elegiacally beautiful, melancholically powerful, emotionally stirring. Shimmering goth rock guitars meet modern electronic sounds; pulsating walls of sound meet no-nonsense rhythms, and everything is crowned with dark vocals which are heart-rending, full of hymnal yearning, yet powerful. Classic darkwave of the olden days combines with the electronically-orientated modern era to form a fascinating and unique creation which combines masterly, mighty rock songs and sensitive ballads.
So CLAN OF XYMOX make the perfect transition from their beginnings as one of the most important bands on the legendary 4AD label through to the modern age of the 21st century. "In Love We Trust" forms the perfect high point to a path which once began with "Clan of Xymox" and which was developed further with "Medusa". This album will come to be mentioned in the same breath as classics such as "Disintegration" from THE CURE and "Victorialand" from THE COCTEAU TWINS.
This first edition of "In Love We Trust" is released as a lavish 6-panel digipak with an extensive booklet which perfectly sets the visual scene for the story and which can be described without exaggeration as a work of art. A collectors' piece which no fan of CLAN OF XYMOX should be without!

Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit |

Review
The nightmare of this crisis-ridden world has only just begun as the industrial formation of L'ÂME IMMORTELLE mastermind Thomas Rainer once more undergoes a revolution in style. With preceding albums and the cult single "Katharsis" he transformed himself into a widely-acclaimed 'dance dictator' of international concert halls and clubs and now he returns with a triumphant and unified work of art which will properly inaugurate the "War on the Dancefloor". "Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit" conjures up in its title the cyclical philosophy of Friedrich Nietzsche, and thus it becomes clear: NACHTMAHR don't bring back the shattered memory of past times; NACHTMAHR are much more a state of being - dressed in the garments of the warrior, they celebrate the rumbling storm of the beats as their eternal flame of desire and sin.
More than ever, sexuality seeps into in this work. Whilst in the booklet the NACHTMAHR girls loll around provocatively, songs such as "Sklave" (in English, "Slave") conjure up sadomasochistic scenarios. NACHTMAHR's musical 'will to power' reaches a higher level: the "Vendetta" will silence the sceptic, the "Code:Red" for those who falsely believed themselves to be in the final moments of tranquility. NACHTMAHR whet the blade with a new battle cry: "Because I can!"
Among the pounding EBM beats and the rasping industrial noise, NACHTMAHR have dusted themselves down and do the dance of decay from Moscow to Berlin all the while inflaming the greedy mob. Because "Alle Lust Will Ewigkeit"!

Review
Steve Naghavi couldn't help but noticing that large parts of today's club crowds had no knowledge of the groundbreaking synthpop hits of the 80s, and this observation awakened a missionary instinct in AND ONE's restless front-man.
Thus, the guys have thoroughly naghavigated an illustrious collection of genre classics, from "Blue Monday" and "Big In Japan" to "The Sun Always Shines On TV". A big tour of Germany's biggest concert halls followed and now we can reap the fruits of this labour on CD, as well: "Bodypop 1.5" features nine of the biggest classics of electronic pop music, all in AND ONE's patented SuperDooperCoverLoverSound, with a whole lot of live flavour mingled in.
But, don't fret, the guys were also generous with their own material the new songs "Und Wenn", "Paddy Is My DJ" and "Love Is A Drug Abuser" plus old and previously unreleased versions of "Love You To The End" (the song is now about Depeche Mode!) and "So Klingt Liebe" (a six minute long version sporting a totally different mood!)
"Bodypop 1.5" - music education turned into a silver disc!
Come join us in Naghavi-land - because life I.S.T. too short for bad music!

Review
AND ONE have never been a band to be satisfied with anything less than superlatives. But, as opposed to the empty phrases most politicians have to offer, the Electronic Body Pop band fronted by Steve Naghavi are sticking to their promises: the long planned and now finally completed double live DVD is the most comprehensive live experience ever to be released on this medium.
54 live songs, recorded between 2004 and 2008 in Berlin, Hamburg and Hildesheim! All the hits are included, spanning their entire career, plus lots of highly original cover versions of delightful tunes and the typical zaniness that accompanies any AND ONE gig, including an always lively interaction with the audience.
Add to that all the video clips the band have ever produced, a 'making of' film, plus a complete concert recording from 1989.
Any questions?
...but who, for God's sake, are Diana, Steffi, Julia, Mandy and Anke???

Review
KRAFTWERK: Electro Pioneers, living legends and globally revered masters of electronic sound, celebrate the 35th anniversary of their landmark 1974 hit "Autobahn" by releasing digitally remastered versions of eight astounding albums in a special box set. Rolling back musical barriers with every forward-thinking phase of their career, Dusseldorf's Zen Masters of electronic minimalism laid the foundations for four decades of computerised pop and dance music. By chain reaction and mutation, they have influenced generations of artists in all genres, mapping musical futures yet to come. From BOWIE to DAFT PUNK, APHEX TWIN to PORTISHEAD, DR DRE to LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, and almost everyone in between, the mark of KRAFTWERK is endless, endless.
In 2009, KRAFTWERK have upgraded their Kling Klang masters with the latest studio technology and these eight magnificent recordings still sound like nothing else in the history of music. KRAFTWERK are unique, pristine, profound and beautiful. Decades may pass, but their streamlined synthetic symphonies stand outside time, as fresh as tomorrow, transcendent and sublime.
The eight discs come in a deluxe vinyl-sized box, with each of the discs packaged in "mini-vinyl" card wallets.

Review
The Berlin-based trio SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS have long since understood the fact that good electronic music requires more than simply bringing together some synthesizer presets with some cuddly beats. Thus, on the new album "In the Eye of the Beholder", the band lay just as much emphasis on good song-writing, catchy melodies and multi-faceted arrangements as on club-compatible beats and solid bass. The anthemic electronic tracks keep the delicate balance between catchiness and a thorough dose of power that keeps them from ever drifting into the realms of pop-muzak. Effectively carried by Dennis Schober's warm voice and spiced up with a lot of emotional depth, "In the Eye of the Beholder" is a picture-perfect example of how intelligent electronic music in a field of tension between melody and club appeal should sound.
The first edition of this CD will be released in a cardboard sliderpak, and comes with a bonus disc that features remixes, rarities and unreleased tracks. Club sounds with a lot of soul!
